Stanza 8.32.1

प्र कृ॒तान्यृ॑जी॒षिणः॒ कण्वा॒ इन्द्र॑स्य॒ गाथ॑या | मदे॒ सोम॑स्य वोचत ||

prá kr̥tā́ny r̥jīṣíṇaḥ káṇvā índrasya gā́thayā máde sómasya vocata

O Kanvas, with the song, in the intoxication of Soma, speak forth the deeds of Indra!

Stanza 8.32.2

यः सृबि॑न्द॒मन॑र्शनिं॒ पिप्रुं॑ दा॒सम॑ही॒शुव॑म् | वधी॑दु॒ग्रो रि॒णन्न॒पः ||

yáḥ sŕ̥bindam ánarśanim pípruṁ dāsám ahīśúvam vádhīd ugró riṇánn apáḥ

The mighty Indra slew Sr̥ibinda, Anarśani, Pipru, the Dasa Ahîsuva, and released the waters.

Stanza 8.32.3

न्यर्बु॑दस्य वि॒ष्टपं॑ व॒र्ष्माणं॑ बृह॒तस्ति॑र | कृ॒षे तदि॑न्द्र॒ पौंस्य॑म् ||

ny árbudasya viṣṭápaṁ varṣmā́ṇam br̥hatás tira kr̥ṣé tád indra paúṁsyam

Indra, you have destroyed the dwelling and the mighty height of Arbuda. That strength of yours is renowned.

Stanza 8.32.4

प्रति॑ श्रु॒ताय॑ वो धृ॒षत्तूर्णा॑शं॒ न गि॒रेरधि॑ | हु॒वे सु॑शि॒प्रमू॒तये॑ ||

práti śrutā́ya vo dhr̥ṣát tū́rṇāśaṁ ná girér ádhi huvé suśiprám ūtáye

O Indra, renowned and powerful, I call upon you from the mountain for protection, just as a torrent rushes down.

Stanza 8.32.5

स गोरश्व॑स्य॒ वि व्र॒जं म॑न्दा॒नः सो॒म्येभ्यः॑ | पुरं॒ न शू॑र दर्षसि ||

sá gór áśvasya ví vrajám mandānáḥ somyébhyaḥ púraṁ ná śūra darṣasi

O hero, rejoicing in the Soma, you break open the enclosures of cows and horses like a fort.

Stanza 8.32.6

यदि॑ मे रा॒रणः॑ सु॒त उ॒क्थे वा॒ दध॑से॒ चनः॑ | आ॒रादुप॑ स्व॒धा ग॑हि ||

yádi me rāráṇaḥ sutá ukthé vā dádhase cánaḥ ārā́d úpa svadhā́ gahi

If my libation pleases you and you take joy in my hymn, then come with your divine presence from afar.

Stanza 8.32.7

व॒यं घा॑ ते॒ अपि॑ ष्मसि स्तो॒तार॑ इन्द्र गिर्वणः | त्वं नो॑ जिन्व सोमपाः ||

vayáṁ ghā te ápi ṣmasi stotā́ra indra girvaṇaḥ tváṁ no jinva somapāḥ

We are your singers, O Indra, lover of hymns, Soma-drinker! Revitalize us.

Stanza 8.32.8

उ॒त नः॑ पि॒तुमा भ॑र संररा॒णो अवि॑क्षितम् | मघ॑व॒न्भूरि॑ ते॒ वसु॑ ||

utá naḥ pitúm ā́ bhara saṁrarāṇó ávikṣitam mághavan bhū́ri te vásu

O generous Indra, bring us food and provisions, continuing in your joy. Your wealth is great.

Stanza 8.32.9

उ॒त नो॒ गोम॑तस्कृधि॒ हिर॑ण्यवतो अ॒श्विनः॑ | इळा॑भिः॒ सं र॑भेमहि ||

utá no gómatas kr̥dhi híraṇyavato aśvínaḥ íḷābhiḥ sáṁ rabhemahi

Make us rich in cows, horses, and gold. Let us join with you through offerings.

Stanza 8.32.10

बृ॒बदु॑क्थं हवामहे सृ॒प्रक॑रस्नमू॒तये॑ | साधु॑ कृ॒ण्वन्त॒मव॑से ||

br̥bádukthaṁ havāmahe sr̥prákarasnam ūtáye sā́dhu kr̥ṇvántam ávase

We call upon him who has far-reaching hands and who does good deeds for our protection.

