Stanza 6.45.1

य आन॑यत्परा॒वतः॒ सुनी॑ती तु॒र्वशं॒ यदु॑म् | इन्द्रः॒ स नो॒ युवा॒ सखा॑ ||

yá ā́nayat parāvátaḥ súnītī turváśaṁ yádum índraḥ sá no yúvā sákhā

May that Indra, our youthful friend, who with excellent guidance rescued Turvaśa and Yadu from afar, be with us.

Stanza 6.45.2

अ॒वि॒प्रे चि॒द्वयो॒ दध॑दना॒शुना॑ चि॒दर्व॑ता | इन्द्रो॒ जेता॑ हि॒तं धन॑म् ||

avipré cid váyo dádhad anāśúnā cid árvatā índro jétā hitáṁ dhánam

Indra, the winner, grants vital energy even to the dull, and gains the cherished wealth with a slow steed.

Stanza 6.45.3

म॒हीर॑स्य॒ प्रणी॑तयः पू॒र्वीरु॒त प्रश॑स्तयः | नास्य॑ क्षीयन्त ऊ॒तयः॑ ||

mahī́r asya práṇītayaḥ pūrvī́r utá práśastayaḥ nā́sya kṣīyanta ūtáyaḥ

His guiding powers are great, and his praises are excellent; his protections never fail.

Stanza 6.45.4

सखा॑यो॒ ब्रह्म॑वाह॒सेऽर्च॑त॒ प्र च॑ गायत | स हि नः॒ प्रम॑तिर्म॒ही ||

sákhāyo bráhmavāhasé 'rcata prá ca gāyata sá hí naḥ prámatir mahī́

Friends, praise and sing to him who is praised, for he is our great providence.

Stanza 6.45.5

त्वमेक॑स्य वृत्रहन्नवि॒ता द्वयो॑रसि | उ॒तेदृशे॒ यथा॑ व॒यम् ||

tvám ékasya vr̥trahann avitā́ dváyor asi utédŕ̥śe yáthā vayám

You, O slayer of Vritra, are the protector and friend of one, of two, and also of one like us.

Stanza 6.45.6

नय॒सीद्वति॒ द्विषः॑ कृ॒णोष्यु॑क्थशं॒सिनः॑ | नृभिः॑ सु॒वीर॑ उच्यसे ||

náyasī́d v áti dvíṣaḥ kr̥ṇóṣy ukthaśaṁsínaḥ nŕ̥bhiḥ suvī́ra ucyase

You lead us beyond hatred and make us sing praises; you are called a great hero by men.

Stanza 6.45.7

ब्र॒ह्माणं॒ ब्रह्म॑वाहसं गी॒र्भिः सखा॑यमृ॒ग्मिय॑म् | गां न दो॒हसे॑ हुवे ||

brahmā́ṇam bráhmavāhasaṁ gīrbhíḥ sákhāyam r̥gmíyam gā́ṁ ná doháse huve

With hymns, I call you, the friend, the worthy, the Brahman who carries prayers, like a cow for milking.

Stanza 6.45.8

यस्य॒ विश्वा॑नि॒ हस्त॑योरू॒चुर्वसू॑नि॒ नि द्वि॒ता | वी॒रस्य॑ पृतना॒षहः॑ ||

yásya víśvāni hástayor ūcúr vásūni ní dvitā́ vīrásya pr̥tanāṣáhaḥ

They say all treasures are in the hands of that hero who conquers in battle.

Stanza 6.45.9

वि दृ॒ळ्हानि॑ चिदद्रिवो॒ जना॑नां शचीपते | वृ॒ह मा॒या अ॑नानत ||

ví dr̥ḷhā́ni cid adrivo jánānāṁ śacīpate vr̥há māyā́ anānata

O Lord of Strength, O Caster of the Stone, destroy the strongholds of men and their arts; may you not be overcome.

Stanza 6.45.10

तमु॑ त्वा सत्य सोमपा॒ इन्द्र॑ वाजानां पते | अहू॑महि श्रव॒स्यवः॑ ||

tám u tvā satya somapā índra vājānām pate áhūmahi śravasyávaḥ

We invoke you, O true Indra, drinker of Soma, lord of powers, for glory.

Stanza 6.45.11

तमु॑ त्वा॒ यः पु॒रासि॑थ॒ यो वा॑ नू॒नं हि॒ते धने॑ | हव्यः॒ स श्रु॑धी॒ हव॑म् ||

tám u tvā yáḥ purā́sitha yó vā nūnáṁ hité dháne hávyaḥ sá śrudhī hávam

We invoke you, as you were in the past and are now when wealth is placed, listen to our call.

