Stanza 8.13.1

इन्द्रः॑ सु॒तेषु॒ सोमे॑षु॒ क्रतुं॑ पुनीत उ॒क्थ्य॑म् | वि॒दे वृ॒धस्य॒ दक्ष॑सो म॒हान्हि षः ||

índraḥ sutéṣu sómeṣu krátum punīta ukthyàm vidé vr̥dhásya dákṣaso mahā́n hí ṣáḥ

Indra, in the pressed Soma juices, purifies his excellent, praiseworthy mind. He has attained the growth of strength, for he is great.

Stanza 8.13.2

स प्र॑थ॒मे व्यो॑मनि दे॒वानां॒ सद॑ने वृ॒धः | सु॒पा॒रः सु॒श्रव॑स्तमः॒ सम॑प्सु॒जित् ||

sá prathamé vyòmani devā́nāṁ sádane vr̥dháḥ supāráḥ suśrávastamaḥ sám apsujít

He (Indra) in the first, great expanse, in the assembly of the gods, is the source of growth. He is easily passable, most renowned, and victorious in battles.

Stanza 8.13.3

तम॑ह्वे॒ वाज॑सातय॒ इन्द्रं॒ भरा॑य शु॒ष्मिण॑म् | भवा॑ नः सु॒म्ने अन्त॑मः॒ सखा॑ वृ॒धे ||

tám ahve vā́jasātaya índram bhárāya śuṣmíṇam bhávā naḥ sumné ántamaḥ sákhā vr̥dhé

For the sake of obtaining strength (food/wealth), I have invoked him (Indra), the mighty one, for support. Be our closest friend in well-being, a friend for growth.

Stanza 8.13.4

इ॒यं त॑ इन्द्र गिर्वणो रा॒तिः क्ष॑रति सुन्व॒तः | म॒न्दा॒नो अ॒स्य ब॒र्हिषो॒ वि रा॑जसि ||

iyáṁ ta indra girvaṇo rātíḥ kṣarati sunvatáḥ mandānó asyá barhíṣo ví rājasi

This offering of the Soma-presser flows for you, O Indra, lover of hymns. Rejoicing in this seat (grass), you shine forth.

Stanza 8.13.5

नू॒नं तदि॑न्द्र दद्धि नो॒ यत्त्वा॑ सु॒न्वन्त॒ ईम॑हे | र॒यिं न॑श्चि॒त्रमा भ॑रा स्व॒र्विद॑म् ||

nūnáṁ tád indra daddhi no yát tvā sunvánta ī́mahe rayíṁ naś citrám ā́ bharā svarvídam

Now, O Indra, grant us that which we, the Soma-pressers, desire from you. Bring us manifold wealth that leads to heaven.

Stanza 8.13.6

स्तो॒ता यत्ते॒ विच॑र्षणिरतिप्रश॒र्धय॒द्गिरः॑ | व॒या इ॒वानु॑ रोहते जु॒षन्त॒ यत् ||

stotā́ yát te vícarṣaṇir atipraśardháyad gíraḥ vayā́ ivā́nu rohate juṣánta yát

When the singer, with zealous effort, has offered songs to you, they grow like branches and are accepted.

Stanza 8.13.7

प्र॒त्न॒वज्ज॑नया॒ गिरः॑ शृणु॒धी ज॑रि॒तुर्हव॑म् | मदे॑मदे ववक्षिथा सु॒कृत्व॑ने ||

pratnaváj janayā gíraḥ śr̥ṇudhī́ jaritúr hávam máde-made vavakṣithā sukŕ̥tvane

Generate hymns as in ancient times, and listen to the singer's call. You have grown mightily for the performer of good deeds at every joyful occasion.

Stanza 8.13.8

क्रीळ॑न्त्यस्य सू॒नृता॒ आपो॒ न प्र॒वता॑ य॒तीः | अ॒या धि॒या य उ॒च्यते॒ पति॑र्दि॒वः ||

krī́ḷanty asya sūnŕ̥tā ā́po ná pravátā yatī́ḥ ayā́ dhiyā́ yá ucyáte pátir diváḥ

Sweet songs play for him (Indra), like waters moving downwards. He, the lord of heaven, is called upon.

