Stanza 2.15.1

प्र घा॒ न्व॑स्य मह॒तो म॒हानि॑ स॒त्या स॒त्यस्य॒ कर॑णानि वोचम् | त्रिक॑द्रुकेष्वपिबत्सु॒तस्या॒स्य मदे॒ अहि॒मिन्द्रो॑ जघान ||

prá ghā nv àsya maható mahā́ni satyā́ satyásya káraṇāni vocam tríkadrukeṣv apibat sutásyāsyá máde áhim índro jaghāna

Now, let me tell you about the grand and true accomplishments of the truly great Indra. While drinking the Soma juice in the Trikadruka region, in its ecstatic state, Indra killed the serpent 'Ahi'.

Stanza 2.15.2

अ॒वं॒शे द्याम॑स्तभायद्बृ॒हन्त॒मा रोद॑सी अपृणद॒न्तरि॑क्षम् | स धा॑रयत्पृथि॒वीं प॒प्रथ॑च्च॒ सोम॑स्य॒ ता मद॒ इन्द्र॑श्चकार ||

avaṁśé dyā́m astabhāyad br̥hántam ā́ ródasī apr̥ṇad antárikṣam sá dhārayat pr̥thivī́m papráthac ca sómasya tā́ máda índraś cakāra

He supported the sky without any visible means, filled the vast space between the two worlds (heaven and earth) and the atmosphere. He sustained the earth and made it spread out. Indra accomplished all these things in his Soma-induced exhilaration.

Stanza 2.15.3

सद्मे॑व॒ प्राचो॒ वि मि॑माय॒ मानै॒र्वज्रे॑ण॒ खान्य॑तृणन्न॒दीना॑म् | वृथा॑सृजत्प॒थिभि॑र्दीर्घया॒थैः सोम॑स्य॒ ता मद॒ इन्द्र॑श्चकार ||

sádmeva prā́co ví mimāya mā́nair vájreṇa khā́ny atr̥ṇan nadī́nām vŕ̥thāsr̥jat pathíbhir dīrghayāthaíḥ sómasya tā́ máda índraś cakāra

He measured out the directions like a dwelling, and with his thunderbolt pierced the sources of the rivers. He released them to flow freely along broad pathways. Indra accomplished all these things in his Soma-induced exhilaration.

Stanza 2.15.4

स प्र॑वो॒ळ्हॄन्प॑रि॒गत्या॑ द॒भीते॒र्विश्व॑मधा॒गायु॑धमि॒द्धे अ॒ग्नौ | सं गोभि॒रश्वै॑रसृज॒द्रथे॑भिः॒ सोम॑स्य॒ ता मद॒ इन्द्र॑श्चकार ||

sá pravoḷhr̥ŕ̥n parigátyā dabhī́ter víśvam adhāg ā́yudham iddhé agnaú sáṁ góbhir áśvair asr̥jad ráthebhiḥ sómasya tā́ máda índraś cakāra

After surrounding those who had captured Dabhiti, he burned all their weapons in the blazing fire. He then released (Dabhiti's possessions) along with cows, horses, and chariots. Indra accomplished all these things in his Soma-induced exhilaration.

Stanza 2.15.5

स ईं॑ म॒हीं धुनि॒मेतो॑ररम्णा॒त्सो अ॑स्ना॒तॄन॑पारयत्स्व॒स्ति | त उ॒त्स्नाय॑ र॒यिम॒भि प्र त॑स्थुः॒ सोम॑स्य॒ ता मद॒ इन्द्र॑श्चकार ||

sá īm mahī́ṁ dhúnim étor aramṇāt só asnātr̥ŕ̥n apārayat svastí tá utsnā́ya rayím abhí prá tasthuḥ sómasya tā́ máda índraś cakāra

He stopped the great, roaring river from flowing away and helped those who couldn't swim to cross safely. Having crossed the stream, they attained wealth. Indra accomplished all these things in his Soma-induced exhilaration.

