पु॒नी॒षे वा॑मर॒क्षसं॑ मनी॒षां सोम॒मिन्द्रा॑य॒ वरु॑णाय॒ जुह्व॑त् | घृ॒तप्र॑तीकामु॒षसं॒ न दे॒वीं ता नो॒ याम॑न्नुरुष्यताम॒भीके॑ ||
punīṣé vām arakṣásam manīṣā́ṁ sómam índrāya váruṇāya júhvat ghr̥tápratīkām uṣásaṁ ná devī́ṁ tā́ no yā́mann uruṣyatām abhī́ke
I prepare for you, O gods, a harmless hymn with my thoughts, offering Soma to Indra and Varuṇa. May this hymn, like the brilliant dawn with its radiance, protect us in our advance and protect us in the forefront.
The speaker addresses the twin deities, Indra and Varuṇa, dedicating a hymn and Soma libations to them. The hymn is compared to the dawn, full of brilliance and sustenance. The poet requests the gods' presence and protection during a journey or battle.

स्पर्ध॑न्ते॒ वा उ॑ देव॒हूये॒ अत्र॒ येषु॑ ध्व॒जेषु॑ दि॒द्यवः॒ पत॑न्ति | यु॒वं ताँ इ॑न्द्रावरुणाव॒मित्रा॑न्ह॒तं परा॑चः॒ शर्वा॒ विषू॑चः ||
spárdhante vā́ u devahū́ye átra yéṣu dhvajéṣu didyávaḥ pátanti yuváṁ tā́m̐ indrāvaruṇāv amítrān hatám párācaḥ śárvā víṣūcaḥ
They compete in invoking the gods in this place where banners fly and arrows fall. O Indra and Varuṇa, you two destroy these enemies, drive them far away, striking them with arrows in all directions.
The poet describes a scene of conflict where both sides invoke the gods. He calls upon Indra and Varuṇa to strike down the enemies, scattering them in all directions with their weapons.

ā́paś cid dhí sváyaśasaḥ sádassu devī́r índraṁ váruṇaṁ devátā dhúḥ kr̥ṣṭī́r anyó dhāráyati práviktā vr̥trā́ṇy anyó apratī́ni hanti
The waters themselves, brilliant in their places, goddesses, have set up Indra and Varuṇa as the divine powers. One of them sustains the separated peoples, the other destroys the unresisting obstacles.

May that priest, who is wise and knows the cosmic order, who approaches you with devotion, O Adityas, draw near to you with his offerings, by your power. Let him be well-provided for his sustenance.
The poet prays that the priest who performs the rituals with devotion and understanding will approach Indra and Varuṇa. This priest, skilled in divine knowledge and devoted, will be aided by the gods for their well-being and sustenance.

This my praise, which has reached Indra and Varuṇa, is eager to protect my offspring and progeny. May we go to the divine gathering with good riches. You always protect us with well-being.
The poet dedicates his hymn to Indra and Varuṇa, stating that it has reached them and is eager to protect his children and descendants. He wishes to join the divine assembly with blessings and asks the gods to always protect them with auspiciousness.