Stanza 8.13.9

उ॒तो पति॒र्य उ॒च्यते॑ कृष्टी॒नामेक॒ इद्व॒शी | न॒मो॒वृ॒धैर॑व॒स्युभिः॑ सु॒ते र॑ण ||

utó pátir yá ucyáte kr̥ṣṭīnā́m éka íd vaśī́ namovr̥dhaír avasyúbhiḥ suté raṇa

Also, he is the one ruler over people, and the only controller. May he be pleased by those who offer reverence and by the pressed Soma.

Stanza 8.13.10

स्तु॒हि श्रु॒तं वि॑प॒श्चितं॒ हरी॒ यस्य॑ प्रस॒क्षिणा॑ | गन्ता॑रा दा॒शुषो॑ गृ॒हं न॑म॒स्विनः॑ ||

stuhí śrutáṁ vipaścítaṁ hárī yásya prasakṣíṇā gántārā dāśúṣo gr̥háṁ namasvínaḥ

Praise the renowned and wise Indra, whose two horses are drivers. The drivers of his chariot will go to the house of the giver (of oblations).

Stanza 8.13.11

तू॒तु॒जा॒नो म॑हेम॒तेऽश्वे॑भिः प्रुषि॒तप्सु॑भिः | आ या॑हि य॒ज्ञमा॒शुभिः॒ शमिद्धि ते॑ ||

tūtujānó mahematé 'śvebhiḥ pruṣitápsubhiḥ ā́ yāhi yajñám āśúbhiḥ śám íd dhí te

O Indra of great intellect, come with speckled horses and swiftness to the sacrifice. It is indeed your delight.

Stanza 8.13.12

इन्द्र॑ शविष्ठ सत्पते र॒यिं गृ॒णत्सु॑ धारय | श्रवः॑ सू॒रिभ्यो॑ अ॒मृतं॑ वसुत्व॒नम् ||

índra śaviṣṭha satpate rayíṁ gr̥ṇátsu dhāraya śrávaḥ sūríbhyo amŕ̥taṁ vasutvanám

O Indra, mightiest lord of heroes, grant wealth to those who praise you. Bestow glory and wealth upon the patrons.

Stanza 8.13.13

हवे॑ त्वा॒ सूर॒ उदि॑ते॒ हवे॑ म॒ध्यंदि॑ने दि॒वः | जु॒षा॒ण इ॑न्द्र॒ सप्ति॑भिर्न॒ आ ग॑हि ||

háve tvā sū́ra údite háve madhyáṁdine diváḥ juṣāṇá indra sáptibhir na ā́ gahi

I call you, O Indra, when the sun has risen, and at midday. Come, O Indra, pleased, with your horses to us.

Stanza 8.13.14

आ तू ग॑हि॒ प्र तु द्र॑व॒ मत्स्वा॑ सु॒तस्य॒ गोम॑तः | तन्तुं॑ तनुष्व पू॒र्व्यं यथा॑ वि॒दे ||

ā́ tū́ gahi prá tú drava mátsvā sutásya gómataḥ tántuṁ tanuṣva pūrvyáṁ yáthā vidé

Come quickly, rush forward, rejoice in the sweet, cow-residing (Soma). Extend the ancient lineage, as is known.

Stanza 8.13.15

यच्छ॒क्रासि॑ परा॒वति॒ यद॑र्वा॒वति॑ वृत्रहन् | यद्वा॑ समु॒द्रे अन्ध॑सोऽवि॒तेद॑सि ||

yác chakrā́si parāváti yád arvāváti vr̥trahan yád vā samudré ándhaso 'vitéd asi

Whether you are far away or near, O Indra, slayer of Vritra, or in the ocean, you are the protector of the Soma juice.

Stanza 8.13.16

इन्द्रं॑ वर्धन्तु नो॒ गिर॒ इन्द्रं॑ सु॒तास॒ इन्द॑वः | इन्द्रे॑ ह॒विष्म॑ती॒र्विशो॑ अराणिषुः ||

índraṁ vardhantu no gíra índraṁ sutā́sa índavaḥ índre havíṣmatīr víśo arāṇiṣuḥ

May our praises and the pressed Soma strengthen Indra. The people who bring offerings may rejoice in Indra.

