imā́ rudrā́ya sthirádhanvane gíraḥ kṣipréṣave devā́ya svadhā́vne áṣāḷhāya sáhamānāya vedháse tigmā́yudhāya bharatā śr̥ṇótu naḥ

To Rudra, the god with the firm bow, the swift-arrowed, self-reliant, and unconquered one, the wise, the mighty, and sharp-weaponed deity, we offer these songs. May he hear us.

Stanza 7.46.2

sá hí kṣáyeṇa kṣámyasya jánmanaḥ sā́mrājyena divyásya cétati ávann ávantīr úpa no dúraś carānamīvó rudra jā́su no bhava

For he, as lord, watches over earthly births, and with his universal dominion, over heavenly ones. Come to our homes, O Rudra, with protection, be free from illness among our people.

Stanza 7.46.3

May that bright flash of yours, sent from heaven and moving across the earth, pass us by! You have a thousand remedies, O you who are easily accessible; do not harm our children and our descendants.

Stanza 7.46.4

Do not strike us, O Rudra, do not abandon us! May we not be captured by your furious pursuit. Grant us a share in the sacred grass and in the praise of the living. May you always protect us with blessings.
