Stanza 6.66.1

vápur nú tác cikitúṣe cid astu samānáṁ nā́ma dhenú pátyamānam márteṣv anyád doháse pīpā́ya sakŕ̥c chukráṁ duduhe pŕ̥śnir ū́dhaḥ

Let this indeed be a wonder, even to the wise, that the name of 'cow' is given to different entities. One is always full for milking among people, but Prishni, with her udder, has milked brightly only once.

Stanza 6.66.2

yé agnáyo ná śóśucann idhānā́ dvír yát trír marúto vāvr̥dhánta areṇávo hiraṇyáyāsa eṣāṁ sākáṁ nr̥mṇaíḥ paúṁsyebhiś ca bhūvan

They, like kindled fires, shone brightly. The Maruts, growing stronger twice and thrice, possessed golden, dustless chariots filled with strength and manly power.

Stanza 6.66.3

rudrásya yé mīḷhúṣaḥ sánti putrā́ yā́ṁś co nú dā́dhr̥vir bháradhyai vidé hí mātā́ mahó mahī́ ṣā́ sét pŕ̥śniḥ subhvè gárbham ā́dhāt

They who are the sons of the bounteous Rudra, whom she was strong enough to bear; for she, the great mother, is known to have conceived the germ for the mighty one.

Stanza 6.66.4

ná yá ī́ṣante janúṣó 'yā nv àntáḥ sánto 'vadyā́ni punānā́ḥ nír yád duhré śúcayó 'nu jóṣam ánu śriyā́ tanvàm ukṣámāṇāḥ

They do not shrink from birth. While within, they purify themselves from faults. When they emerge brilliant, they joyfully sprinkle their bodies with splendor, moving freely.

Stanza 6.66.5

makṣū́ ná yéṣu doháse cid ayā́ ā́ nā́ma dhr̥ṣṇú mā́rutaṁ dádhānāḥ ná yé staunā́ ayā́so mahnā́ nū́ cit sudā́nur áva yāsad ugrā́n

They swiftly assume the bold name of Maruts. Whom can the generous one stop, when they, powerful in their greatness, are always ready? None can overcome them, neither the slow nor the inactive.

Stanza 6.66.6

tá íd ugrā́ḥ śávasā dhr̥ṣṇúṣeṇā ubhé yujanta ródasī suméke ádha smaiṣu rodasī́ sváśocir ā́mavatsu tasthau ná rókaḥ

Fierce with strength and with armies of daring, they united both heaven and earth, well-formed. Then Rodasi, self-shining, stood among the impetuous Maruts like a light.

Stanza 6.66.7

anenó vo maruto yā́mo astv anaśváś cid yám ájaty árathīḥ anavasó anabhīśū́ rajastū́r ví ródasī pathyāā̀ yāti sā́dhan

Let your chariot, O Maruts, not be drawn by goats, nor by horses, nor be driven by any charioteer. Moving without support and without reins, it traverses the paths between heaven and earth.

Stanza 6.66.8

nā́sya vartā́ ná tarutā́ nv àsti máruto yám ávatha vā́jasātau toké vā góṣu tánaye yám apsú sá vrajáṁ dártā pā́rye ádha dyóḥ

No one can stop or overcome him whom you, O Maruts, protect in battle. He whom you protect in his children, cattle, kin, and waters, he breaks the stronghold at the end of the day.

Stanza 6.66.9

prá citrám arkáṁ gr̥ṇaté turā́ya mā́rutāya svátavase bharadhvam yé sáhāṁsi sáhasā sáhante réjate agne pr̥thivī́ makhébhyaḥ

Bring forth a bright song to praise the swift and strong Maruts, the singers. They who conquer strengths with strength, O Agni, the earth trembles before the mighty warriors.

Stanza 6.66.10

tvíṣīmanto adhvarásyeva didyút tr̥ṣucyávaso juhvò nā́gnéḥ arcátrayo dhúnayo ná vīrā́ bhrā́jajjanmāno marúto ádhr̥ṣṭāḥ

Blazing like the sacrificial flames, flickering like tongues of fire, movers, shouters, like heroes, flame-born, the unassailable Maruts.

Stanza 6.66.11

I invite with invocation that growing, brilliant, Marut-like son of Rudra. Pure hymns are for that divine host; the strong ones, like floods and mountains, do not yield to opposition.
