Look, the divine Savitar, the energizer, has risen to perform his essential task. He, the priest, never neglects this most important duty. Indeed, he distributes wonderful treasures to the gods. And then, in a way that brings well-being, he shares the offering with those who invite him.
This hymn introduces Savitar, the divine awakener, as the diligent priest who consistently upholds his duties. He generously distributes treasures to the gods and blesses those who invite them to partake in offerings, symbolizing his role in initiating and energizing actions.

The god Savitar, with his broad hands, spreads his arms wide to make himself known to everyone. Indeed, even the waters bow to his order. This very wind also finds its place and rests within his grand design.

Even if something is moving fast with swift horses, he can make it unyoke. Even a fast chariot he can stop. He holds back even those things that glide rapidly like snakes. Night also comes following the path of Savitar.
Savitar demonstrates his supreme power by being able to halt even fast-moving chariots and swift steeds, or to unyoke them at will. He also controls the rapid, serpent-like movements of other forces, ensuring everything acts according to his cosmic law, even as night follows his course.

He spreads through many homes and all life. The brilliant light of Agni, the household deity, shines forth. The mother gave the best portion to her son. And inspired by Savitar, the desired light came forth.

The verse also speaks of a mother giving the best portion to her son, and Savitar initiating or speeding things forward, symbolizing provision and timely action.

He turns back, spread out, eager to win. He is at home, the desire of all moving things. Everyone has come, leaving behind what is wrong. They follow the command of the divine Savitar.
Savitar returns, active and ready to conquer. He is present everywhere, the object of desire for all moving beings. As individuals leave behind their misdeeds, they follow the divine commands of Savitar, the god.

Savitar's divine ordinance ensures that creatures find their due sustenance, whether it's the watery share sought by wild animals in arid lands or the bounty of the forests. These natural provisions are granted by Savitar, and no one can alter or disregard his established laws.

As the sun sets, Varuṇa seeks his watery home, not resting, but constantly moving. Just as each animal finds its shelter, and each bird its nest, Savitar, the god, has set each being in its proper place and time.
The hymn describes how Varuṇa seeks his watery home at dusk, a time of transition. Similarly, every creature, like the sun (Mārtāṇḍa, a form of the sun god) and animals, returns to its designated place or dwelling. Savitar, the god, is credited with establishing these natural cycles and assigning each being its proper place and time.

अ॒स्मभ्यं॒ तद्दि॒वो अ॒द्भ्यः पृ॑थि॒व्यास्त्वया॑ द॒त्तं काम्यं॒ राध॒ आ गा॑त् | शं यत्स्तो॒तृभ्य॑ आ॒पये॒ भवा॑त्युरु॒शंसा॑य सवितर्जरि॒त्रे ||
asmábhyaṁ tád divó adbhyáḥ pr̥thivyā́s tváyā dattáṁ kā́myaṁ rā́dha ā́ gāt śáṁ yát stotŕ̥bhya āpáye bhávāty uruśáṁsāya savitar jaritré
So, may that desirable gift, given by you from heaven, from earth, and from the waters, come to us. May it bring peace to our friends and to those who praise you, O Savitar, the god who is greatly praised.
The hymn concludes with a prayer for Savitar's blessings, asking that the desired gifts, bestowed by him from heaven, earth, and water, may come to the worshippers. This prosperity should lead to well-being for the singers and those who praise Savitar, ensuring happiness for all who follow his path.
