The eloquent ones approached the highest, pure place of the eternal. Like people dressing a child, they purify the auspicious one with offered gifts.
The eloquent priests, associated with the immortal entity (Agni or Soma), have reached a high, pure, and ultimate place, possibly the mother's sacred space. Like living beings dressing a child, they purify and prepare the 'child' (perhaps the divine essence or the ritual fire) with offered gifts and reverence.
