Stanza 6.20.1

द्यौर्न य इ॑न्द्रा॒भि भूमा॒र्यस्त॒स्थौ र॒यिः शव॑सा पृ॒त्सु जना॑न् | तं नः॑ स॒हस्र॑भरमुर्वरा॒सां द॒द्धि सू॑नो सहसो वृत्र॒तुर॑म् ||

dyaúr ná yá indrābhí bhū́māryás tasthaú rayíḥ śávasā pr̥tsú jánān táṁ naḥ sahásrabharam urvarāsā́ṁ daddhí sūno sahaso vr̥tratúram

Indra, grant us wealth that surpasses all, like the sky above the earth, which stands with its might in battles over men. Give us, O Son of Strength, wealth that brings thousands and is abundant in harvests, and is victorious over the foe.

Stanza 6.20.2

दि॒वो न तुभ्य॒मन्वि॑न्द्र स॒त्रासु॒र्यं॑ दे॒वेभि॑र्धायि॒ विश्व॑म् | अहिं॒ यद्वृ॒त्रम॒पो व॑व्रि॒वांसं॒ हन्नृ॑जीषि॒न्विष्णु॑ना सचा॒नः ||

divó ná túbhyam ánv indra satrā́suryàṁ devébhir dhāyi víśvam áhiṁ yád vr̥trám apó vavrivā́ṁsaṁ hánn r̥jīṣin víṣṇunā sacānáḥ

O Indra, all the power of the great gods was given to you. You, the impetuous one, along with Vishnu, slew Vritra, the one who enclosed the waters.

Stanza 6.20.3

तूर्व॒न्नोजी॑यान्त॒वस॒स्तवी॑यान्कृ॒तब्र॒ह्मेन्द्रो॑ वृ॒द्धम॑हाः | राजा॑भव॒न्मधु॑नः सो॒म्यस्य॒ विश्वा॑सां॒ यत्पु॒रां द॒र्त्नुमाव॑त् ||

tū́rvann ójīyān tavásas távīyān kr̥tábrahméndro vr̥ddhámahāḥ rā́jābhavan mádhunaḥ somyásya víśvāsāṁ yát purā́ṁ dartnúm ā́vat

The powerful Indra, greater than the great, who has received praises, became king. He, the conqueror of fortresses, is the lord of the sweet Soma juice.

Stanza 6.20.4

श॒तैर॑पद्रन्प॒णय॑ इ॒न्द्रात्र॒ दशो॑णये क॒वये॒ऽर्कसा॑तौ | व॒धैः शुष्ण॑स्या॒शुष॑स्य मा॒याः पि॒त्वो नारि॑रेची॒त्किं च॒न प्र ||

śataír apadran paṇáya indrā́tra dáśoṇaye kaváye 'rkásātau vadhaíḥ śúṣṇasyāśúṣasya māyā́ḥ pitvó nā́rirecīt kíṁ caná prá

Indra, with hundreds of blows, the Paṇis fled from the wise Dasoṇi. Indra destroyed the magical powers of Shuṣṇa, and left them nothing of their food.

Stanza 6.20.5

म॒हो द्रु॒हो अप॑ वि॒श्वायु॑ धायि॒ वज्र॑स्य॒ यत्पत॑ने॒ पादि॒ शुष्णः॑ | उ॒रु ष स॒रथं॒ सार॑थये क॒रिन्द्रः॒ कुत्सा॑य॒ सूर्य॑स्य सा॒तौ ||

mahó druhó ápa viśvā́yu dhāyi vájrasya yát pátane pā́di śúṣṇaḥ urú ṣá saráthaṁ sā́rathaye kar índraḥ kútsāya sū́ryasya sātaú

When the thunderbolt struck, Druh's sustenance was taken away. Indra made room for his chariot and companion Kutsa to reach the sun.

Stanza 6.20.6

प्र श्ये॒नो न म॑दि॒रमं॒शुम॑स्मै॒ शिरो॑ दा॒सस्य॒ नमु॑चेर्मथा॒यन् | प्राव॒न्नमीं॑ सा॒प्यं स॒सन्तं॑ पृ॒णग्रा॒या समि॒षा सं स्व॒स्ति ||

prá śyenó ná madirám aṁśúm asmai śíro dāsásya námucer mathāyán prā́van námīṁ sāpyáṁ sasántam pr̥ṇág rāyā́ sám iṣā́ sáṁ svastí

Like a hawk, Indra tore the delightful Soma stalk, and took the head of the Dasa Namuci. He protected Namî and Sayya's son, filling them with food and prosperity.

Stanza 6.20.7

वि पिप्रो॒रहि॑मायस्य दृ॒ळ्हाः पुरो॑ वज्रि॒ञ्छव॑सा॒ न द॑र्दः | सुदा॑म॒न्तद्रेक्णो॑ अप्रमृ॒ष्यमृ॒जिश्व॑ने दा॒त्रं दा॒शुषे॑ दाः ||

ví pípror áhimāyasya dr̥ḷhā́ḥ púro vajriñ chávasā ná dardaḥ súdāman tád rékṇo apramr̥ṣyám r̥jíśvane dātráṁ dāśúṣe dāḥ

O thunder-armed Indra, you shattered the strong forts of Pipru, who knew deceit. You gave imperishable wealth to your worshipper Rjishvan.