Stanza 2.15.6

सोद॑ञ्चं॒ सिन्धु॑मरिणान्महि॒त्वा वज्रे॒णान॑ उ॒षसः॒ सं पि॑पेष | अ॒ज॒वसो॑ ज॒विनी॑भिर्विवृ॒श्चन्त्सोम॑स्य॒ ता मद॒ इन्द्र॑श्चकार ||

sódañcaṁ síndhum ariṇān mahitvā́ vájreṇā́na uṣásaḥ sám pipeṣa ajaváso javínībhir vivr̥ścán sómasya tā́ máda índraś cakāra

He made the upward-flowing river run, and with his thunderbolt he crushed the chariot of Ushas (dawn). He tore apart her slow horses with his swift ones. Indra accomplished all these things in his Soma-induced exhilaration.

Stanza 2.15.7

स वि॒द्वाँ अ॑पगो॒हं क॒नीना॑मा॒विर्भव॒न्नुद॑तिष्ठत्परा॒वृक् | प्रति॑ श्रो॒णः स्था॒द्व्य१॒॑नग॑चष्ट॒ सोम॑स्य॒ ता मद॒ इन्द्र॑श्चकार ||

sá vidvā́m̐ apagoháṁ kanī́nām āvír bhávann úd atiṣṭhat parāvŕ̥k práti śroṇá sthād vy ànág acaṣṭa sómasya tā́ máda índraś cakāra

Knowing the hidden place of the maidens, he appeared openly and stood up. The lame stood erect, the blind saw. Indra accomplished all these things in his Soma-induced exhilaration.

Stanza 2.15.8

भि॒नद्व॒लमङ्गि॑रोभिर्गृणा॒नो वि पर्व॑तस्य दृंहि॒तान्यै॑रत् | रि॒णग्रोधां॑सि कृ॒त्रिमा॑ण्येषां॒ सोम॑स्य॒ ता मद॒ इन्द्र॑श्चकार ||

bhinád valám áṅgirobhir gr̥ṇānó ví párvatasya dr̥ṁhitā́ny airat riṇág ródhāṁsi kr̥trímāṇy eṣāṁ sómasya tā́ máda índraś cakāra

Praised by the Angirasas, he shattered Vala and burst through the strongholds of the mountain. He tore away their skillfully made defenses. Indra accomplished all these things in his Soma-induced exhilaration.

Stanza 2.15.9

स्वप्ने॑ना॒भ्युप्या॒ चुमु॑रिं॒ धुनिं॑ च ज॒घन्थ॒ दस्युं॒ प्र द॒भीति॑मावः | र॒म्भी चि॒दत्र॑ विविदे॒ हिर॑ण्यं॒ सोम॑स्य॒ ता मद॒ इन्द्र॑श्चकार ||

svápnenābhyúpyā cúmuriṁ dhúniṁ ca jaghántha dásyum prá dabhī́tim āvaḥ rambhī́ cid átra vivide híraṇyaṁ sómasya tā́ máda índraś cakāra

You killed Chumuri and Dhuni, who were overcome by sleep, and the Dasyu (enemy), and protected Dabhiti. Even the staff-bearer found treasure here. Indra accomplished all these things in his Soma-induced exhilaration.

Stanza 2.15.10

नू॒नं सा ते॒ प्रति॒ वरं॑ जरि॒त्रे दु॑ही॒यदि॑न्द्र॒ दक्षि॑णा म॒घोनी॑ | शिक्षा॑ स्तो॒तृभ्यो॒ माति॑ ध॒ग्भगो॑ नो बृ॒हद्व॑देम वि॒दथे॑ सु॒वीराः॑ ||

nūnáṁ sā́ te práti váraṁ jaritré duhīyád indra dákṣiṇā maghónī śíkṣā stotŕ̥bhyo mā́ti dhag bhágo no br̥hád vadema vidáthe suvī́rāḥ

Now, may that rich (favor/cow) of yours yield for the singer. Indra, may the right-hand (auspicious) gift be given. May we not be deceived; may we speak grandly with good heroes in the assembly.