Stanza 8.32.11

यः सं॒स्थे चि॑च्छ॒तक्र॑तु॒रादीं॑ कृ॒णोति॑ वृत्र॒हा | ज॒रि॒तृभ्यः॑ पुरू॒वसुः॑ ||

yáḥ saṁsthé cic chatákratur ā́d īṁ kr̥ṇóti vr̥trahā́ jaritŕ̥bhyaḥ purūvásuḥ

He, Śatakratu, even in battle, acts as the Vr̥itra-slayer, and gives much wealth to the singers.

Stanza 8.32.12

स नः॑ श॒क्रश्चि॒दा श॑क॒द्दान॑वाँ अन्तराभ॒रः | इन्द्रो॒ विश्वा॑भिरू॒तिभिः॑ ||

sá naḥ śakráś cid ā́ śakad dā́navām̐ antarābharáḥ índro víśvābhir ūtíbhiḥ

May that Indra, the powerful one, grant us strength with all his aids.

Stanza 8.32.13

यो रा॒यो॒३॒॑ऽवनि॑र्म॒हान्त्सु॑पा॒रः सु॑न्व॒तः सखा॑ | तमिन्द्र॑म॒भि गा॑यत ||

yó rāyò 'vánir mahā́n supāráḥ sunvatáḥ sákhā tám índram abhí gāyata

Sing to him, O worshippers, the great Indra, friend of the Soma-presser, who is the source of wealth.

Stanza 8.32.14

आ॒य॒न्तारं॒ महि॑ स्थि॒रं पृत॑नासु श्रवो॒जित॑म् | भूरे॒रीशा॑न॒मोज॑सा ||

āyantā́ram máhi sthirám pŕ̥tanāsu śravojítam bhū́rer ī́śānam ójasā

He brings that which is great and firm, wins glory in battles, and is the lord of wealth with power.

Stanza 8.32.15

नकि॑रस्य॒ शची॑नां निय॒न्ता सू॒नृता॑नाम् | नकि॑र्व॒क्ता न दा॒दिति॑ ||

nákir asya śácīnāṁ niyantā́ sūnŕ̥tānām nákir vaktā́ ná dād íti

No one controls his deeds or gracious acts. No one can say he does not give.

Stanza 8.32.16

न नू॒नं ब्र॒ह्मणा॑मृ॒णं प्रा॑शू॒नाम॑स्ति सुन्व॒ताम् | न सोमो॑ अप्र॒ता प॑पे ||

ná nūnám brahmáṇām r̥ṇám prāśūnā́m asti sunvatā́m ná sómo apratā́ pape

Now, those who press Soma do not have debt to the Brahmans or the active men; the Soma has been fully paid for.

Stanza 8.32.17

पन्य॒ इदुप॑ गायत॒ पन्य॑ उ॒क्थानि॑ शंसत | ब्रह्मा॑ कृणोत॒ पन्य॒ इत् ||

pánya íd úpa gāyata pánya ukthā́ni śaṁsata bráhmā kr̥ṇota pánya ít

Sing to the praiseworthy one, recite hymns to him, and offer prayers to him.

Stanza 8.32.18

पन्य॒ आ द॑र्दिरच्छ॒ता स॒हस्रा॑ वा॒ज्यवृ॑तः | इन्द्रो॒ यो यज्व॑नो वृ॒धः ||

pánya ā́ dardirac chatā́ sahásrā vājy ávr̥taḥ índro yó yájvano vr̥dháḥ

May the unrestrained, strong, praiseworthy Indra bring forth hundreds and thousands, the one who aids the sacrificers.

Stanza 8.32.19

वि षू च॑र स्व॒धा अनु॑ कृष्टी॒नामन्वा॒हुवः॑ | इन्द्र॒ पिब॑ सु॒ताना॑म् ||

ví ṣū́ cara svadhā́ ánu kr̥ṣṭīnā́m ánv āhúvaḥ índra píba sutā́nām

Go forth according to the offerings, Indra, drink the offered Soma.

Stanza 8.32.20

पिब॒ स्वधै॑नवानामु॒त यस्तुग्र्ये॒ सचा॑ | उ॒तायमि॑न्द्र॒ यस्तव॑ ||

píba svádhainavānām utá yás túgrye sácā utā́yám indra yás táva

Drink your own offerings, and also that which was with Tugrya. This also, Indra, is yours.

