Stanza 5.52.1

प्र श्या॑वाश्व धृष्णु॒यार्चा॑ म॒रुद्भि॒र्ऋक्व॑भिः | ये अ॑द्रो॒घम॑नुष्व॒धं श्रवो॒ मद॑न्ति य॒ज्ञियाः॑ ||

prá śyāvāśva dhr̥ṣṇuyā́rcā marúdbhir ŕ̥kvabhiḥ yé adroghám anuṣvadháṁ śrávo mádanti yajñíyāḥ

O Syāvāśva, sing out boldly with the Maruts! They, the worthy ones, rejoice in their guileless glory, according to their nature and divine practice.

Stanza 5.52.2

ते हि स्थि॒रस्य॒ शव॑सः॒ सखा॑यः॒ सन्ति॑ धृष्णु॒या | ते याम॒न्ना धृ॑ष॒द्विन॒स्त्मना॑ पान्ति॒ शश्व॑तः ||

té hí sthirásya śávasaḥ sákhāyaḥ sánti dhr̥ṣṇuyā́ té yā́mann ā́ dhr̥ṣadvínas tmánā pānti śáśvataḥ

Indeed, they are boldly the companions of firm strength. They, the courageous ones, march and protect everyone with their own power.

Stanza 5.52.3

ते स्य॒न्द्रासो॒ नोक्षणोऽति॑ ष्कन्दन्ति॒ शर्व॑रीः | म॒रुता॒मधा॒ महो॑ दि॒वि क्ष॒मा च॑ मन्महे ||

té syandrā́so nókṣáṇó 'ti ṣkandanti śárvarīḥ marútām ádhā máho diví kṣamā́ ca manmahe

Like rushing bulls, they leap over the dark clouds. We perceive the great power of the Maruts in the sky and on the earth.

Stanza 5.52.4

म॒रुत्सु॑ वो दधीमहि॒ स्तोमं॑ य॒ज्ञं च॑ धृष्णु॒या | विश्वे॒ ये मानु॑षा यु॒गा पान्ति॒ मर्त्यं॑ रि॒षः ||

marútsu vo dadhīmahi stómaṁ yajñáṁ ca dhr̥ṣṇuyā́ víśve yé mā́nuṣā yugā́ pā́nti mártyaṁ riṣáḥ

Boldly, let us offer praise and sacrifice to your Maruts, to all of them who protect mankind's generations and guard mortals from harm.

Stanza 5.52.5

अर्ह॑न्तो॒ ये सु॒दान॑वो॒ नरो॒ असा॑मिशवसः | प्र य॒ज्ञं य॒ज्ञिये॑भ्यो दि॒वो अ॑र्चा म॒रुद्भ्यः॑ ||

árhanto yé sudā́navo náro ásāmiśavasaḥ prá yajñáṁ yajñíyebhyo divó arcā marúdbhyaḥ

They are worthy, generous heroes with complete strength. I shall offer the sacrifice to the heavenly Maruts, who are worthy of worship.

Stanza 5.52.6

आ रु॒क्मैरा यु॒धा नर॑ ऋ॒ष्वा ऋ॒ष्टीर॑सृक्षत | अन्वे॑नाँ॒ अह॑ वि॒द्युतो॑ म॒रुतो॒ जज्झ॑तीरिव भा॒नुर॑र्त॒ त्मना॑ दि॒वः ||

ā́ rukmaír ā́ yudhā́ nára r̥ṣvā́ r̥ṣṭī́r asr̥kṣata ánv enām̐ áha vidyúto marúto jájjhatīr iva bhānúr arta tmánā diváḥ

The tall heroes, with bright ornaments and weapons, have cast their spears. Behind them, like laughing lightnings, came their own splendor from the sky.

Stanza 5.52.7

ये वा॑वृ॒धन्त॒ पार्थि॑वा॒ य उ॒राव॒न्तरि॑क्ष॒ आ | वृ॒जने॑ वा न॒दीनां॑ स॒धस्थे॑ वा म॒हो दि॒वः ||

yé vāvr̥dhánta pā́rthivā yá urā́v antárikṣa ā́ vr̥jáne vā nadī́nāṁ sadhásthe vā mahó diváḥ

They who have grown powerful on earth, or in the wide sky, or within the rivers, or in the abode of great heaven.

Stanza 5.52.8

शर्धो॒ मारु॑त॒मुच्छं॑स स॒त्यश॑वस॒मृभ्व॑सम् | उ॒त स्म॒ ते शु॒भे नरः॒ प्र स्प॒न्द्रा यु॑जत॒ त्मना॑ ||

śárdho mā́rutam úc chaṁsa satyáśavasam ŕ̥bhvasam utá sma té śubhé náraḥ prá syandrā́ yujata tmánā

Praise the Maruts' host, endowed with true strength and boldness. And when needed, these courageous heroes harness their power for victory by themselves.

Stanza 5.52.9

उ॒त स्म॒ ते परु॑ष्ण्या॒मूर्णा॑ वसत शु॒न्ध्यवः॑ | उ॒त प॒व्या रथा॑ना॒मद्रिं॑ भिन्द॒न्त्योज॑सा ||

utá sma té páruṣṇyām ū́rṇā vasata śundhyávaḥ utá pavyā́ ráthānām ádrim bhindanty ójasā

Whether they are on the Parushni river, clothed in wool-like forms, or whether by their might they break the mountain with the wheels of their chariots.