Stanza 6.45.12

धी॒भिरर्व॑द्भि॒रर्व॑तो॒ वाजाँ॑ इन्द्र श्र॒वाय्या॑न् | त्वया॑ जेष्म हि॒तं धन॑म् ||

dhībhír árvadbhir árvato vā́jām̐ indra śravā́yyān tváyā jeṣma hitáṁ dhánam

With hymns and steeds, O Indra, through you we shall win glorious wealth and prizes.

Stanza 6.45.13

अभू॑रु वीर गिर्वणो म॒हाँ इ॑न्द्र॒ धने॑ हि॒ते | भरे॑ वितन्त॒साय्यः॑ ||

ábhūr u vīra girvaṇo mahā́m̐ indra dháne hité bháre vitantasā́yyaḥ

O Indra, lover of song, you have been great in the contest for the prize, you who are stimulated by hymns.

Stanza 6.45.14

या त॑ ऊ॒तिर॑मित्रहन्म॒क्षूज॑वस्त॒मास॑ति | तया॑ नो हिनुही॒ रथ॑म् ||

yā́ ta ūtír amitrahan makṣū́javastamā́sati táyā no hinuhī rátham

O slayer of enemies, with your swiftest aid, propel our chariot.

Stanza 6.45.15

स रथे॑न र॒थीत॑मो॒ऽस्माके॑नाभि॒युग्व॑ना | जेषि॑ जिष्णो हि॒तं धन॑म् ||

sá ráthena rathī́tamo 'smā́kenābhiyúgvanā jéṣi jiṣṇo hitáṁ dhánam

O most skilled charioteer, O conqueror, win the prize with our chariot and skill.

Stanza 6.45.16

य एक॒ इत्तमु॑ ष्टुहि कृष्टी॒नां विच॑र्षणिः | पति॑र्ज॒ज्ञे वृष॑क्रतुः ||

yá éka ít tám u ṣṭuhi kr̥ṣṭīnā́ṁ vícarṣaṇiḥ pátir jajñé vŕ̥ṣakratuḥ

Praise him, the unique one, the discerning ruler of peoples, who was born a hero of strong resolve.

Stanza 6.45.17

यो गृ॑ण॒तामिदासि॑था॒पिरू॒ती शि॒वः सखा॑ | स त्वं न॑ इन्द्र मृळय ||

yó gr̥ṇatā́m íd ā́sithāpír ūtī́ śiváḥ sákhā sá tváṁ na indra mr̥ḷaya

You who have been a friend to the singers, a gracious friend with aid, O Indra, favor us.

Stanza 6.45.18

धि॒ष्व वज्रं॒ गभ॑स्त्यो रक्षो॒हत्या॑य वज्रिवः | सा॒स॒ही॒ष्ठा अ॒भि स्पृधः॑ ||

dhiṣvá vájraṁ gábhastyo rakṣohátyāya vajrivaḥ sāsahīṣṭhā́ abhí spŕ̥dhaḥ

Grasp the thunderbolt in your arms, O Thunder-armed one, for the slaughter of demons; may you be victorious over adversaries.

Stanza 6.45.19

प्र॒त्नं र॑यी॒णां युजं॒ सखा॑यं कीरि॒चोद॑नम् | ब्रह्म॑वाहस्तमं हुवे ||

pratnáṁ rayīṇā́ṁ yújaṁ sákhāyaṁ kīricódanam bráhmavāhastamaṁ huve

I call you, the ancient friend of wealth, the swift one for the humble, the best carrier of prayers.

Stanza 6.45.20

स हि विश्वा॑नि॒ पार्थि॑वाँ॒ एको॒ वसू॑नि॒ पत्य॑ते | गिर्व॑णस्तमो॒ अध्रि॑गुः ||

sá hí víśvāni pā́rthivām̐ éko vásūni pátyate gírvaṇastamo ádhriguḥ

He alone is lord of all earthly treasures; he moves, the most praised, the invincible.

Stanza 6.45.21

स नो॑ नि॒युद्भि॒रा पृ॑ण॒ कामं॒ वाजे॑भिर॒श्विभिः॑ | गोम॑द्भिर्गोपते धृ॒षत् ||

sá no niyúdbhir ā́ pr̥ṇa kā́maṁ vā́jebhir aśvíbhiḥ gómadbhir gopate dhr̥ṣát

O Lord of cattle, fill us with desire and wealth through your teams and horses; act boldly.

Stanza 6.45.22

तद्वो॑ गाय सु॒ते सचा॑ पुरुहू॒ताय॒ सत्व॑ने | शं यद्गवे॒ न शा॒किने॑ ||

tád vo gāya suté sácā puruhūtā́ya sátvane śáṁ yád gáve ná śākíne

Sing this to the greatly invoked hero, O singers, as the Soma is pressed, like a strong bull.

