का सु॑ष्टु॒तिः शव॑सः सू॒नुमिन्द्र॑मर्वाची॒नं राध॑स॒ आ व॑वर्तत् | द॒दिर्हि वी॒रो गृ॑ण॒ते वसू॑नि॒ स गोप॑तिर्नि॒ष्षिधां॑ नो जनासः ||
kā́ suṣṭutíḥ śávasaḥ sūnúm índram arvācīnáṁ rā́dhasa ā́ vavartat dadír hí vīró gr̥ṇaté vásūni sá gópatir niṣṣídhāṁ no janāsaḥ
What excellent praise will turn the Son of Strength, Indra, towards us for wealth? For the worshipper, the Hero indeed bestows riches; as Lord of wealth, he grants us gifts, O people.

He is to be invoked in the killing of Vritra, he is worthy of praise, he is well-praised Indra, with true riches. He, the wealthy one, may grant protection in the fray to the mortal who worships with devotion.

The people exert their might in the struggle; fiercely onward rushing. When the tribes encountered one another, some among them behaved like Indra in the thick of battle.
This stanza describes the intensity of battle and the prowess of warriors. The people ('kṣitayaḥ') exert their strength ('kratūyanti') in the midst of the struggle ('yoge'). Warriors ('ugra āśuṣāṇāsaḥ') rush forward fiercely. When groups of warriors ('viśaḥ') clash fiercely ('sam yát avavr̥tranta'), some among them display the power of Indra ('indrayante abhīke'), fighting with great vigor.

When the mighty one perceived the engagement, and the lord looked upon the long battle, the woman called to the strong Indra, urged by Soma-pressers in the dwelling.
This verse describes Indra's perception and response to battle. When Indra ('ŕ̥ghāvā') observes the intense engagement ('samaryam vyacet') or the long conflict ('dīrgham yād ajim abhyakhyat'), he becomes active. The 'aryah' (lord or protector) shouts ('acikradat') for the mighty Indra ('vṛṣaṇam'), who is encouraged by the Soma-pressers ('somasudbhiḥ') in the home ('duroṇe').

He moved with a greater [offer] for the lesser thing; I was not satisfied, returning unpurchased. He did not increase the lesser [offer] for the greater; the humble and the clever ones alike draw forth the flow.

Who buys this Indra of mine for ten cows? When he has slain the Vritras, let the buyer give him back to me.

Now praised, Indra, now glorified, may wealth swell like rivers for the singer. A new hymn is made for you, O Indra of the horses. May we, chariot-riders, always be victorious.
This is a concluding hymn of praise to Indra. The singer declares that Indra is now lauded ('stutaḥ') and glorified ('gr̥ṇānaḥ'), and wishes for prosperity ('iṣam') to flow like rivers for the singer. A new hymn ('brahma navyaṁ') has been created for Indra, the 'Lord of Bays' ('harivaḥ'). The final wish is for the worshippers, who are 'car-borne' ('rathyaḥ'), to be successful ('syāma') and triumphant ('sadāsāḥ') through devotion.
