Stanza 2.11.1

श्रु॒धी हव॑मिन्द्र॒ मा रि॑षण्यः॒ स्याम॑ ते दा॒वने॒ वसू॑नाम् | इ॒मा हि त्वामूर्जो॑ व॒र्धय॑न्ति वसू॒यवः॒ सिन्ध॑वो॒ न क्षर॑न्तः ||

śrudhī́ hávam indra mā́ riṣaṇyaḥ syā́ma te dāváne vásūnām imā́ hí tvā́m ū́rjo vardháyanti vasūyávaḥ síndhavo ná kṣárantaḥ

Listen, Indra, to my call! Don't ignore me. We want to belong to you so you can give us wealth. These offerings we bring, seeking riches, will make you stronger, just like rivers flowing.

Stanza 2.11.2

सृ॒जो म॒हीरि॑न्द्र॒ या अपि॑न्वः॒ परि॑ष्ठिता॒ अहि॑ना शूर पू॒र्वीः | अम॑र्त्यं चिद्दा॒सं मन्य॑मान॒मवा॑भिनदु॒क्थैर्वा॑वृधा॒नः ||

sr̥jó mahī́r indra yā́ ápinvaḥ páriṣṭhitā áhinā śūra pūrvī́ḥ ámartyaṁ cid dāsám mányamānam ávābhinad ukthaír vāvr̥dhānáḥ

You released the great waters, Indra, that were held by the serpent! Hero, strengthened by hymns, you destroyed that demon who thought himself deathless.

Stanza 2.11.3

उ॒क्थेष्विन्नु शू॑र॒ येषु॑ चा॒कन्त्स्तोमे॑ष्विन्द्र रु॒द्रिये॑षु च | तुभ्येदे॒ता यासु॑ मन्दसा॒नः प्र वा॒यवे॑ सिस्रते॒ न शु॒भ्राः ||

ukthéṣv ín nú śūra yéṣu cākán stómeṣv indra rudríyeṣu ca túbhyéd etā́ yā́su mandasānáḥ prá vāyáve sisrate ná śubhrā́ḥ

Indeed, hero, in those praises and hymns of yours, Indra, that you enjoy, these streams of devotion approach you, just like brilliant streams approach Vayu. You are drawn to our songs!

Stanza 2.11.4

शु॒भ्रं नु ते॒ शुष्मं॑ व॒र्धय॑न्तः शु॒भ्रं वज्रं॑ बा॒ह्वोर्दधा॑नाः | शु॒भ्रस्त्वमि॑न्द्र वावृधा॒नो अ॒स्मे दासी॒र्विशः॒ सूर्ये॑ण सह्याः ||

śubhráṁ nú te śúṣmaṁ vardháyantaḥ śubhráṁ vájram bāhvór dádhānāḥ śubhrás tvám indra vāvr̥dhānó asmé dā́sīr víśaḥ sū́ryeṇa sahyāḥ

We enhance your bright strength, Indra, placing the bright thunderbolt in your arms! May you, radiant Indra, with the sun, help us overcome the Dasa people.

Stanza 2.11.5

गुहा॑ हि॒तं गुह्यं॑ गू॒ळ्हम॒प्स्वपी॑वृतं मा॒यिनं॑ क्षि॒यन्त॑म् | उ॒तो अ॒पो द्यां त॑स्त॒भ्वांस॒मह॒न्नहिं॑ शूर वी॒र्ये॑ण ||

gúhā hitáṁ gúhyaṁ gūḷhám apsv ápīvr̥tam māyínaṁ kṣiyántam utó apó dyā́ṁ tastabhvā́ṁsam áhann áhiṁ śūra vīryèṇa

Hero, you killed the serpent Ahi, hidden in the depths, the great enchanter who was within the waters! He who had blocked the sky and the waters. You did this with your might!

Stanza 2.11.6

स्तवा॒ नु त॑ इन्द्र पू॒र्व्या म॒हान्यु॒त स्त॑वाम॒ नूत॑ना कृ॒तानि॑ | स्तवा॒ वज्रं॑ बा॒ह्वोरु॒शन्तं॒ स्तवा॒ हरी॒ सूर्य॑स्य के॒तू ||

stávā nú ta indra pūrvyā́ mahā́ny utá stavāma nū́tanā kr̥tā́ni stávā vájram bāhvór uśántaṁ stávā hárī sū́ryasya ketū́

We praise your great deeds from the past, Indra, and we praise your new accomplishments! We praise the thunderbolt in your arms, and your two horses, the heralds of the sun.

Stanza 2.11.7

हरी॒ नु त॑ इन्द्र वा॒जय॑न्ता घृत॒श्चुतं॑ स्वा॒रम॑स्वार्ष्टाम् | वि स॑म॒ना भूमि॑रप्रथि॒ष्टारं॑स्त॒ पर्व॑तश्चित्सरि॒ष्यन् ||

hárī nú ta indra vājáyantā ghr̥taścútaṁ svārám asvārṣṭām ví samanā́ bhū́mir aprathiṣṭā́raṁsta párvataś cit sariṣyán

Your horses are powerful and loud, Indra! The earth has spread out completely. Even the cloud that was ready to move has settled down.