Stanza 5.52.10

आप॑थयो॒ विप॑थ॒योऽन्त॑स्पथा॒ अनु॑पथाः | ए॒तेभि॒र्मह्यं॒ नाम॑भिर्य॒ज्ञं वि॑ष्टा॒र ओ॑हते ||

ā́pathayo vípathayó 'ntaspathā ánupathāḥ etébhir máhyaṁ nā́mabhir yajñáṁ viṣṭārá ohate

Whether they are those who come, or go, or enter, or follow paths, by all these names, they watch over my sacrifice.

Stanza 5.52.11

अधा॒ नरो॒ न्यो॑ह॒तेऽधा॑ नि॒युत॑ ओहते | अधा॒ पारा॑वता॒ इति॑ चि॒त्रा रू॒पाणि॒ दर्श्या॑ ||

ádhā náro ny òhaté 'dhā niyúta ohate ádhā pā́rāvatā íti citrā́ rūpā́ṇi dárśyā

The heroes are attentive, and their steeds are attentive. Then, their varied forms are so visible, that people exclaim, 'Look, these are the Pârâvatas!'

Stanza 5.52.12

छ॒न्दः॒स्तुभः॑ कुभ॒न्यव॒ उत्स॒मा की॒रिणो॑ नृतुः | ते मे॒ के चि॒न्न ता॒यव॒ ऊमा॑ आसन्दृ॒शि त्वि॒षे ||

chandastúbhaḥ kubhanyáva útsam ā́ kīríṇo nr̥tuḥ té me ké cin ná tāyáva ū́mā āsan dr̥śí tviṣé

The hymn-singers danced toward the spring. They are not thieves, but helpers, appearing splendidly visible.

Stanza 5.52.13

य ऋ॒ष्वा ऋ॒ष्टिवि॑द्युतः क॒वयः॒ सन्ति॑ वे॒धसः॑ | तमृ॑षे॒ मारु॑तं ग॒णं न॑म॒स्या र॒मया॑ गि॒रा ||

yá r̥ṣvā́ r̥ṣṭívidyutaḥ kaváyaḥ sánti vedhásaḥ tám r̥ṣe mā́rutaṁ gaṇáṁ namasyā́ ramáyā girā́

Worship, O seer, that host of Maruts, they who are wise poets, tall heroes armed with lightning-spears. Delight them with your hymns.

Stanza 5.52.14

अच्छ॑ ऋषे॒ मारु॑तं ग॒णं दा॒ना मि॒त्रं न यो॒षणा॑ | दि॒वो वा॑ धृष्णव॒ ओज॑सा स्तु॒ता धी॒भिरि॑षण्यत ||

ácha r̥ṣe mā́rutaṁ gaṇáṁ dānā́ mitráṁ ná yoṣáṇā divó vā dhr̥ṣṇava ójasā stutā́ dhībhír iṣaṇyata

Approach, O Maruts, bold ones, with gifts, like a maiden calls her friend. Hasten hither from heaven, when praised by our hymns, with your might.

Stanza 5.52.15

नू म॑न्वा॒न ए॑षां दे॒वाँ अच्छा॒ न व॒क्षणा॑ | दा॒ना स॑चेत सू॒रिभि॒र्याम॑श्रुतेभिर॒ञ्जिभिः॑ ||

nū́ manvāná eṣāṁ devā́m̐ áchā ná vakṣáṇā dānā́ saceta sūríbhir yā́maśrutebhir añjíbhiḥ

Having understood them, may he approach their divine presence with an offering, and may he unite with the brilliant ones, who are glorious on their journeys.

Stanza 5.52.16

प्र ये मे॑ बन्ध्वे॒षे गां वोच॑न्त सू॒रयः॒ पृश्निं॑ वोचन्त मा॒तर॑म् | अधा॑ पि॒तर॑मि॒ष्मिणं॑ रु॒द्रं वो॑चन्त॒ शिक्व॑सः ||

prá yé me bandhveṣé gā́ṁ vócanta sūráyaḥ pŕ̥śniṁ vocanta mātáram ádhā pitáram iṣmíṇaṁ rudráṁ vocanta śíkvasaḥ

They, the wise ones, when asked about their kindred, said: 'She is the cow (mother), Prishni is our mother, and the mighty Rudra is our father.'

Stanza 5.52.17

स॒प्त मे॑ स॒प्त शा॒किन॒ एक॑मेका श॒ता द॑दुः | य॒मुना॑या॒मधि॑ श्रु॒तमुद्राधो॒ गव्यं॑ मृजे॒ नि राधो॒ अश्व्यं॑ मृजे ||

saptá me saptá śākína ékam-ekā śatā́ daduḥ yamúnāyām ádhi śrutám úd rā́dho gávyam mr̥je ní rā́dho áśvyam mr̥je

The seven and seven powerful ones gave me each a hundred gifts. By the Yamuna, I have gained renowned wealth in cows and wealth in horses.
