Stanza 8.39.1

अ॒ग्निम॑स्तोष्यृ॒ग्मिय॑म॒ग्निमी॒ळा य॒जध्यै॑ | अ॒ग्निर्दे॒वाँ अ॑नक्तु न उ॒भे हि वि॒दथे॑ क॒विर॒न्तश्चर॑ति दू॒त्यं१॒॑ नभ॑न्तामन्य॒के स॑मे ||

agním astoṣy r̥gmíyam agním īḷā́ yajádhyai agnír devā́m̐ anaktu na ubhé hí vidáthe kavír antáś cárati dūtyàṁ nábhantām anyaké same

I have praised the glorious Agni, and worshipped him with offerings. May Agni adorn the gods for us. The wise Agni moves between both assembly places, fulfilling his messenger duty. Let all others perish.

Stanza 8.39.2

न्य॑ग्ने॒ नव्य॑सा॒ वच॑स्त॒नूषु॒ शंस॑मेषाम् | न्यरा॑ती॒ ररा॑व्णां॒ विश्वा॑ अ॒र्यो अरा॑तीरि॒तो यु॑च्छन्त्वा॒मुरो॒ नभ॑न्तामन्य॒के स॑मे ||

ny àgne návyasā vácas tanū́ṣu śáṁsam eṣām ny árātī rárāvṇāṁ víśvā aryó árātīr itó yuchantv āmúro nábhantām anyaké same

Agni, with our newest word, burn down the destructive thoughts within their bodies. May all hatreds of the godless and the wicked man's malignities depart. Let the destroyers go away. May all others perish.

Stanza 8.39.3

अग्ने॒ मन्मा॑नि॒ तुभ्यं॒ कं घृ॒तं न जु॑ह्व आ॒सनि॑ | स दे॒वेषु॒ प्र चि॑किद्धि॒ त्वं ह्यसि॑ पू॒र्व्यः शि॒वो दू॒तो वि॒वस्व॑तो॒ नभ॑न्तामन्य॒के स॑मे ||

ágne mánmāni túbhyaṁ káṁ ghr̥táṁ ná juhva āsáni sá devéṣu prá cikiddhi tváṁ hy ási pūrvyáḥ śivó dūtó vivásvato nábhantām anyaké same

Agni, I offer these hymns to you, as if pouring clarified butter into your mouth. May you recognize them among the gods, for you are the ancient, the blissful messenger of Vivashvat. Let all others perish.

Stanza 8.39.4

तत्त॑द॒ग्निर्वयो॑ दधे॒ यथा॑यथा कृप॒ण्यति॑ | ऊ॒र्जाहु॑ति॒र्वसू॑नां॒ शं च॒ योश्च॒ मयो॑ दधे॒ विश्व॑स्यै दे॒वहू॑त्यै॒ नभ॑न्तामन्य॒के स॑मे ||

tát-tad agnír váyo dadhe yáthā-yathā kr̥paṇyáti ūrjā́hutir vásūnāṁ śáṁ ca yóś ca máyo dadhe víśvasyai deváhūtyai nábhantām anyaké same

Agni assumes all powers, just as each supplicant prays. He grants gifts from the Vasus, and bestows both peace and joy. He sustains all divine calls. Let all others perish.

Stanza 8.39.5

स चि॑केत॒ सही॑यसा॒ग्निश्चि॒त्रेण॒ कर्म॑णा | स होता॒ शश्व॑तीनां॒ दक्षि॑णाभिर॒भीवृ॑त इ॒नोति॑ च प्रती॒व्यं१॒॑ नभ॑न्तामन्य॒के स॑मे ||

sá ciketa sáhīyasāgníś citréṇa kármaṇā sá hótā śáśvatīnāṁ dákṣiṇābhir abhī́vr̥ta inóti ca pratīvyàṁ nábhantām anyaké same

Agni has become well-known through his wonderful, victorious actions. He is the priest of all eternal rites, surrounded by sacrificial gifts. He urges on the divine beings. Our well-worshipped envoy, the wise one. Let all others perish.