Stanza 6.20.8

स वे॑त॒सुं दश॑मायं॒ दशो॑णिं॒ तूतु॑जि॒मिन्द्रः॑ स्वभि॒ष्टिसु॑म्नः | आ तुग्रं॒ शश्व॒दिभं॒ द्योत॑नाय मा॒तुर्न सी॒मुप॑ सृजा इ॒यध्यै॑ ||

sá vetasúṁ dáśamāyaṁ dáśoṇiṁ tū́tujim índraḥ svabhiṣṭísumnaḥ ā́ túgraṁ śáśvad íbhaṁ dyótanāya mātúr ná sīm úpa sr̥jā iyádhyai

Indra, with his powerful presence, drove back Vetasu, Dasamaaya, and the swift Tugra. He is ready to bring forth the divine essence, as one accompanies a mother.

Stanza 6.20.9

स ईं॒ स्पृधो॑ वनते॒ अप्र॑तीतो॒ बिभ्र॒द्वज्रं॑ वृत्र॒हणं॒ गभ॑स्तौ | तिष्ठ॒द्धरी॒ अध्यस्ते॑व॒ गर्ते॑ वचो॒युजा॑ वहत॒ इन्द्र॑मृ॒ष्वम् ||

sá īṁ spŕ̥dho vanate ápratīto bíbhrad vájraṁ vr̥traháṇaṁ gábhastau tíṣṭhad dhárī ádhy ásteva gárte vacoyújā vahata índram r̥ṣvám

Indra, the resistless warrior, holding the thunderbolt in his hands, mounts his horses. Yoked by a word, they carry the lofty Indra.

Stanza 6.20.10

स॒नेम॒ तेऽव॑सा॒ नव्य॑ इन्द्र॒ प्र पू॒रवः॑ स्तवन्त ए॒ना य॒ज्ञैः | स॒प्त यत्पुरः॒ शर्म॒ शार॑दी॒र्दर्द्धन्दासीः॑ पुरु॒कुत्सा॑य॒ शिक्ष॑न् ||

sanéma té 'vasā návya indra prá pūráva stavanta enā́ yajñaíḥ saptá yát púraḥ śárma śā́radīr dárd dhán dā́sīḥ purukútsāya śíkṣan

Indra, may we gain your new favor through our sacrifices. The Purus praise you with sacrifices, remembering when you destroyed seven autumn forts, defeated the Dasas, and helped Purukutsa.

Stanza 6.20.11

त्वं वृ॒ध इ॑न्द्र पू॒र्व्यो भू॑र्वरिव॒स्यन्नु॒शने॑ का॒व्याय॑ | परा॒ नव॑वास्त्वमनु॒देयं॑ म॒हे पि॒त्रे द॑दाथ॒ स्वं नपा॑तम् ||

tváṁ vr̥dhá indra pūrvyó bhūr varivasyánn uśáne kāvyā́ya párā návavāstvam anudéyam mahé pitré dadātha sváṁ nápātam

O Indra, you were the ancient strengthener for Ushana, son of Kavi. You gave Navavastva as a gift, and restored the grandson to the great father.

Stanza 6.20.12

त्वं धुनि॑रिन्द्र॒ धुनि॑मतीर्ऋ॒णोर॒पः सी॒रा न स्रव॑न्तीः | प्र यत्स॑मु॒द्रमति॑ शूर॒ पर्षि॑ पा॒रया॑ तु॒र्वशं॒ यदुं॑ स्व॒स्ति ||

tváṁ dhúnir indra dhúnimatīr r̥ṇór apáḥ sīrā́ ná srávantīḥ prá yát samudrám áti śūra párṣi pāráyā turváśaṁ yáduṁ svastí

O Indra, you drove away the roaring waters, like rivers. O hero, you carried Turvasha and Yadu safely across the sea.

Stanza 6.20.13

तव॑ ह॒ त्यदि॑न्द्र॒ विश्व॑मा॒जौ स॒स्तो धुनी॒चुमु॑री॒ या ह॒ सिष्व॑प् | दी॒दय॒दित्तुभ्यं॒ सोमे॑भिः सु॒न्वन्द॒भीति॑रि॒ध्मभृ॑तिः प॒क्थ्य१॒॑र्कैः ||

táva ha tyád indra víśvam ājaú sastó dhúnīcúmurī yā́ ha síṣvap dīdáyad ít túbhyaṁ sómebhiḥ sunván dabhī́tir idhmábhr̥tiḥ pakthy àrkaíḥ

Indra, you were victorious in battle. You made Dhuni and Chumuri sleep. Dabhiti, with fuel, hymns, and Soma, worshipped you.
