Bring songs and thoughts, O people, to Agni, the slayer of Asuras, the light of all, and the bestower of intellect. Like an oblation on the sacred grass, I offer this prayer to please Vaiśvānara, the inspirer of thoughts.
This verse is a prayer and offering to the god Agni, who is addressed as "Asura-slayer" and "light-giver of all." The speaker urges everyone to bring songs and thoughts to Agni, likening the offering to a sacrifice placed on the "grass" (likely a sacrificial altar). Agni is also invoked as "Vaiśvānara," a cosmic form, and the "inspirer of thoughts," emphasizing his universal power and role in guiding human intellect.

Agni, when born, you surveyed all the worlds like a vigilant herdsman watching his cattle. Vaiśvānara, find the way for our devotion. May you all (gods) protect us always with blessings.
The verse poetically describes Agni's omnipresence and protective nature. Upon his birth, Agni surveyed all creation, like a vigilant herdsman watching over his flock. The speaker then directly addresses Agni Vaiśvānara, asking him to find a path or way for "brahman" (sacred knowledge or devotion). Finally, the verse shifts to a collective plea to the "gods" (implied to be those associated with Agni or the overall divine pantheon) to protect the speaker and their people with well-being, always.
