द्यु॒तद्या॑मानं बृह॒तीमृ॒तेन॑ ऋ॒ताव॑रीमरु॒णप्सुं॑ विभा॒तीम् | दे॒वीमु॒षसं॒ स्व॑रा॒वह॑न्तीं॒ प्रति॒ विप्रा॑सो म॒तिभि॑र्जरन्ते ||
dyutádyāmānam br̥hatī́m r̥téna r̥tā́varīm aruṇápsuṁ vibhātī́m devī́m uṣásaṁ svàr āváhantīm práti víprāso matíbhir jarante
The wise ones, with their thoughts, praise and welcome the divine Dawn, who has a radiant path, is vast and supreme, moves according to cosmic law, is reddish in appearance, shines brightly, and brings the sun's light.
The intelligent sages (viprah) greet and praise the divine Dawn (Devi Ushas) with their inspired thoughts (matibhih). She is described as having a shining path (dyutadyamanam), being vast and great (brihatim), following cosmic order (ritena ritavarim), and appearing with a reddish hue (arunapsum), all while shining brightly (vibhātim) and bringing forth the sun's light (svar avahantim).

eṣā́ jánaṁ darśatā́ bodháyantī sugā́n patháḥ kr̥ṇvatī́ yāty ágre br̥hadrathā́ br̥hatī́ viśvaminvóṣā́ jyótir yachaty ágre áhnām
She comes forward, awakening people and making the paths easy to traverse. This divine Dawn, riding a great chariot, advances, and at the dawn of the day, she bestows light.
This Dawn (esha) appears at the forefront, awakening people (janam bodhayanti) and making the paths easy to travel (sugan pathah krinvati). She proceeds forward (yāti agre), a radiant being (vishvaminva) on a grand chariot (brihadratha brihati), bestowing her light (jyotih yachati) at the very beginning of the day (agre ahnām).

She, harnessing herself with reddish oxen, brings abundant wealth without causing harm. The revered goddess, desired by all, joyfully opens paths to prosperity and shines brightly.
Dawn, harnessing herself with reddish-brown oxen (arunebhih gobhih), brings endless wealth (aprāyu rayim chakre) without harming anyone (asredhanti). She joyfully opens the paths (radanti pathah) to well-being (suvitaya), the revered goddess (devi purustuta) who is desired by all (vishvavara) and shines forth (vi bhāti).

She, with changing hues, shines with a double splendor. Revealing her form from the east, she perfectly follows the path of cosmic order. Like one who knows, she does not miss any direction.
This Dawn (esha), with her changing colors (vyeni), shines with a dual brilliance (dwibraha). Revealing her form from the east (avishkrinvana purastat), she perfectly follows the path of Rta (rta patham anv_eti). Like one who knows, she does not deviate from the directions (na disho minati), guiding all.

This bright Dawn, aware of her limbs, stands tall as if bathed, so we can see her. Driving away darkness and hatred, the daughter of heaven has arrived with her light.
This radiant Dawn (esha shubhra), conscious of her limbs (tanvo vidana), stands tall like one bathed (urdhva iva snati) for us to see (dṛśaye nah asthāt). Driving away darkness (tamansi badhamana) and ill-will (dveṣah apa), the daughter of heaven (divah duhitā) has arrived with her light (jyotiṣa agat).

The daughter of the sky, like a modest woman, turns towards men. This youthful Dawn, revealing desirable things, has brought back the light as before, pouring forth her radiance.
