Stanza 6.24.1

वृषा॒ मद॒ इन्द्रे॒ श्लोक॑ उ॒क्था सचा॒ सोमे॑षु सुत॒पा ऋ॑जी॒षी | अ॒र्च॒त्र्यो॑ म॒घवा॒ नृभ्य॑ उ॒क्थैर्द्यु॒क्षो राजा॑ गि॒रामक्षि॑तोतिः ||

vŕ̥ṣā máda índre ślóka ukthā́ sácā sómeṣu sutapā́ r̥jīṣī́ arcatryò maghávā nŕ̥bhya ukthaír dyukṣó rā́jā girā́m ákṣitotiḥ

Powerful is the exhilaration, the glory, and the hymns, which are with Indra. He, the drinker of pressed Soma, the radiant one, the wealthy one, is the king praised by men with hymns. He is protected and invoked in songs.

Stanza 6.24.2

ततु॑रिर्वी॒रो नर्यो॒ विचे॑ताः॒ श्रोता॒ हवं॑ गृण॒त उ॒र्व्यू॑तिः | वसुः॒ शंसो॑ न॒रां का॒रुधा॑या वा॒जी स्तु॒तो वि॒दथे॑ दाति॒ वाज॑म् ||

táturir vīró náryo vícetāḥ śrótā hávaṁ gr̥ṇatá urvyūā̀tiḥ vásuḥ śáṁso narā́ṁ kārúdhāyā vājī́ stutó vidáthe dāti vā́jam

He, the victorious hero, the wise one, a friend to men, hears the call of those who sing. He is noble, endowed with wealth, a supporter of hymns, and the powerful one who gives abundance in the assembly.

Stanza 6.24.3

अक्षो॒ न च॒क्र्योः॑ शूर बृ॒हन्प्र ते॑ म॒ह्ना रि॑रिचे॒ रोद॑स्योः | वृ॒क्षस्य॒ नु ते॑ पुरुहूत व॒या व्यू॒३॒॑तयो॑ रुरुहुरिन्द्र पू॒र्वीः ||

ákṣo ná cakryòḥ śūra br̥hán prá te mahnā́ ririce ródasyoḥ vr̥kṣásya nú te puruhūta vayā́ vy ūā̀táyo ruruhur indra pūrvī́ḥ

The great axle of your chariot wheels, O hero, is not surpassed in greatness by heaven and earth. Your many powers and aids, O Indra, invoked by many, have grown like the branches of a tree.

Stanza 6.24.4

शची॑वतस्ते पुरुशाक॒ शाका॒ गवा॑मिव स्रु॒तयः॑ सं॒चर॑णीः | व॒त्सानां॒ न त॒न्तय॑स्त इन्द्र॒ दाम॑न्वन्तो अदा॒मानः॑ सुदामन् ||

śácīvatas te puruśāka śā́kā gávām iva srutáyaḥ saṁcáraṇīḥ vatsā́nāṁ ná tantáyas ta indra dā́manvanto adāmā́naḥ sudāman

Your powerful energies, O Indra, rich in might, are like the converging paths of cattle returning home. They are not like the restraining ropes of calves; rather, they are unfettered, O giver of great gifts.

Stanza 6.24.5

अ॒न्यद॒द्य कर्व॑रम॒न्यदु॒ श्वोऽस॑च्च॒ सन्मुहु॑राच॒क्रिरिन्द्रः॑ | मि॒त्रो नो॒ अत्र॒ वरु॑णश्च पू॒षार्यो वश॑स्य पर्ये॒तास्ति॑ ||

anyád adyá kárvaram anyád u śvó 'sac ca sán múhur ācakrír índraḥ mitró no átra váruṇaś ca pūṣā́ryó váśasya paryetā́sti

Today, Indra performs one action, and tomorrow another. He brings into being what was not. Here, Mitra, Varuna, and Pushan are with us to overcome the enemy's power.

Stanza 6.24.6

वि त्वदापो॒ न पर्व॑तस्य पृ॒ष्ठादु॒क्थेभि॑रिन्द्रानयन्त य॒ज्ञैः | तं त्वा॒भिः सु॑ष्टु॒तिभि॑र्वा॒जय॑न्त आ॒जिं न ज॑ग्मुर्गिर्वाहो॒ अश्वाः॑ ||

ví tvád ā́po ná párvatasya pr̥ṣṭhā́d ukthébhir indrānayanta yajñaíḥ táṁ tvābhíḥ suṣṭutíbhir vājáyanta ājíṁ ná jagmur girvāho áśvāḥ

As from the mountain's peak, O Indra, the waters flow, so by hymns and sacrifices they brought you forth. Energized by excellent praise, they came to you like horses rushing into a race.

Stanza 6.24.7

न यं जर॑न्ति श॒रदो॒ न मासा॒ न द्याव॒ इन्द्र॑मवक॒र्शय॑न्ति | वृ॒द्धस्य॑ चिद्वर्धतामस्य त॒नूः स्तोमे॑भिरु॒क्थैश्च॑ श॒स्यमा॑ना ||

ná yáṁ járanti śarádo ná mā́sā ná dyā́va índram avakarśáyanti vr̥ddhásya cid vardhatām asya tanū́ stómebhir ukthaíś ca śasyámānā

Neither autumn seasons nor months nor days cause Indra to age or weaken. May his strength grow ever greater, praised by hymns and songs.

Stanza 6.24.8

न वी॒ळवे॒ नम॑ते॒ न स्थि॒राय॒ न शर्ध॑ते॒ दस्यु॑जूताय स्त॒वान् | अज्रा॒ इन्द्र॑स्य गि॒रय॑श्चिदृ॒ष्वा ग॑म्भी॒रे चि॑द्भवति गा॒धम॑स्मै ||

ná vīḷáve námate ná sthirā́ya ná śárdhate dásyujūtāya stavā́n ájrā índrasya giráyaś cid r̥ṣvā́ gambhīré cid bhavati gādhám asmai

He does not bow to the strong, the steadfast, or the one incited by enemies. O Indra, great mountains are like plains to you; even in the deep, you find solid ground.

Stanza 6.24.9

ग॒म्भी॒रेण॑ न उ॒रुणा॑मत्रि॒न्प्रेषो य॑न्धि सुतपाव॒न्वाजा॑न् | स्था ऊ॒ षु ऊ॒र्ध्व ऊ॒ती अरि॑षण्यन्न॒क्तोर्व्यु॑ष्टौ॒ परि॑तक्म्यायाम् ||

gambhīréṇa na urúṇāmatrin préṣó yandhi sutapāvan vā́jān sthā́ ū ṣú ūrdhvá ūtī́ áriṣaṇyann aktór vyùṣṭau páritakmyāyām

O drinker of Soma, come with your vast, deep aid. Give us strength. Stand ready to help us, with your aid, in the time of night's transition to dawn.

Stanza 6.24.10

सच॑स्व ना॒यमव॑से अ॒भीक॑ इ॒तो वा॒ तमि॑न्द्र पाहि रि॒षः | अ॒मा चै॑न॒मर॑ण्ये पाहि रि॒षो मदे॑म श॒तहि॑माः सु॒वीराः॑ ||

sácasva nāyám ávase abhī́ka itó vā tám indra pāhi riṣáḥ amā́ cainam áraṇye pāhi riṣó mádema śatáhimāḥ suvī́rāḥ

Come quickly to help us, Indra, and protect us from harm when we are near. Protect us from harm when we are far away. May we, with brave sons, rejoice for a hundred winters.