Stanza 2.11.8

नि पर्व॑तः सा॒द्यप्र॑युच्छ॒न्त्सं मा॒तृभि॑र्वावशा॒नो अ॑क्रान् | दू॒रे पा॒रे वाणीं॑ व॒र्धय॑न्त॒ इन्द्रे॑षितां ध॒मनिं॑ पप्रथ॒न्नि ||

ní párvataḥ sādy áprayuchan sám mātŕ̥bhir vāvaśānó akrān dūré pāré vā́ṇīṁ vardháyanta índreṣitāṁ dhamánim paprathan ní

The cloud descended, never ceasing, roaring with the storm-winds. Its voice spread far and wide. Indra, it has settled down, this cloud, this blast sent by you!

Stanza 2.11.9

इन्द्रो॑ म॒हां सिन्धु॑मा॒शया॑नं माया॒विनं॑ वृ॒त्रम॑स्फुर॒न्निः | अरे॑जेतां॒ रोद॑सी भिया॒ने कनि॑क्रदतो॒ वृष्णो॑ अस्य॒ वज्रा॑त् ||

índro mahā́ṁ síndhum āśáyānam māyāvínaṁ vr̥trám asphuran níḥ árejetāṁ ródasī bhiyāné kánikradato vŕ̥ṣṇo asya vájrāt

Indra struck down the great serpent Vritra who was lying by the river! Heaven and earth trembled in fear from the roaring of the mighty Indra's thunderbolt.

Stanza 2.11.10

अरो॑रवी॒द्वृष्णो॑ अस्य॒ वज्रोऽमा॑नुषं॒ यन्मानु॑षो नि॒जूर्वा॑त् | नि मा॒यिनो॑ दान॒वस्य॑ मा॒या अपा॑दयत्पपि॒वान्त्सु॒तस्य॑ ||

ároravīd vŕ̥ṣṇo asya vájró 'mānuṣaṁ yán mā́nuṣo nijū́rvāt ní māyíno dānavásya māyā́ ápādayat papivā́n sutásya

The mighty thunderbolt roared! The non-human foe was destroyed. Indra, having drunk the Soma, defeated the magician's tricks.

Stanza 2.11.11

पिबा॑पि॒बेदि॑न्द्र शूर॒ सोमं॒ मन्द॑न्तु त्वा म॒न्दिनः॑ सु॒तासः॑ | पृ॒णन्त॑स्ते कु॒क्षी व॑र्धयन्त्वि॒त्था सु॒तः पौ॒र इन्द्र॑माव ||

píbā-pibéd indra śūra sómam mándantu tvā mandínaḥ sutā́saḥ pr̥ṇántas te kukṣī́ vardhayantv itthā́ sutáḥ paurá índram āva

Drink, drink the Soma, Indra! May the joyful juices make you happy! May they fill your sides and increase your strength! The refreshing Soma has helped Indra.

Stanza 2.11.12

त्वे इ॒न्द्राप्य॑भूम॒ विप्रा॒ धियं॑ वनेम ऋत॒या सप॑न्तः | अ॒व॒स्यवो॑ धीमहि॒ प्रश॑स्तिं स॒द्यस्ते॑ रा॒यो दा॒वने॑ स्याम ||

tvé indrā́py abhūma víprā dhíyaṁ vanema r̥tayā́ sápantaḥ avasyávo dhīmahi práśastiṁ sadyás te rāyó dāváne syāma

We have become your singers, Indra! May we serve you properly and with devotion. Seeking your help, we meditate on your praises. May we immediately receive your gift of riches.

Stanza 2.11.13

स्याम॒ ते त॑ इन्द्र॒ ये त॑ ऊ॒ती अ॑व॒स्यव॒ ऊर्जं॑ व॒र्धय॑न्तः | शु॒ष्मिन्त॑मं॒ यं चा॒कना॑म देवा॒स्मे र॒यिं रा॑सि वी॒रव॑न्तम् ||

syā́ma té ta indra yé ta ūtī́ avasyáva ū́rjaṁ vardháyantaḥ śuṣmíntamaṁ yáṁ cākánāma devāsmé rayíṁ rāsi vīrávantam

May we be yours, Indra, by your help, growing stronger with your support! God, grant us the most powerful riches, along with heroic children.

Stanza 2.11.14

रासि॒ क्षयं॒ रासि॑ मि॒त्रम॒स्मे रासि॒ शर्ध॑ इन्द्र॒ मारु॑तं नः | स॒जोष॑सो॒ ये च॑ मन्दसा॒नाः प्र वा॒यवः॑ पा॒न्त्यग्र॑णीतिम् ||

rā́si kṣáyaṁ rā́si mitrám asmé rā́si śárdha indra mā́rutaṁ naḥ sajóṣaso yé ca mandasānā́ḥ prá vāyávaḥ pānty ágraṇītim

Grant us a home, Indra, grant us a friend! Grant us the company of the Maruts, those who rejoice and drink the Soma.

