Stanza 8.31.1

यो यजा॑ति॒ यजा॑त॒ इत्सु॒नव॑च्च॒ पचा॑ति च | ब्र॒ह्मेदिन्द्र॑स्य चाकनत् ||

yó yájāti yájāta ít sunávac ca pácāti ca brahméd índrasya cākanat

He who worships, who sacrifices, who pours the Soma-juice, and prepares the offering – that person's devotion pleases Indra.

Stanza 8.31.2

पु॒रो॒ळाशं॒ यो अ॑स्मै॒ सोमं॒ रर॑त आ॒शिर॑म् | पादित्तं श॒क्रो अंह॑सः ||

puroḷā́śaṁ yó asmai sómaṁ rárata āśíram pā́d ít táṁ śakró áṁhasaḥ

Śakra (Indra) protects from distress the one who offers him the sacrificial cake and pours the Soma mixed with milk.

Stanza 8.31.3

तस्य॑ द्यु॒माँ अ॑स॒द्रथो॑ दे॒वजू॑तः॒ स शू॑शुवत् | विश्वा॑ व॒न्वन्न॑मि॒त्रिया॑ ||

tásya dyumā́m̐ asad rátho devájūtaḥ sá śūśuvat víśvā vanvánn amitríyā

For him, may his chariot be glorious, divinely propelled, and may he himself be powerful, conquering all hostile forces.

Stanza 8.31.4

अस्य॑ प्र॒जाव॑ती गृ॒हेऽस॑श्चन्ती दि॒वेदि॑वे | इळा॑ धेनु॒मती॑ दुहे ||

ásya prajā́vatī gr̥hé 'saścantī divé-dive íḷā dhenumátī duhe

In his home, may there be abundance of progeny and sustenance, with Ila flowing continuously, bringing forth nourishment.

Stanza 8.31.5

या दम्प॑ती॒ सम॑नसा सुनु॒त आ च॒ धाव॑तः | देवा॑सो॒ नित्य॑या॒शिरा॑ ||

yā́ dámpatī sámanasā sunutá ā́ ca dhā́vataḥ dévāso nítyayāśírā

O Gods, husband and wife, with one mind, press out and purify the Soma juice with constant draughts.

Stanza 8.31.6

प्रति॑ प्राश॒व्याँ॑ इतः स॒म्यञ्चा॑ ब॒र्हिरा॑शाते | न ता वाजे॑षु वायतः ||

práti prāśavyāā̀m̐ itaḥ samyáñcā barhír āśāte ná tā́ vā́jeṣu vāyataḥ

They come together to the sacred grass, and never fail in their activities/struggles.

Stanza 8.31.7

न दे॒वाना॒मपि॑ ह्नुतः सुम॒तिं न जु॑गुक्षतः | श्रवो॑ बृ॒हद्वि॑वासतः ||

ná devā́nām ápi hnutaḥ sumatíṁ ná jugukṣataḥ śrávo br̥hád vivāsataḥ

They do not hide or deny the favor of the gods, nor do they avoid it; they win great glory.

Stanza 8.31.8

पु॒त्रिणा॒ ता कु॑मा॒रिणा॒ विश्व॒मायु॒र्व्य॑श्नुतः | उ॒भा हिर॑ण्यपेशसा ||

putríṇā tā́ kumāríṇā víśvam ā́yur vy àśnutaḥ ubhā́ híraṇyapeśasā

They, with sons and daughters, reach the fullness of life, both adorned with golden splendor.

Stanza 8.31.9

वी॒तिहो॑त्रा कृ॒तद्व॑सू दश॒स्यन्ता॒मृता॑य॒ कम् | समूधो॑ रोम॒शं ह॑तो दे॒वेषु॑ कृणुतो॒ दुवः॑ ||

vītíhotrā kr̥tádvasū daśasyántāmŕ̥tāya kám sám ū́dho romaśáṁ hato devéṣu kr̥ṇuto dúvaḥ

Serving the immortal one with sacrificial nourishment and wealth, they fulfill their duty and render service to the gods.

Stanza 8.31.10

आ शर्म॒ पर्व॑तानां वृणी॒महे॑ न॒दीना॑म् | आ विष्णोः॑ सचा॒भुवः॑ ||

ā́ śárma párvatānāṁ vr̥ṇīmáhe nadī́nām ā́ víṣṇoḥ sacābhúvaḥ

We seek protection from the mountains, from the rivers, and from him who is associated with Vishnu.

