Stanza 6.9.1
अह॑श्च कृ॒ष्णमह॒रर्जु॑नं च॒ वि व॑र्तेते॒ रज॑सी वे॒द्याभिः॑ | वै॒श्वा॒न॒रो जाय॑मानो॒ न राजावा॑तिर॒ज्ज्योति॑षा॒ग्निस्तमां॑सि ||
áhaś ca kr̥ṣṇám áhar árjunaṁ ca ví vartete rájasī vedyā́bhiḥ vaiśvānaró jā́yamāno ná rā́jā́vātiraj jyótiṣāgnís támāṁsi
The dark half of the day and the bright half of the day alternate. Both realms move by the known principles. Vaiśvānara Agni, as he is born, like a king, surpasses the darkness with his light.
This verse describes the dual nature of day and night, symbolized by light and darkness. These two aspects alternate, moving according to divine arrangements or knowledge. The radiant Agni, known as Vaiśvānara, is born as a supreme ruler, and his brilliance overcomes and dispels the darkness, signifying the triumph of light and knowledge over ignorance.

I do not know the warp, nor do I know the woof, nor the web which they weave in their contest. Whose son is he here that speaks the necessary words, assisted by the father who is near?

He indeed knows the warp, and he knows the woof; he speaks the fitting words in due season. Who, knowing this, as the guardian of immortality, descends, seeing without any other.
This verse describes an individual who possesses deep understanding of the 'warp' and 'woof' (fundamental principles) and can speak truth at the appropriate time. This person is identified as the protector of immortality, who observes and understands all things without needing external aid, moving independently and seeing clearly.

This is the Hotri (offerer), the first one; behold him, this immortal light among mortals. He was born here, firmly seated, immortal, growing in his own body.
This verse identifies the divine as the 'Hota' (offerer of sacrifice) and the primordial light among mortals. It declares that this being was born with a stable foundation, is immortal, and continuously grows in his physical form, representing an eternal and ever-developing divine presence.

My ears move to hear, my eyes to see; this light, placed in the heart, expands. My mind wanders to a distant thought. What shall I speak? What shall I think?

All the gods, fearing, bowed down to you, O Agni, when you were dwelling in darkness. May Vaiśvānara, the immortal, graciously assist us.
In the past, all the gods were filled with awe and bowed before Agni (Vaiśvānara) when he resided in darkness. Now, the speaker invokes him, asking Vaiśvānara, the immortal one, to be gracious and provide assistance and help.