Stanza 8.13.17

तमिद्विप्रा॑ अव॒स्यवः॑ प्र॒वत्व॑तीभिरू॒तिभिः॑ | इन्द्रं॑ क्षो॒णीर॑वर्धयन्व॒या इ॑व ||

tám íd víprā avasyávaḥ pravátvatībhir ūtíbhiḥ índraṁ kṣoṇī́r avardhayan vayā́ iva

The wise, seeking him, have strengthened Indra with their offerings. They have increased him with branches.

Stanza 8.13.18

त्रिक॑द्रुकेषु॒ चेत॑नं दे॒वासो॑ य॒ज्ञम॑त्नत | तमिद्व॑र्धन्तु नो॒ गिरः॑ स॒दावृ॑धम् ||

tríkadrukeṣu cétanaṁ devā́so yajñám atnata tám íd vardhantu no gíraḥ sadā́vr̥dham

At the Trkadrukas, the gods prepared the sacrifice. May our songs strengthen him who is always a strengthener.

Stanza 8.13.19

स्तो॒ता यत्ते॒ अनु॑व्रत उ॒क्थान्यृ॑तु॒था द॒धे | शुचिः॑ पाव॒क उ॑च्यते॒ सो अद्भु॑तः ||

stotā́ yát te ánuvrata ukthā́ny r̥tuthā́ dadhé śúciḥ pāvaká ucyate só ádbhutaḥ

The singer, devoted to you and offering praises at the proper times, calls you pure, purifying, and indeed wonderful.

Stanza 8.13.20

तदिद्रु॒द्रस्य॑ चेतति य॒ह्वं प्र॒त्नेषु॒ धाम॑सु | मनो॒ यत्रा॒ वि तद्द॒धुर्विचे॑तसः ||

tád íd rudrásya cetati yahvám pratnéṣu dhā́masu máno yátrā ví tád dadhúr vícetasaḥ

That mind of Rudra, the forceful one, moves in the ancient ways. Where the wise placed it, it understands.

Stanza 8.13.21

यदि॑ मे स॒ख्यमा॒वर॑ इ॒मस्य॑ पा॒ह्यन्ध॑सः | येन॒ विश्वा॒ अति॒ द्विषो॒ अता॑रिम ||

yádi me sakhyám āvára imásya pāhy ándhasaḥ yéna víśvā áti dvíṣo átārima

If you choose friendship with me, drink this Soma juice, by which we have overcome all hatreds.

Stanza 8.13.22

क॒दा त॑ इन्द्र गिर्वणः स्तो॒ता भ॑वाति॒ शंत॑मः | क॒दा नो॒ गव्ये॒ अश्व्ये॒ वसौ॑ दधः ||

kadā́ ta indra girvaṇa stotā́ bhavāti śáṁtamaḥ kadā́ no gávye áśvye vásau dadhaḥ

When, O Indra, lover of hymns, will the singer become most blessed? When will you place us in wealth of cattle and horses?

Stanza 8.13.23

उ॒त ते॒ सुष्टु॑ता॒ हरी॒ वृष॑णा वहतो॒ रथ॑म् | अ॒जु॒र्यस्य॑ म॒दिन्त॑मं॒ यमीम॑हे ||

utá te súṣṭutā hárī vŕ̥ṣaṇā vahato rátham ajuryásya madíntamaṁ yám ī́mahe

Your two well-praised, strong horses draw the chariot. Your gladdening chariot, untouched by age, we pray for.

Stanza 8.13.24

तमी॑महे पुरुष्टु॒तं य॒ह्वं प्र॒त्नाभि॑रू॒तिभिः॑ | नि ब॒र्हिषि॑ प्रि॒ये स॑द॒दध॑ द्वि॒ता ||

tám īmahe puruṣṭutáṁ yahvám pratnā́bhir ūtíbhiḥ ní barhíṣi priyé sadad ádha dvitā́

We implore that greatly praised, strong one, with ancient aids. He has long sat upon the dear grass.

Stanza 8.13.25

वर्ध॑स्वा॒ सु पु॑रुष्टुत॒ ऋषि॑ष्टुताभिरू॒तिभिः॑ | धु॒क्षस्व॑ पि॒प्युषी॒मिष॒मवा॑ च नः ||

várdhasvā sú puruṣṭuta ŕ̥ṣiṣṭutābhir ūtíbhiḥ dhukṣásva pipyúṣīm íṣam ávā ca naḥ

Grow strong, O much-praised one, with aids praised by sages. Bestow abundant food and protect us.

