Hey Agni, please take this offering of ours to the immortals! And please, accept these gifts we're sending. As the main priest, sit with us first and enjoy these drops of fat and ghee.
This stanza is a heartfelt prayer to the god Agni, the divine messenger. The speaker is asking Agni to carry their offering, described as "this sacrifice" and "these oblations," to the realms of the immortals. They are also requesting Agni to be pleased with these offerings and to partake in them, specifically mentioning "drops of fat and ghee," before anyone else. It's like asking the postman to deliver an important package and to enjoy a little treat before starting his rounds.

O Agni, purifier, for you these drops of fat and ghee are flowing! You who follow your own divine order, grant us the best reward for this divine feast.
This verse continues the address to Agni, describing the offerings. The "drops of fat" mixed with ghee are seen as flowing towards Agni. The speaker praises Agni as "O purifier" and notes that he follows his own divine laws ("svadharman"). The main request is for Agni to grant them the "best boon" for the feast, which is meant for the gods. It's like saying, "Your special sauce is dripping down, Agni! You're the one who keeps things pure. Grant us the best gift for this divine dinner party."

O Agni, these drops dripping with ghee are for you, the wise priest. You are kindled as the greatest seer. Please be the protector of our sacrifice.
Here, the speaker directly addresses Agni, acknowledging that the ghee-dripping "drops" belong to him, the "priest" and "sage" (vipra). Agni is described as being "kindled" as the "best Rishi" (seer). The stanza concludes with a plea for Agni to be a "furtherer" or protector of their sacrifice. It's like saying, "These delicious drops are yours, Agni, our wise guide. You're the ultimate seer, shining bright. Please help our ritual succeed!"

This verse continues to describe the offerings flowing to Agni. Agni is addressed with multiple epithets: "O liberal one" (adhrigo), "O powerful one" (śacīvaḥ), and "O wise one" (medhira). The "drops of fat and ghee" are said to be dripping for him. Agni is praised for arriving "with great light" and being "praised by poets/sages" (kaviśasta). The core request is for Agni to "accept these offerings." It's like saying, "Wow, Agni, you're so generous and powerful! Look, the yummy drops are flowing for you. You've arrived with such brightness, celebrated by everyone. Please enjoy our gifts!"

We offer you the richest fat, extracted from the best part. Look, the drops are dripping onto your skin, O Vasu! Please distribute them to each of the gods.
This final stanza focuses on the richness of the offering. The speaker states that the "richest fatness" has been extracted "from the midst" and is being "offered" to Agni. They declare, "We give it to you." The drops are observed to be "dripping down upon your skin." Agni is addressed as "Vasu" (possessor of riches, a name for Agni). The concluding command is for Agni to distribute these "drops" to each of the gods. It's like saying, "We've got the best, richest fat for you, Agni! We're giving it all to you. Look, it's dripping right onto you! Now, Vasu, please make sure to share this goodness with all the other gods."
