ā́po yáṁ vaḥ prathamáṁ devayánta indrapā́nam ūrmím ákr̥ṇvateḷáḥ táṁ vo vayáṁ śúcim ariprám adyá ghr̥taprúṣam mádhumantaṁ vanema

O Waters, we today wish to obtain from you that pure, abundant wave which the devout once prepared as Indra's drink. We, who worship the divine, want to cultivate this pure, flowing, ghee-like, and sweet stream.

May that stream, O Waters, the sweetest for you, which the swift-moving offspring of the waters protects, and in which Indra rejoices with the Vasus, may we who worship the divine, obtain it today.

Joyful in their own power, the all-purifying goddess-waters move towards the divine sustenance. They do not violate Indra's ordinances. Offer the ghee-laden oblation to the rivers.

O Streams, whom Surya has extended with his rays, and for whom Indra dug a path, may you grant us ample room and freedom. Always protect us with blessings.