Stanza 8.13.26

इन्द्र॒ त्वम॑वि॒तेद॑सी॒त्था स्तु॑व॒तो अ॑द्रिवः | ऋ॒तादि॑यर्मि ते॒ धियं॑ मनो॒युज॑म् ||

índra tvám avitéd asītthā́ stuvató adrivaḥ r̥tā́d iyarmi te dhíyam manoyújam

O Indra, protector, thunderer, you are indeed the helper of the worshipper. From the sacrifice, I send to you the mind-energizing hymn.

Stanza 8.13.27

इ॒ह त्या स॑ध॒माद्या॑ युजा॒नः सोम॑पीतये | हरी॑ इन्द्र प्र॒तद्व॑सू अ॒भि स्व॑र ||

ihá tyā́ sadhamā́dyā yujānáḥ sómapītaye hárī indra pratádvasū abhí svara

Here, yoking, come with those who share your feast, for drinking Soma. O Indra, your wealth-filled horses consent.

Stanza 8.13.28

अ॒भि स्व॑रन्तु॒ ये तव॑ रु॒द्रासः॑ सक्षत॒ श्रिय॑म् | उ॒तो म॒रुत्व॑ती॒र्विशो॑ अ॒भि प्रयः॑ ||

abhí svarantu yé táva rudrā́saḥ sakṣata śríyam utó marútvatīr víśo abhí práyaḥ

Let those who follow your glory roar, O Indra. Let the Marut-led people also come to the desire (feast).

Stanza 8.13.29

इ॒मा अ॑स्य॒ प्रतू॑र्तयः प॒दं जु॑षन्त॒ यद्दि॒वि | नाभा॑ य॒ज्ञस्य॒ सं द॑धु॒र्यथा॑ वि॒दे ||

imā́ asya prátūrtayaḥ padáṁ juṣanta yád diví nā́bhā yajñásya sáṁ dadhur yáthā vidé

These victorious movements of his (Indra), pleasing in the sky, have joined together in the heart of the sacrifice, as is known.

Stanza 8.13.30

अ॒यं दी॒र्घाय॒ चक्ष॑से॒ प्राचि॑ प्रय॒त्य॑ध्व॒रे | मिमी॑ते य॒ज्ञमा॑नु॒षग्वि॒चक्ष्य॑ ||

ayáṁ dīrghā́ya cákṣase prā́ci prayaty àdhvaré mímīte yajñám ānuṣág vicákṣya

For long sight, as the ritual moves forward, he measures the sacrifice, clearly perceiving it.

Stanza 8.13.31

वृषा॒यमि॑न्द्र ते॒ रथ॑ उ॒तो ते॒ वृष॑णा॒ हरी॑ | वृषा॒ त्वं श॑तक्रतो॒ वृषा॒ हवः॑ ||

vŕ̥ṣāyám indra te rátha utó te vŕ̥ṣaṇā hárī vŕ̥ṣā tváṁ śatakrato vŕ̥ṣā hávaḥ

O Indra, strong is this chariot of yours, and your strong horses. O hundred-skilled one, you are strong, strong is our call.

Stanza 8.13.32

वृषा॒ ग्रावा॒ वृषा॒ मदो॒ वृषा॒ सोमो॑ अ॒यं सु॒तः | वृषा॑ य॒ज्ञो यमिन्व॑सि॒ वृषा॒ हवः॑ ||

vŕ̥ṣā grā́vā vŕ̥ṣā mádo vŕ̥ṣā sómo ayáṁ sutáḥ vŕ̥ṣā yajñó yám ínvasi vŕ̥ṣā hávaḥ

Strong is the pressing stone, strong is the exhilaration, strong is this pressed Soma. Strong is the sacrifice you further, strong is our call.

Stanza 8.13.33

वृषा॑ त्वा॒ वृष॑णं हुवे॒ वज्रि॑ञ्चि॒त्राभि॑रू॒तिभिः॑ | वा॒वन्थ॒ हि प्रति॑ष्टुतिं॒ वृषा॒ हवः॑ ||

vŕ̥ṣā tvā vŕ̥ṣaṇaṁ huve vájriñ citrā́bhir ūtíbhiḥ vāvántha hí prátiṣṭutiṁ vŕ̥ṣā hávaḥ

As strong, I call upon you, the strong thunderer, with your manifold aids. You have indeed won praise; strong is our call.
