Our ancient ancestors, the Navagvas and the seven wise ones, praised him while striving for victory. He reached out to us, the swift conqueror on the mountain, with honest speech and great power through their wisdom.

We seek that Indra for his wealth, which brings many heroes and men. O Lord of horses, bring us celestial riches and joy, so we can be happy.

Tell us, Indra, if formerly the singers have obtained your favor. What is your share, O much-invoked and mighty one, who slays the Asuras? What is your bounty, what is your nourishment?

Stanza 6.22.5

We approach the thunderbolt-wielding Indra, who is in his chariot. The singer, with her strong, wise hymn, reaches for him. He, strong and with great skill, reaches for the food and for the mighty one.

Ignite the earthly, heavenly, and atmospheric realms for the people who oppress. Burn them with heat, O strong one, on all sides. Burn the earth and waters for the enemy of devotion.

You rule the heavenly beings, the earthly beings, and the moving world. O Indra, grasp the thunderbolt in your right hand, O undecaying one! Destroy all enchantments.

O Indra, grant us firm prosperity for overcoming enemies, which is vast and unfailing. With it, empower the Dasas and the Aryas, and make the Nahushas mighty.
