The host came forth wonderfully at first, in the home of Rita, in the nest of the bull, desired, young, of marvelous appearance, and brilliant. Seven dear ones were born for the strong one.
The hymn describes the emergence of a powerful force ('śárdhaḥ') that first appeared wonderfully in the cosmic order's home, within the 'bull's lair'. It is characterized as desired, young, beautiful, and radiant, with seven dear companions born for it.

Here our human fathers have sat down, aspiring after Rita. Invoking the dawns, they have driven out the milch-cows which dwelt in the rock-stable, in the prison.
The ancestors of humanity are described as residing here, aspiring towards cosmic order and driving forth the dawn's radiant beings. These beings, likened to well-nourished cows, were released from their rock-bound enclosures, urged by calls.

The hymn describes beings who rent a mountain and purified themselves. Others recounted their deeds, singing praises and worshipping with hymns after finding the light. They prepared to free the cattle.

Longing for the cows in their mind, those men, the Usigs, have opened with godly words the fast-holding, closed rock, which enclosed and encompassed the cows, the firm stable full of cows.
With minds focused on obtaining the cows, wise individuals used divine words to open the mountain's stronghold. They released the cattle from the firm, cow-filled enclosure.

Awakened, they perceived the treasure granted by the heavens. All the gods reside in their respective abodes. The hymn concludes with a plea to Mitra and Varuna, asking for their prayer to be effective and true.

I will address flaming Agni, the Hotri, the supporter of everything, the best sacrificer. He has perforated, as it were, the pure udder of the cows, (and has made flow the milk) purified like the poured sap of the Soma shoots.
The speaker calls upon Agni, the brilliant Invoker and best worshipper, who supports all. Agni is described as revealing the pure essence of cows' milk, akin to the purified juice of Soma, obtained by piercing the udder.

Agni is described as the limitless freedom for the divine, and the guest of all humanity. He is the one who secures divine protection. The hymn concludes with a wish for Agni, known as Jātavedas (knower of all beings), to be merciful.
