Stanza 7.2.1

जु॒षस्व॑ नः स॒मिध॑मग्ने अ॒द्य शोचा॑ बृ॒हद्य॑ज॒तं धू॒ममृ॒ण्वन् | उप॑ स्पृश दि॒व्यं सानु॒ स्तूपैः॒ सं र॒श्मिभि॑स्ततनः॒ सूर्य॑स्य ||

juṣásva naḥ samídham agne adyá śócā br̥hád yajatáṁ dhūmám r̥ṇván úpa spr̥śa divyáṁ sā́nu stū́paiḥ sáṁ raśmíbhis tatanaḥ sū́ryasya

Agni, joyfully accept our offering of fuel today! Shine brightly and send up your magnificent smoke. Touch the heavenly heights with your fiery columns, and spread yourself with the sun's rays.

Stanza 7.2.2

नरा॒शंस॑स्य महि॒मान॑मेषा॒मुप॑ स्तोषाम यज॒तस्य॑ य॒ज्ञैः | ये सु॒क्रत॑वः॒ शुच॑यो धियं॒धाः स्वद॑न्ति दे॒वा उ॒भया॑नि ह॒व्या ||

nárāśáṁsasya mahimā́nam eṣām úpa stoṣāma yajatásya yajñaíḥ yé sukrátavaḥ śúcayo dhiyaṁdhā́ḥ svádanti devā́ ubháyāni havyā́

With sacrifices, we wish to praise the greatness of this divine being, Narashamsa. For these wise and pure deities, who inspire our thoughts, accept both kinds of offerings given with our rituals.

Stanza 7.2.3

ई॒ळेन्यं॑ वो॒ असु॑रं सु॒दक्ष॑म॒न्तर्दू॒तं रोद॑सी सत्य॒वाच॑म् | म॒नु॒ष्वद॒ग्निं मनु॑ना॒ समि॑द्धं॒ सम॑ध्व॒राय॒ सद॒मिन्म॑हेम ||

īḷényaṁ vo ásuraṁ sudákṣam antár dūtáṁ ródasī satyavā́cam manuṣvád agním mánunā sámiddhaṁ sám adhvarā́ya sádam ín mahema

We will always praise you, O Agni, who are skillful, an Asura, worthy of worship, a messenger between the worlds, and truthful. As Manu kindled you, may we, like men, worship you forever in our sacrifices.

Stanza 7.2.4

स॒प॒र्यवो॒ भर॑माणा अभि॒ज्ञु प्र वृ॑ञ्जते॒ नम॑सा ब॒र्हिर॒ग्नौ | आ॒जुह्वा॑ना घृ॒तपृ॑ष्ठं॒ पृष॑द्व॒दध्व॑र्यवो ह॒विषा॑ मर्जयध्वम् ||

saparyávo bháramāṇā abhijñú prá vr̥ñjate námasā barhír agnaú ājúhvānā ghr̥tápr̥ṣṭham pŕ̥ṣadvad ádhvaryavo havíṣā marjayadhvam

O priests who serve, lay down the sacred grass with reverence towards Agni. O Adhvaryus, calling upon the ghee-covered and speckled Agni, adorn him with oblations and purify him.

Stanza 7.2.5

स्वा॒ध्यो॒३॒॑ वि दुरो॑ देव॒यन्तोऽशि॑श्रयू रथ॒युर्दे॒वता॑ता | पू॒र्वी शिशुं॒ न मा॒तरा॑ रिहा॒णे सम॒ग्रुवो॒ न सम॑नेष्वञ्जन् ||

svādhyò ví dúro devayántó 'śiśrayū rathayúr devátātā pūrvī́ śíśuṁ ná mātárā rihāṇé sám agrúvo ná sámaneṣv añjan

The devoted ones, with pious thoughts, opened the doors for the gods. As chariots are prepared, so were the divine assemblies readied. Like mothers lovingly licking their young, or maidens adorning themselves for a festival, they prepared the divine offerings.

