This Sarasvati, mighty and powerful, gave the wealth- remover, Divodasa, to Vadhryashva. She who destroyed the stingy Pani, O Sarasvati, all these are your gifts.

This is a plea for protection and favor from Sarasvati. The devotees ask her to lead them towards prosperity ('vasyaḥ') and not to withhold her sustenance ('payasā'). They wish for her acceptance of their friendship ('sakhyā') and obedience ('veśyā'), and importantly, to never have to seek sustenance in barren lands ('araṇāni kṣetrāṇi').
