Powerful is the exhilaration, the glory, and the hymns, which are with Indra. He, the drinker of pressed Soma, the radiant one, the wealthy one, is the king praised by men with hymns. He is protected and invoked in songs.

The great axle of your chariot wheels, O hero, is not surpassed in greatness by heaven and earth. Your many powers and aids, O Indra, invoked by many, have grown like the branches of a tree.

O drinker of Soma, come with your vast, deep aid. Give us strength. Stand ready to help us, with your aid, in the time of night's transition to dawn.

Come quickly to help us, Indra, and protect us from harm when we are near. Protect us from harm when we are far away. May we, with brave sons, rejoice for a hundred winters.
This verse is a plea for Indra's protection and presence. The speaker asks Indra to come quickly to help and to guard against harm, both in immediate danger and in the general course of life, whether at home or away. The ultimate desire is for a long life filled with brave descendants.