Stanza 8.31.11

ऐतु॑ पू॒षा र॒यिर्भगः॑ स्व॒स्ति स॑र्व॒धात॑मः | उ॒रुरध्वा॑ स्व॒स्तये॑ ||

aítu pūṣā́ rayír bhágaḥ svastí sarvadhā́tamaḥ urúr ádhvā svastáye

May Pūṣan, Bhaga, and wealth come for our welfare, and may the path to well-being be wide.

Stanza 8.31.12

अ॒रम॑तिरन॒र्वणो॒ विश्वो॑ दे॒वस्य॒ मन॑सा | आ॒दि॒त्याना॑मने॒ह इत् ||

arámatir anarváṇo víśvo devásya mánasā ādityā́nām anehá ít

Aramati, and the unhindered Viśva, with divine spirit and the Adityas' mighty protection.

Stanza 8.31.13

यथा॑ नो मि॒त्रो अ॑र्य॒मा वरु॑णः॒ सन्ति॑ गो॒पाः | सु॒गा ऋ॒तस्य॒ पन्थाः॑ ||

yáthā no mitró aryamā́ váruṇaḥ sánti gopā́ḥ sugā́ r̥tásya pánthāḥ

Seeing that Mitra, Aryaman, and Varuna are our guardians, the paths of cosmic order are easy to tread.

Stanza 8.31.14

अ॒ग्निं वः॑ पू॒र्व्यं गि॒रा दे॒वमी॑ळे॒ वसू॑नाम् | स॒प॒र्यन्तः॑ पुरुप्रि॒यं मि॒त्रं न क्षे॑त्र॒साध॑सम् ||

agníṁ vaḥ pūrvyáṁ girā́ devám īḷe vásūnām saparyántaḥ purupriyám mitráṁ ná kṣetrasā́dhasam

I glorify Agni, the first among gods, with song, for wealth; we serve the beloved one who prospers our lands.

Stanza 8.31.15

म॒क्षू दे॒वव॑तो॒ रथः॒ शूरो॑ वा पृ॒त्सु कासु॑ चित् | दे॒वानां॒ य इन्मनो॒ यज॑मान॒ इय॑क्षत्य॒भीदय॑ज्वनो भुवत् ||

makṣū́ devávato ráthaḥ śū́ro vā pr̥tsú kā́su cit devā́nāṁ yá ín máno yájamāna íyakṣaty abhī́d áyajvano bhuvat

Swift is the chariot of the god-attended hero. The one who seeks the favor of the gods conquers those who do not worship.

Stanza 8.31.16

न य॑जमान रिष्यसि॒ न सु॑न्वान॒ न दे॑वयो | दे॒वानां॒ य इन्मनो॒ यज॑मान॒ इय॑क्षत्य॒भीदय॑ज्वनो भुवत् ||

ná yajamāna riṣyasi ná sunvāna ná devayo devā́nāṁ yá ín máno yájamāna íyakṣaty abhī́d áyajvano bhuvat

O worshipper, O Soma-presser, O devoted one, you shall not perish. The one who seeks the favor of the gods conquers those who do not worship.

Stanza 8.31.17

नकि॒ष्टं कर्म॑णा नश॒न्न प्र यो॑ष॒न्न यो॑षति | दे॒वानां॒ य इन्मनो॒ यज॑मान॒ इय॑क्षत्य॒भीदय॑ज्वनो भुवत् ||

nákiṣ ṭáṁ kármaṇā naśan ná prá yoṣan ná yoṣati devā́nāṁ yá ín máno yájamāna íyakṣaty abhī́d áyajvano bhuvat

No one equals him in action, nor keeps him far. The one who seeks the favor of the gods conquers those who do not worship.

Stanza 8.31.18

अस॒दत्र॑ सु॒वीर्य॑मु॒त त्यदा॒श्वश्व्य॑म् | दे॒वानां॒ य इन्मनो॒ यज॑मान॒ इय॑क्षत्य॒भीदय॑ज्वनो भुवत् ||

ásad átra suvī́ryam utá tyád āśváśvyam devā́nāṁ yá ín máno yájamāna íyakṣaty abhī́d áyajvano bhuvat

Strength and mastery of swift steeds becomes present. The one who seeks the favor of the gods conquers those who do not worship.