Stanza 8.39.6

अ॒ग्निर्जा॒ता दे॒वाना॑म॒ग्निर्वे॑द॒ मर्ता॑नामपी॒च्य॑म् | अ॒ग्निः स द्र॑विणो॒दा अ॒ग्निर्द्वारा॒ व्यू॑र्णुते॒ स्वा॑हुतो॒ नवी॑यसा॒ नभ॑न्तामन्य॒के स॑मे ||

agnír jātā́ devā́nām agnír veda mártānām apīcyàm agníḥ sá draviṇodā́ agnír dvā́rā vy ūā̀rṇute svāā̀huto návīyasā nábhantām anyaké same

Agni knows all that is born of the gods, and he knows the secret of mortals. Agni, the giver of wealth, opens the doors for us. He is well-offered, with our newest offering. Let all others perish.

Stanza 8.39.7

अ॒ग्निर्दे॒वेषु॒ संव॑सुः॒ स वि॒क्षु य॒ज्ञिया॒स्वा | स मु॒दा काव्या॑ पु॒रु विश्वं॒ भूमे॑व पुष्यति दे॒वो दे॒वेषु॑ य॒ज्ञियो॒ नभ॑न्तामन्य॒के स॑मे ||

agnír devéṣu sáṁvasuḥ sá vikṣú yajñíyāsv ā́ sá mudā́ kā́vyā purú víśvam bhū́meva puṣyati devó devéṣu yajñíyo nábhantām anyaké same

Agni dwells with the gods, and among the sacrificial peoples. With joy and great wisdom, he nourishes the entire world like the earth. He is the divine one among gods, worthy of sacrifice. Let all others perish.

Stanza 8.39.8

यो अ॒ग्निः स॒प्तमा॑नुषः श्रि॒तो विश्वे॑षु॒ सिन्धु॑षु | तमाग॑न्म त्रिप॒स्त्यं म॑न्धा॒तुर्द॑स्यु॒हन्त॑मम॒ग्निं य॒ज्ञेषु॑ पू॒र्व्यं नभ॑न्तामन्य॒के स॑मे ||

yó agníḥ saptámānuṣaḥ śritó víśveṣu síndhuṣu tám ā́ganma tripastyám mandhātúr dasyuhántamam agníṁ yajñéṣu pūrvyáṁ nábhantām anyaké same

Agni, who is connected to the seven-fold race of men and dwells in all streams, him we approach. He is the dweller in three homes, the slayer of the Dasyus for Mandhatar, the foremost in sacrifices. Let all others perish.

Stanza 8.39.9

अ॒ग्निस्त्रीणि॑ त्रि॒धातू॒न्या क्षे॑ति वि॒दथा॑ क॒विः | स त्रीँरे॑काद॒शाँ इ॒ह यक्ष॑च्च पि॒प्रय॑च्च नो॒ विप्रो॑ दू॒तः परि॑ष्कृतो॒ नभ॑न्तामन्य॒के स॑मे ||

agnís trī́ṇi tridhā́tūny ā́ kṣeti vidáthā kavíḥ sá trī́m̐r ekādaśā́m̐ ihá yákṣac ca pipráyac ca no vípro dūtáḥ páriṣkr̥to nábhantām anyaké same

The wise Agni inhabits three, threefold formed, gathering places. May he, the brilliant envoy, bring here and gratify for us the Thrice Eleven deities. Let all others perish.

Stanza 8.39.10

त्वं नो॑ अग्न आ॒युषु॒ त्वं दे॒वेषु॑ पूर्व्य॒ वस्व॒ एक॑ इरज्यसि | त्वामापः॑ परि॒स्रुतः॒ परि॑ यन्ति॒ स्वसे॑तवो॒ नभ॑न्तामन्य॒के स॑मे ||

tváṁ no agna āyúṣu tváṁ devéṣu pūrvya vásva éka irajyasi tvā́m ā́paḥ parisrútaḥ pári yanti svásetavo nábhantām anyaké same

O Agni, you are our foremost among the gods, and you are the ancient one among mortals. You alone rule over wealth. The waters flow around you, like natural streams, as they run around you. Let all others perish.
