अश्वि॑ना॒वेह ग॑च्छतं॒ नास॑त्या॒ मा वि वे॑नतम् | हं॒सावि॑व पतत॒मा सु॒ताँ उप॑ ||
áśvināv éhá gachataṁ nā́satyā mā́ ví venatam haṁsā́v iva patatam ā́ sutā́m̐ úpa
O Ashvins, come here! O Nasatyas, do not turn away. Fly hither like two swans towards the offerings.
The seer addresses the divine twins, the Ashvins, as "Nasatyas" and urges them to come to him quickly. He invokes them to fly towards the prepared offering (soma-juice) as swiftly and gracefully as two swans fly to their destination.

The seer continues to address the Ashvins, comparing their swift arrival to that of deer and wild cattle moving towards a pasture. He reiterates the request for them to fly like swans towards the offerings.

O Ashvins, rich in wealth, accept the sacrifice for its accomplishment. Fly hither like two swans towards the offerings.
The seer invokes the Ashvins, calling them "rich in gifts," and asks them to accept the sacrifice made for its success. They are again urged to fly swiftly like swans to the soma offerings.

When Atri, descending into the cave, called out to you in distress like a crying woman, you two Ashvins arrived with the greatest speed and power, like a falcon.
The seer recounts a past event where the sage Atri, while descending into a cave, called out to the Ashvins for help. He compares Atri's call to that of a distressed woman. The Ashvins then arrived with incredible speed and power, likened to a falcon's flight, assisting Atri and the tree.

O tree, open up like the womb of one giving birth. O Ashvins, hear my call and release Saptavadhri.

For the terrified sage Saptavadhri, who was crying, you two Ashvins, with your magical powers, broke apart and shattered the tree.
The seer describes how the Ashvins responded to the distressed sage Saptavadhri, who was afraid and crying. Using their magical powers, the Ashvins broke open and shattered a tree, presumably to free or help Saptavadhri.

Just as the wind stirs a lotus pond from all sides, so may the ten-month-old embryo stir within you and come out.
This verse uses a simile to invoke the safe delivery of a child. It compares the stirring of the wind that ripples a lotus pond to the desired movement of the unborn child within the womb, praying for its safe emergence after ten months.

Continuing the simile for safe childbirth, the seer compares the movement of the wind, the forest, and the sea to the desired descent of the ten-month-old child. The child is asked to come forth along with the afterbirth.

The child who has lain for ten months in the mother, may he come forth alive, unharmed, living from the living mother.
This verse is a prayer for a safe birth. It describes a child (kumara) who has been in the mother's womb for ten months, and prays that this child may come forth alive and unharmed from its living mother.