Stanza 7.2.6

उ॒त योष॑णे दि॒व्ये म॒ही न॑ उ॒षासा॒नक्ता॑ सु॒दुघे॑व धे॒नुः | ब॒र्हि॒षदा॑ पुरुहू॒ते म॒घोनी॒ आ य॒ज्ञिये॑ सुवि॒ताय॑ श्रयेताम् ||

utá yóṣaṇe divyé mahī́ na uṣā́sānáktā sudúgheva dhenúḥ barhiṣádā puruhūté maghónī ā́ yajñíye suvitā́ya śrayetām

Let the two celestial, mighty goddesses, Dawn and Night, like a milk-giving cow, be seated on our sacred grass for our well-being. They are much invoked, wealthy, and deserving of worship.

Stanza 7.2.7

विप्रा॑ य॒ज्ञेषु॒ मानु॑षेषु का॒रू मन्ये॑ वां जा॒तवे॑दसा॒ यज॑ध्यै | ऊ॒र्ध्वं नो॑ अध्व॒रं कृ॑तं॒ हवे॑षु॒ ता दे॒वेषु॑ वनथो॒ वार्या॑णि ||

víprā yajñéṣu mā́nuṣeṣu kārū́ mánye vāṁ jātávedasā yájadhyai ūrdhváṁ no adhvaráṁ kr̥taṁ háveṣu tā́ devéṣu vanatho vā́ryāṇi

O wise ones, O singers, in human sacrifices, I intend to worship you, O knowledge-possessing Agni and Indra. Make our sacrifice ascend and, in return, grant us desirable things among the gods.

Stanza 7.2.8

आ भार॑ती॒ भार॑तीभिः स॒जोषा॒ इळा॑ दे॒वैर्म॑नु॒ष्ये॑भिर॒ग्निः | सर॑स्वती सारस्व॒तेभि॑र॒र्वाक्ति॒स्रो दे॒वीर्ब॒र्हिरेदं स॑दन्तु ||

ā́ bhā́ratī bhā́ratībhiḥ sajóṣā íḷā devaír manuṣyèbhir agníḥ sárasvatī sārasvatébhir arvā́k tisró devī́r barhír édáṁ sadantu

May Bharati, in unison with her companions, Ila with the gods and mortals, and Sarasvati with her river associations, come seated upon this sacred grass. May these three goddesses be present.

Stanza 7.2.9

तन्न॑स्तु॒रीप॒मध॑ पोषयि॒त्नु देव॑ त्वष्ट॒र्वि र॑रा॒णः स्य॑स्व | यतो॑ वी॒रः क॑र्म॒ण्यः॑ सु॒दक्षो॑ यु॒क्तग्रा॑वा॒ जाय॑ते दे॒वका॑मः ||

tán nas turī́pam ádha poṣayitnú déva tvaṣṭar ví rarāṇáḥ syasva yáto vīráḥ karmaṇyàḥ sudákṣo yuktágrāvā jā́yate devákāmaḥ

O divine craftsman Tvashṭar, well-pleased with us, give us fertile offspring. From whom springs a strong, skillful hero, devoted to the gods and prepared for sacred duties.

Stanza 7.2.10

वन॑स्प॒तेऽव॑ सृ॒जोप॑ दे॒वान॒ग्निर्ह॒विः श॑मि॒ता सू॑दयाति | सेदु॒ होता॑ स॒त्यत॑रो यजाति॒ यथा॑ दे॒वानां॒ जनि॑मानि॒ वेद॑ ||

vánaspaté 'va sr̥jópa devā́n agnír havíḥ śamitā́ sūdayāti séd u hótā satyátaro yajāti yáthā devā́nāṁ jánimāni véda

O Lord of Forests, send the oblation up to the gods. Agni, the consecrator, directs it. Indeed, the truest priest offers worship, for he knows the generations of the gods.

Stanza 7.2.11

आ या॑ह्यग्ने समिधा॒नो अ॒र्वाङिन्द्रे॑ण दे॒वैः स॒रथं॑ तु॒रेभिः॑ | ब॒र्हिर्न॑ आस्ता॒मदि॑तिः सुपु॒त्रा स्वाहा॑ दे॒वा अ॒मृता॑ मादयन्ताम् ||

ā́ yāhy agne samidhānó arvā́ṅ índreṇa devaíḥ saráthaṁ turébhiḥ barhír na āstām áditiḥ suputrā́ svā́hā devā́ amŕ̥tā mādayantām

Come hither, O Agni, well-kindled, with Indra and the gods, riding together with the swift ones. May Aditi, the mother of many, and the immortal gods be seated on our grass and be delighted with the offering.
