The islands scattered, the evil ceased, heaven and earth were joined. You who wear bright rings, you expanded the regions, when you, shining with your own splendor, moved.

Stanza 8.20.5

The arrow of the Sobharis is anointed with milk in the golden chest on the chariot. May the well-born, great ones, kindred of the cow, grant us nourishment and enjoyment, and protection.

These strong, vigorous, strong-armed ones do not strive among themselves; firm are the bows, the weapons on your chariot, and splendors are upon your faces/forms.

Stanza 8.20.13

येषा॒मर्णो॒ न स॒प्रथो॒ नाम॑ त्वे॒षं शश्व॑ता॒मेक॒मिद्भु॒जे | वयो॒ न पित्र्यं॒ सहः॑ ||

yéṣām árṇo ná saprátho nā́ma tveṣáṁ śáśvatām ékam íd bhujé váyo ná pítryaṁ sáhaḥ

Their terrible name, wide-spreading like the ocean, is the one thing of all that is beneficial; their strength is like the vigor of their father.

Stanza 8.20.14

Worship these Maruts, and praise them! Of these roaring ones, like moving wheel-spokes, no one is the last; this is theirs by gift, by greatness it is theirs.

Stanza 8.20.15

yáthā rudrásya sūnávo divó váśanty ásurasya vedhásaḥ yúvānas táthéd asat

As the sons of Rudra, the attendants of the divine creator Dyaus, wish for things, so shall it be for you, O youths.

Stanza 8.20.18

O Sobhari, call with your newest song the young, strong, and pure Maruts, as the plougher calls the cows.

Stanza 8.20.20

Worship the Maruts with a song, they who are strong like a boxer, called in to assist in all fights; the most glorious, like bright-shining bulls.

Stanza 8.20.21

Yes, O united friends, kindred, O Maruts, by a common birth, the oxen lick one another's humps.

Stanza 8.20.22

O dancers with golden ornaments on your chests, even a mortal comes to ask for your brotherhood; pay attention to us, O Maruts, for your friendship lasts forever.

Stanza 8.20.23

O generous Maruts, O friends, O steeds, bring us some of your Marut-medicine.

With the favors whereby you protect the Sindhu, whereby you save, whereby you help Krivi, with those auspicious favors be our delight, O delightful ones, you who never hate your followers.

Stanza 8.20.25

यत्सिन्धौ॒ यदसि॑क्न्यां॒ यत्स॑मु॒द्रेषु॑ मरुतः सुबर्हिषः | यत्पर्व॑तेषु भेष॒जम् ||

O Maruts, for whom we have prepared good altars, whatever medicine there is on the Sindhu, on the Asikni, in the seas, on the mountains.

Stanza 8.20.26

víśvam páśyanto bibhr̥thā tanū́ṣv ā́ ténā no ádhi vocata kṣamā́ rápo maruta ā́turasya na íṣkartā víhrutam púnaḥ

Carrying everything you see on your bodies, bless us with it! Cast down to the earth, O Maruts, what harms our sick one—straighten what is crooked!