Stanza 6.45.23

न घा॒ वसु॒र्नि य॑मते दा॒नं वाज॑स्य॒ गोम॑तः | यत्सी॒मुप॒ श्रव॒द्गिरः॑ ||

ná ghā vásur ní yamate dānáṁ vā́jasya gómataḥ yát sīm úpa śrávad gíraḥ

Indeed, the excellent one does not withhold the gift of power and wealth of cattle, when he hears the songs.

Stanza 6.45.24

कु॒वित्स॑स्य॒ प्र हि व्र॒जं गोम॑न्तं दस्यु॒हा गम॑त् | शची॑भि॒रप॑ नो वरत् ||

kuvítsasya prá hí vrajáṁ gómantaṁ dasyuhā́ gámat śácībhir ápa no varat

May the slayer of the Dasyu, with his might, open the cow-pen for us.

Stanza 6.45.25

इ॒मा उ॑ त्वा शतक्रतो॒ऽभि प्र णो॑नुवु॒र्गिरः॑ | इन्द्र॑ व॒त्सं न मा॒तरः॑ ||

imā́ u tvā śatakrato 'bhí prá ṇonuvur gíraḥ índra vatsáṁ ná mātáraḥ

These songs, O Indra Shatakratu, call to you, like mothers calling their calves.

Stanza 6.45.26

दू॒णाशं॑ स॒ख्यं तव॒ गौर॑सि वीर गव्य॒ते | अश्वो॑ अश्वाय॒ते भ॑व ||

dūṇā́śaṁ sakhyáṁ táva gaúr asi vīra gavyaté áśvo aśvāyaté bhava

Your friendship is difficult to win; you are a bull for those who desire cattle, and a horse for those who desire horses.

Stanza 6.45.27

स म॑न्दस्वा॒ ह्यन्ध॑सो॒ राध॑से त॒न्वा॑ म॒हे | न स्तो॒तारं॑ नि॒दे क॑रः ||

sá mandasvā hy ándhaso rā́dhase tanvāā̀ mahé ná stotā́raṁ nidé karaḥ

Rejoice in the Soma juice, O Indra, for your great generosity; do not abandon your singer.

Stanza 6.45.28

इ॒मा उ॑ त्वा सु॒तेसु॑ते॒ नक्ष॑न्ते गिर्वणो॒ गिरः॑ | व॒त्सं गावो॒ न धे॒नवः॑ ||

imā́ u tvā suté-sute nákṣante girvaṇo gíraḥ vatsáṁ gā́vo ná dhenávaḥ

These songs, O lover of songs, approach you with each pressing of Soma, like cows to their calves.

Stanza 6.45.29

पु॒रू॒तमं॑ पुरू॒णां स्तो॑तॄ॒णां विवा॑चि | वाजे॑भिर्वाजय॒ताम् ||

purūtámam purūṇā́ṁ stotr̥r̥ṇā́ṁ vívāci vā́jebhir vājayatā́m

To you, most invoked among the many rivals, O desirous of wealth, with wealth.

Stanza 6.45.30

अ॒स्माक॑मिन्द्र भूतु ते॒ स्तोमो॒ वाहि॑ष्ठो॒ अन्त॑मः | अ॒स्मान्रा॒ये म॒हे हि॑नु ||

asmā́kam indra bhūtu te stómo vā́hiṣṭho ántamaḥ asmā́n rāyé mahé hinu

May our praise, O Indra, be most attractive and nearest to you. Urge us onward to great wealth.

Stanza 6.45.31

अधि॑ बृ॒बुः प॑णी॒नां वर्षि॑ष्ठे मू॒र्धन्न॑स्थात् | उ॒रुः कक्षो॒ न गा॒ङ्ग्यः ||

ádhi br̥búḥ paṇīnā́ṁ várṣiṣṭhe mūrdhánn asthāt urúḥ kákṣo ná gāṅgyáḥ

Br̥ibu has risen above the Paṇis, standing over their highest heads, like a wide bush on the Ganges.

Stanza 6.45.32

यस्य॑ वा॒योरि॑व द्र॒वद्भ॒द्रा रा॒तिः स॑ह॒स्रिणी॑ | स॒द्यो दा॒नाय॒ मंह॑ते ||

yásya vāyór iva dravád bhadrā́ rātíḥ sahasríṇī sadyó dānā́ya máṁhate

Whose excellent gift, like the swift wind, is instantly and thousandfold generous.

Stanza 6.45.33

तत्सु नो॒ विश्वे॑ अ॒र्य आ सदा॑ गृणन्ति का॒रवः॑ | बृ॒बुं स॑हस्र॒दात॑मं सू॒रिं स॑हस्र॒सात॑मम् ||

tát sú no víśve aryá ā́ sádā gr̥ṇanti kārávaḥ br̥búṁ sahasradā́tamaṁ sūríṁ sahasrasā́tamam

All our pious singers praise him, the giver of thousands, the best achiever of thousands.
