ápād itá úd u naś citrátamo mahī́m bharṣad dyumátīm índrahūtim pányasīṁ dhītíṁ daívyasya yā́mañ jánasya rātíṁ vanate sudā́nuḥ

Having drunk, the most wondrous [Indra] has carried away our great and splendid call to him. The bounteous one [Indra] accepts the divine praise and the gifts of the people, as he is invoked.

Stanza 6.38.2

dūrā́c cid ā́ vasato asya kárṇā ghóṣād índrasya tanyati bruvāṇáḥ éyám enaṁ deváhūtir vavr̥tyān madryàg índram iyám r̥cyámānā

Even from afar, his ears listen. With a loud sound, Indra's call is heard. May this invocation of the gods turn Indra towards us; may this hymn, sung with appropriate words, reach him.

Stanza 6.38.3

táṁ vo dhiyā́ paramáyā purājā́m ajáram índram abhy ànūṣy arkaíḥ bráhmā ca gíro dadhiré sám asmin mahā́ṁś ca stómo ádhi vardhad índre

With our best song, we have invoked you, the ancient and undecaying Indra. All prayers and praises are gathered in him; may our great hymn of praise grow strong for Indra.

Stanza 6.38.4

May sacrifice and Soma strengthen Indra; may praises, hymns, and thoughts strengthen him. May the dawn, after the night, strengthen him; may the months, seasons, and days strengthen Indra.

Stanza 6.38.5

evā́ jajñānáṁ sáhase ásāmi vāvr̥dhānáṁ rā́dhase ca śrutā́ya mahā́m ugrám ávase vipra nūnám ā́ vivāsema vr̥tratū́ryeṣu

Thus, born for might, growing in glory, bounty, and fame, we will invite the great, formidable Indra for protection, especially in battles against Vritra.
