idáṁ vaso sutám ándhaḥ píbā súpūrṇam udáram ánābhayin rarimā́ te

Drink this prepared Soma, O Vasu! May your belly be full. We, without fear, offer it to you.

Stanza 8.2.2

nŕ̥bhir dhūtáḥ sutó áśnair ávyo vā́raiḥ páripūtaḥ áśvo ná niktó nadī́ṣu

Pressed by men, strained through wool, it is purified; like a horse bathed in rivers.

Stanza 8.2.3

We have made this Soma sweet for you, like barley mixed with milk. Indra, we invite you to this feast.

Stanza 8.2.4

índra ít somapā́ éka índraḥ sutapā́ viśvā́yuḥ antár devā́n mártyāṁś ca

Indra alone drinks the Soma; he alone is the presser of Soma, the universe's companion. He is among the gods and mortals.

Stanza 8.2.5

ná yáṁ śukró ná dúrāśīr ná tr̥prā́ uruvyácasam apaspr̥ṇvaté suhā́rdam

The pure, the mixed, and the potent drinks do not overwhelm him. The widely-extended, friendly one cannot be repelled.

Stanza 8.2.6

góbhir yád īm anyé asmán mr̥gáṁ ná vrā́ mr̥gáyante abhitsáranti dhenúbhiḥ

With milk, while others seek him like a hunter seeks a deer, they approach him, and with cows.

Stanza 8.2.7

tráya índrasya sómāḥ sutā́saḥ santu devásya své kṣáye sutapā́vnaḥ

May three pressed Somadraughts be for Indra, the God, in his own dwelling, for the drinker of Soma.

Stanza 8.2.8

śúcir asi puruniṣṭhā́ḥ kṣīraír madhyatá ā́śīrtaḥ dadhnā́ mándiṣṭhaḥ śū́rasya

You are pure, placed in many places, mixed with milk and curd, most delightful for the Hero.

Stanza 8.2.10

imé ta indra sómās tīvrā́ asmé sutā́saḥ śukrā́ āśíraṁ yācante

These Soma-draughts are for you, Indra, strong and pure, pressed by us. They desire admixture.

Stanza 8.2.11

tā́m̐ āśíram puroḷā́śam índremáṁ sómaṁ śrīṇīhi revántaṁ hí tvā śr̥ṇómi

hr̥tsú pītā́so yudhyante durmádāso ná súrāyām ū́dhar ná nagnā́ jarante

Those who have drunk fight within their hearts, not intoxicated like with spirits. The naked do not wither.

Stanza 8.2.13

revā́m̐ íd reváta stotā́ syā́t tvā́vato maghónaḥ préd u harivaḥ śrutásya

May the praiser be wealthy, like the wealthy Indra, munificent, and famous. May he advance in greatness, O Indra, known for your glory.

Stanza 8.2.14

uktháṁ caná śasyámānam ágor arír ā́ ciketa ná gāyatráṁ gīyámānam

He does not heed the non-milk-offerer, nor the chanted hymn, nor the sung psalm.

Stanza 8.2.15

mā́ na indra pīyatnáve mā́ śárdhate párā dāḥ śíkṣā śacīvaḥ śácībhiḥ

Indra, do not give us to the scornful or proud. Do not abandon us! Help us with your mighty powers.

We have praised nothing else, O Thunderer, in this eulogy. We have thought only of your land.

Stanza 8.2.18

ichánti devā́ḥ sunvántaṁ ná svápnāya spr̥hayanti yánti pramā́dam átandrāḥ

The Gods seek the one who presses Soma; they do not desire sleep. They punish idleness, being vigilant.

pā́tā vr̥trahā́ sutám ā́ ghā gaman nā́ré asmát ní yamate śatámūtiḥ

May the Soma-drinker, the slayer of Vritra, drink! May he not stay far from us! The one with a hundred aids approaches.

Stanza 8.2.27

Sweet Soma juices, come! Blended Soma juices, come! O swift one, O sage-like one, O mighty one, come quickly to the feast.

Stanza 8.2.29

stútaś ca yā́s tvā várdhanti mahé rā́dhase nr̥mṇā́ya índra kāríṇaṁ vr̥dhántaḥ

And the praises that strengthen you, Indra, for great bounty and valor, and the hymns that exalt you, the doer of deeds.
