अग॑न्म म॒हा नम॑सा॒ यवि॑ष्ठं॒ यो दी॒दाय॒ समि॑द्धः॒ स्वे दु॑रो॒णे | चि॒त्रभा॑नुं॒ रोद॑सी अ॒न्तरु॒र्वी स्वा॑हुतं वि॒श्वतः॑ प्र॒त्यञ्च॑म् ||
áganma mahā́ námasā yáviṣṭhaṁ yó dīdā́ya sámiddhaḥ své duroṇé citrábhānuṁ ródasī antár urvī́ svāā̀hutaṁ viśvátaḥ pratyáñcam
We have come with great reverence to the youngest (Agni), who shines brightly, well-kindled in his home. He possesses a wondrous light, spread between the wide earth and sky, well-offered, and facing all directions.
This verse describes the approach of the supplicants to the divine fire, Agni. They are filled with reverence and acknowledge his supreme position. Agni is depicted as radiant, well-kindled within his dwelling, and possessing a wondrous, all-pervading light that shines between the vast earth and sky. He is seen as being worshipped and looking in all directions, symbolizing his omnipresence and active engagement with the world.

स म॒ह्ना विश्वा॑ दुरि॒तानि॑ सा॒ह्वान॒ग्निः ष्ट॑वे॒ दम॒ आ जा॒तवे॑दाः | स नो॑ रक्षिषद्दुरि॒ताद॑व॒द्याद॒स्मान्गृ॑ण॒त उ॒त नो॑ म॒घोनः॑ ||
sá mahnā́ víśvā duritā́ni sāhvā́n agní ṣṭave dáma ā́ jātávedāḥ sá no rakṣiṣad duritā́d avadyā́d asmā́n gr̥ṇatá utá no maghónaḥ
He (Agni), by his greatness, overcomes all evils. Agni Jātavedas is praised in the home. May he protect us from evil and sin, and also protect us, who praise him, and our generous patrons.
This verse praises Agni, identifying him as 'Jātavedas' (one who knows all births or all beings). It states that through his great power, he overcomes all difficulties and misfortunes. He is invoked within the home, and the devotees pray for his protection against distress and evil. They also ask for protection for their patrons, who are generous and support the rituals.

त्वं वरु॑ण उ॒त मि॒त्रो अ॑ग्ने॒ त्वां व॑र्धन्ति म॒तिभि॒र्वसि॑ष्ठाः | त्वे वसु॑ सुषण॒नानि॑ सन्तु यू॒यं पा॑त स्व॒स्तिभिः॒ सदा॑ नः ||
tváṁ váruṇa utá mitró agne tvā́ṁ vardhanti matíbhir vásiṣṭhāḥ tvé vásu suṣaṇanā́ni santu yūyám pāta svastíbhiḥ sádā naḥ
Agni, you are Varuṇa and Mitra. The Vasiṣṭhas increase you with their thoughts. May abundant riches be with you. May you all (gods) always protect us with blessings.
The stanza addresses Agni, equating him with the cosmic deities Varuṇa (representing order and law) and Mitra (representing friendship and contracts). The Vasiṣṭha sages, through their devotional hymns, cause Agni to grow stronger. The worshippers express their desire for abundant wealth and prosperity to be present with Agni. They then invoke the gods collectively, asking for constant protection and well-being through auspicious means.