Stanza 8.32.21

अती॑हि मन्युषा॒विणं॑ सुषु॒वांस॑मु॒पार॑णे | इ॒मं रा॒तं सु॒तं पि॑ब ||

átīhi manyuṣāvíṇaṁ suṣuvā́ṁsam upā́raṇe imáṁ rātáṁ sutám piba

Come, O Indra, to the offered Soma, whether from one in distress or one who has poured it. Drink this offered libation.

Stanza 8.32.22

इ॒हि ति॒स्रः प॑रा॒वत॑ इ॒हि पञ्च॒ जनाँ॒ अति॑ | धेना॑ इन्द्राव॒चाक॑शत् ||

ihí tisráḥ parāváta ihí páñca jánām̐ áti dhénā indrāvacā́kaśat

Go beyond the three distances, past the five peoples, O Indra, noticing our voice.

Stanza 8.32.23

सूर्यो॑ र॒श्मिं यथा॑ सृ॒जा त्वा॑ यच्छन्तु मे॒ गिरः॑ | नि॒म्नमापो॒ न स॒ध्र्य॑क् ||

sū́ryo raśmíṁ yáthā sr̥jā́ tvā yachantu me gíraḥ nimnám ā́po ná sadhryàk

Send forth your ray like the sun. Let my hymns attract you, like waters flowing to a low place.

Stanza 8.32.24

अध्व॑र्य॒वा तु हि षि॒ञ्च सोमं॑ वी॒राय॑ शि॒प्रिणे॑ | भरा॑ सु॒तस्य॑ पी॒तये॑ ||

ádhvaryav ā́ tú hí ṣiñcá sómaṁ vīrā́ya śipríṇe bhárā sutásya pītáye

O Adhvaryu, pour the Soma for the hero Indra, so he may drink.

Stanza 8.32.25

य उ॒द्नः फ॑लि॒गं भि॒नन्न्य१॒॑क्सिन्धूँ॑र॒वासृ॑जत् | यो गोषु॑ प॒क्वं धा॒रय॑त् ||

yá udnáḥ phaligám bhinán nyàk síndhūm̐r avā́sr̥jat yó góṣu pakváṁ dhāráyat

Who splits the cloud of water, releases the rivers, and makes the milk ripen in the cows.

Stanza 8.32.26

अह॑न्वृ॒त्रमृची॑षम और्णवा॒भम॑ही॒शुव॑म् | हि॒मेना॑विध्य॒दर्बु॑दम् ||

áhan vr̥trám ŕ̥cīṣama aurṇavābhám ahīśúvam himénāvidhyad árbudam

He killed Vr̥itra, Āurṇavābha, and Ahîsuva; he pierced Arbuda with frost.

Stanza 8.32.27

प्र व॑ उ॒ग्राय॑ नि॒ष्टुरेऽषा॑ळ्हाय प्रस॒क्षिणे॑ | दे॒वत्तं॒ ब्रह्म॑ गायत ||

prá va ugrā́ya niṣṭúré 'ṣāḷhāya prasakṣíṇe deváttam bráhma gāyata

Sing the divinely given prayer to him, the mighty, unconquerable, and victorious one.

Stanza 8.32.28

यो विश्वा॑न्य॒भि व्र॒ता सोम॑स्य॒ मदे॒ अन्ध॑सः | इन्द्रो॑ दे॒वेषु॒ चेत॑ति ||

yó víśvāny abhí vratā́ sómasya máde ándhasaḥ índro devéṣu cétati

Indra, who considers all the rules of Soma in his joy, is aware among the gods.

Stanza 8.32.29

इ॒ह त्या स॑ध॒माद्या॒ हरी॒ हिर॑ण्यकेश्या | वो॒ळ्हाम॒भि प्रयो॑ हि॒तम् ||

ihá tyā́ sadhamā́dyā hárī híraṇyakeśyā voḷhā́m abhí práyo hitám

O Indra, may your two horses, sharing your feast and having golden manes, carry you to the prepared enjoyment.

Stanza 8.32.30

अ॒र्वाञ्चं॑ त्वा पुरुष्टुत प्रि॒यमे॑धस्तुता॒ हरी॑ | सो॒म॒पेया॑य वक्षतः ||

arvā́ñcaṁ tvā puruṣṭuta priyámedhastutā hárī somapéyāya vakṣataḥ

O much-lauded Indra, may the two horses praised by Priyamedha carry you to drink the Soma.
