इळा॑मग्ने पुरु॒दंसं॑ स॒निं गोः श॑श्वत्त॒मं हव॑मानाय साध | स्यान्नः॑ सू॒नुस्तन॑यो वि॒जावाग्ने॒ सा ते॑ सुम॒तिर्भू॑त्व॒स्मे ||
íḷām agne purudáṁsaṁ saníṁ góḥ śaśvattamáṁ hávamānāya sādha syā́n naḥ sūnús tánayo vijā́vā́gne sā́ te sumatír bhūtv asmé
O Agni, grant sustenance, wealth in cattle, and many wonders to me, your caller. May we have a son and descendant, O Agni; may your good favor be upon us.
This verse is a prayer to Agni, asking him to bestow 'Ila' (sustenance, wisdom) and wealth, especially in cattle. Agni is invoked as someone who performs many deeds and is always present for the one who calls him. The prayer concludes with a wish for a son and offspring, asking Agni's favorable disposition towards them.
