Stanza 5.62.1

ऋ॒तेन॑ ऋ॒तमपि॑हितं ध्रु॒वं वां॒ सूर्य॑स्य॒ यत्र॑ विमु॒चन्त्यश्वा॑न् | दश॑ श॒ता स॒ह त॑स्थु॒स्तदेकं॑ दे॒वानां॒ श्रेष्ठं॒ वपु॑षामपश्यम् ||

r̥téna r̥tám ápihitaṁ dhruváṁ vāṁ sū́ryasya yátra vimucánty áśvān dáśa śatā́ sahá tasthus tád ékaṁ devā́nāṁ śréṣṭhaṁ vápuṣām apaśyam

Your unwavering truth is firmly established and concealed, O Mitra and Varuṇa. When the sun's horses are unhitched, ten hundred stand together. In that moment, I saw the most excellent form of the gods.

Stanza 5.62.2

तत्सु वां॑ मित्रावरुणा महि॒त्वमी॒र्मा त॒स्थुषी॒रह॑भिर्दुदुह्रे | विश्वाः॑ पिन्वथः॒ स्वस॑रस्य॒ धेना॒ अनु॑ वा॒मेकः॑ प॒विरा व॑वर्त ||

tát sú vām mitrāvaruṇā mahitvám īrmā́-tasthúṣīr áhabhir duduhre víśvāḥ pinvathaḥ svásarasya dhénā ánu vām ékaḥ pavír ā́ vavarta

This greatness is yours, O Mitra and Varuṇa. They gathered the streams that stood firm with the days. You cause all the nourishment of the cow-pen to flow; one wheel of your chariot has turned here.

Stanza 5.62.3

अधा॑रयतं पृथि॒वीमु॒त द्यां मित्र॑राजाना वरुणा॒ महो॑भिः | व॒र्धय॑त॒मोष॑धीः॒ पिन्व॑तं॒ गा अव॑ वृ॒ष्टिं सृ॑जतं जीरदानू ||

ádhārayatam pr̥thivī́m utá dyā́m mítrarājānā varuṇā máhobhiḥ vardháyatam óṣadhīḥ pínvataṁ gā́ áva vr̥ṣṭíṁ sr̥jataṁ jīradānū

O Mitra and Varuṇa, you two Kings, have by your might firmly established the Earth and the Sky. Nourish the plants, make the cows stream forth, and release the life-giving rain, O givers of life.

Stanza 5.62.4

आ वा॒मश्वा॑सः सु॒युजो॑ वहन्तु य॒तर॑श्मय॒ उप॑ यन्त्व॒र्वाक् | घृ॒तस्य॑ नि॒र्णिगनु॑ वर्तते वा॒मुप॒ सिन्ध॑वः प्र॒दिवि॑ क्षरन्ति ||

ā́ vām áśvāsaḥ suyújo vahantu yatáraśmaya úpa yantv arvā́k ghr̥tásya nirṇíg ánu vartate vām úpa síndhavaḥ pradívi kṣaranti

May your well-harnessed horses carry you here. May they come, drawing the reins tightly. The flowing essence of ghee follows you. Your streams flow from the ancient past.

Stanza 5.62.5

अनु॑ श्रु॒ताम॒मतिं॒ वर्ध॑दु॒र्वीं ब॒र्हिरि॑व॒ यजु॑षा॒ रक्ष॑माणा | नम॑स्वन्ता धृतद॒क्षाधि॒ गर्ते॒ मित्रासा॑थे वरु॒णेळा॑स्व॒न्तः ||

ánu śrutā́m amátiṁ várdhad urvī́m barhír iva yájuṣā rákṣamāṇā námasvantā dhr̥tadakṣā́dhi gárte mítrā́sāthe varuṇéḷāsv antáḥ

O bountiful ones, protect the world's renown and its wide expanse. Guarding the sacred grass with ritual, you sit in your seat amidst the offerings. O Mitra and Varuṇa, by that protection, may we be victorious and triumphant.

Stanza 5.62.6

अक्र॑विहस्ता सु॒कृते॑ पर॒स्पा यं त्रासा॑थे वरु॒णेळा॑स्व॒न्तः | राजा॑ना क्ष॒त्रमहृ॑णीयमाना स॒हस्र॑स्थूणं बिभृथः स॒ह द्वौ ||

ákravihastā sukŕ̥te paraspā́ yáṁ trā́sāthe varuṇéḷāsv antáḥ rā́jānā kṣatrám áhr̥ṇīyamānā sahásrasthūṇam bibhr̥thaḥ sahá dvaú

With hands that shed no blood, you protect the pious. Whom, O Varuṇa, you save amidst the offerings. You two Kings, unwearied, uphold dominion with a thousand pillars.

Stanza 5.62.7

हिर॑ण्यनिर्णि॒गयो॑ अस्य॒ स्थूणा॒ वि भ्रा॑जते दि॒व्य१॒॑श्वाज॑नीव | भ॒द्रे क्षेत्रे॒ निमि॑ता॒ तिल्वि॑ले वा स॒नेम॒ मध्वो॒ अधि॑गर्त्यस्य ||

híraṇyanirṇig áyo asya sthū́ṇā ví bhrājate divy àśvā́janīva bhadré kṣétre nímitā tílvile vā sanéma mádhvo ádhigartyasya

Its golden ornament and iron pillar shines in the sky like a horse-whip. Or it is established in a good field. May we partake of the sweetness in its seat.

Stanza 5.62.8

हिर॑ण्यरूपमु॒षसो॒ व्यु॑ष्टा॒वयः॑स्थूण॒मुदि॑ता॒ सूर्य॑स्य | आ रो॑हथो वरुण मित्र॒ गर्त॒मत॑श्चक्षाथे॒ अदि॑तिं॒ दितिं॑ च ||

híraṇyarūpam uṣáso vyùṣṭāv áyasthūṇam úditā sū́ryasya ā́ rohatho varuṇa mitra gártam átaś cakṣāthe áditiṁ dítiṁ ca

You ascend, O Mitra and Varuṇa, in a golden chariot at dawn, and with iron pillars at sunset. From that place, you see the infinite and the finite.

Stanza 5.62.9

यद्बंहि॑ष्ठं॒ नाति॒विधे॑ सुदानू॒ अच्छि॑द्रं॒ शर्म॑ भुवनस्य गोपा | तेन॑ नो मित्रावरुणावविष्टं॒ सिषा॑सन्तो जिगी॒वांसः॑ स्याम ||

yád báṁhiṣṭhaṁ nā́tivídhe sudānū áchidraṁ śárma bhuvanasya gopā téna no mitrāvaruṇāv aviṣṭaṁ síṣāsanto jigīvā́ṁsaḥ syāma

O bountiful guardians of the world, grant us that strongest, flawless protection which cannot be surpassed. O Mitra and Varuṇa, aid us with that; may we, striving, be victorious.
