आ न॒ इन्द्रो॑ दू॒रादा न॑ आ॒साद॑भिष्टि॒कृदव॑से यासदु॒ग्रः | ओजि॑ष्ठेभिर्नृ॒पति॒र्वज्र॑बाहुः सं॒गे स॒मत्सु॑ तु॒र्वणिः॑ पृत॒न्यून् ||
ā́ na índro dūrā́d ā́ na āsā́d abhiṣṭikŕ̥d ávase yāsad ugráḥ ójiṣṭhebhir nr̥pátir vájrabāhuḥ saṁgé samátsu turváṇiḥ pr̥tanyū́n
May mighty Indra, the protector and lord of men, come to us from afar or near with his strongest might. May he, the thunderbolt-wielding one, arrive for our support, conquering enemies in assemblies and battles.
This stanza is an invocation to Indra, the king of gods, to come to the aid of the supplicants. They call upon him to approach from near or far, offering protection and strength. May Indra come to us with his tawny horses, turning towards us for favor and riches. May the thunderbolt-wielding, opulent Indra, with his wide fame, stand by our sacrifice, in the struggle for sustenance.
The worshippers ask Indra to arrive quickly with his swift horses, bringing favor and riches. They invoke him, the thunderbolt-wielder and wealthy patron, to be present at their sacrifice and to help them in their contests. The stanza emphasizes Indra's readiness to assist and his abundance.

By what great might is he known as the strongest, by which he stirs up battles? The most skillful protector from distress, he gives wealth to the singer.
The hymn questions the source of Indra's supreme power and might, by which he creates turmoil and overcomes obstacles. It asks by what strength he best soothes the anxieties of the devotee. The verse concludes by stating that with this power, Indra bestows wealth upon the singer.

Do not harm us, O Indra! Bring and give us gifts. You have much to give to the offerer. We will declare your greatness with our praise and hymns for these new gifts you bestow.
The worshippers implore Indra not to harm them but to bring and bestow gifts. They state that he has ample gifts to give to the devoted offerer. They promise to praise him and declare his greatness when he brings new gifts and accepts their Soma offering and hymns.

The worshippers declare that Indra is now praised and glorified. They ask that strength, like rivers, may flow to the singer. A new hymn is offered to Indra, the 'Lord of Bays.' They wish to be like chariot-riders, constantly victorious through their devotion and song.
