प्र स॒म्राजो॒ असु॑रस्य॒ प्रश॑स्तिं पुं॒सः कृ॑ष्टी॒नाम॑नु॒माद्य॑स्य | इन्द्र॑स्येव॒ प्र त॒वस॑स्कृ॒तानि॒ वन्दे॑ दा॒रुं वन्द॑मानो विवक्मि ||
prá samrā́jo ásurasya práśastim puṁsáḥ kr̥ṣṭīnā́m anumā́dyasya índrasyeva prá tavásas kr̥tā́ni vánde dārúṁ vándamāno vivakmi
I praise the supreme Ruler, the Asura, the manly one of the people, whose greatness is worthy of praise. I laud his powerful actions, which are like Indra's, and I praise the fort-destroyer.
The seer praises the supreme Ruler, Asura, who is the source of strength for all mankind. He invokes Indra-like power and celebrates the deeds of this mighty being, identified as the destroyer of forts.

The wise, the beacon, the sustainer, the brilliant one, they bring him from the mountain. I celebrate with songs the kingly power, the blessedness for earth and heaven, of the fort-destroyer Agni's ancient, great deeds.
The seer invokes Agni, the wise one, the light-bringer, the sustainer, the brilliant, the sovereign of the earth and sky. He describes how Agni is brought forth from the mountain and expresses a desire to serve him through hymns, celebrating his ancient and great deeds.

ny àkratū́n grathíno mr̥dhrávācaḥ paṇī́m̐r aśraddhā́m̐ avr̥dhā́m̐ ayajñā́n prá-pra tā́n dásyūm̐r agnír vivāya pū́rvaś cakārā́parām̐ áyajyūn
Agni has driven away those who are without wisdom, bound, with harsh speech, the greedy ones, the faithless, the unsupported, the sacrificeless Dasysu. He has also banished the godless ones.
The seer describes Agni as driving away the wicked Dasyus who lack wisdom, are bound by rituals, speak harshly, are greedy, faithless, and do not perform sacrifices. Agni has banished them, as he has also banished the godless.

He who, most excellent among men, with his powers, made the eastern ones out of the western darkness. That Agni, the lord of riches, I praise: unyielding, conquering the attackers.
The seer praises Agni as the most excellent among men, who, through his powers, transformed the darkness in the west into the light of the east. He extols this Agni as the lord of wealth, who is unyielding and masters those who attack.

He who, with destructive force, broke down the fortifications, and made the noble women guardians. That strong Agni, after conquering Nahusha, made the tribes pay tribute with his might.
The seer celebrates Agni for his powerful actions: he broke down defenses with destructive weapons and established noble women as protectors. This young Agni, by conquering the tribes of Nahusha, made them tributary, exerting his great strength.

In whose protection all people, seeking favor, have settled. Agni Vaishvanara has occupied the best place in the lap of his parents, earth and sky.
The seer describes how all people seek refuge and favor in Agni's protection, begging for his goodwill. Agni Vaishvanara, the divine presence, has found the most excellent seat within his parents, the earth and sky.

The divine Vaishvanara took the hidden treasures at the setting of the sun. Agni took them from the lower and upper seas, from the sky and from the earth.
The divine Agni Vaishvanara takes up all treasures from deep within, at the setting of the sun. Agni collects these hidden riches from the lower and upper seas, from the earth, and from the sky.