Stanza 2.11.15

व्यन्त्विन्नु येषु॑ मन्दसा॒नस्तृ॒पत्सोमं॑ पाहि द्र॒ह्यदि॑न्द्र | अ॒स्मान्त्सु पृ॒त्स्वा त॑रु॒त्राव॑र्धयो॒ द्यां बृ॒हद्भि॑र॒र्कैः ||

vyántv ín nú yéṣu mandasānás tr̥pát sómam pāhi drahyád indra asmā́n sú pŕ̥tsv ā́ tarutrā́vardhayo dyā́m br̥hádbhir arkaíḥ

May those who rejoice with you be happy! Drink the Soma, Indra! You have uplifted us in battles with your great praises and hymns. Drink for your strength!

Stanza 2.11.16

बृ॒हन्त॒ इन्नु ये ते॑ तरुत्रो॒क्थेभि॑र्वा सु॒म्नमा॒विवा॑सान् | स्तृ॒णा॒नासो॑ ब॒र्हिः प॒स्त्या॑व॒त्त्वोता॒ इदि॑न्द्र॒ वाज॑मग्मन् ||

br̥hánta ín nú yé te tarutrokthébhir vā sumnám āvívāsān str̥ṇānā́so barhíḥ pastyāā̀vat tvótā íd indra vā́jam agman

Great indeed are those who, Protector, have won your favor with hymns! They spread the sacred grass for your dwelling. Helped by you, Indra, they have gained strength.

Stanza 2.11.17

उ॒ग्रेष्विन्नु शू॑र मन्दसा॒नस्त्रिक॑द्रुकेषु पाहि॒ सोम॑मिन्द्र | प्र॒दोधु॑व॒च्छ्मश्रु॑षु प्रीणा॒नो या॒हि हरि॑भ्यां सु॒तस्य॑ पी॒तिम् ||

ugréṣv ín nú śūra mandasānás tríkadrukeṣu pāhi sómam indra pradódhuvac chmáśruṣu prīṇānó yāhí háribhyāṁ sutásya pītím

Rejoicing hero, Indra, drink the Soma on the great Trikadruka days! Come with your horses to drink the offered juice, with drops shaking from your beard!

Stanza 2.11.18

धि॒ष्वा शवः॑ शूर॒ येन॑ वृ॒त्रम॒वाभि॑न॒द्दानु॑मौर्णवा॒भम् | अपा॑वृणो॒र्ज्योति॒रार्या॑य॒ नि स॑व्य॒तः सा॑दि॒ दस्यु॑रिन्द्र ||

dhiṣvā́ śávaḥ śūra yéna vr̥trám avā́bhinad dā́num aurṇavābhám ápāvr̥ṇor jyótir ā́ryāya ní savyatáḥ sādi dásyur indra

Adopt your great strength, Hero, the strength with which you destroyed Vritra and the magician Aurnavabha! You revealed the light for the Aryans. The Dasyu fell to your left, Indra!

Stanza 2.11.19

सने॑म॒ ये त॑ ऊ॒तिभि॒स्तर॑न्तो॒ विश्वाः॒ स्पृध॒ आर्ये॑ण॒ दस्यू॑न् | अ॒स्मभ्यं॒ तत्त्वा॒ष्ट्रं वि॒श्वरू॑प॒मर॑न्धयः सा॒ख्यस्य॑ त्रि॒ताय॑ ||

sánema yé ta ūtíbhis táranto víśvā spŕ̥dha ā́ryeṇa dásyūn asmábhyaṁ tát tvāṣṭráṁ viśvárūpam árandhayaḥ sākhyásya tritā́ya

May we gain wealth, Indra, by your help, overcoming all enemies with the Aryans! You gave the multi-formed son of Tvashtar to Trita for our friendship.

Stanza 2.11.20

अ॒स्य सु॑वा॒नस्य॑ म॒न्दिन॑स्त्रि॒तस्य॒ न्यर्बु॑दं वावृधा॒नो अ॑स्तः | अव॑र्तय॒त्सूर्यो॒ न च॒क्रं भि॒नद्व॒लमिन्द्रो॒ अङ्गि॑रस्वान् ||

asyá suvānásya mandínas tritásya ny árbudaṁ vāvr̥dhānó astaḥ ávartayat sū́ryo ná cakrám bhinád valám índro áṅgirasvān

Indra, strengthened by Trita's Soma, cast down Arbuda! Like the sun, Indra, the Angiras-aided, spun his wheel and broke Vala.

Stanza 2.11.21

नू॒नं सा ते॒ प्रति॒ वरं॑ जरि॒त्रे दु॑ही॒यदि॑न्द्र॒ दक्षि॑णा म॒घोनी॑ | शिक्षा॑ स्तो॒तृभ्यो॒ माति॑ ध॒ग्भगो॑ नो बृ॒हद्व॑देम वि॒दथे॑ सु॒वीराः॑ ||

nūnáṁ sā́ te práti váraṁ jaritré duhīyád indra dákṣiṇā maghónī śíkṣā stotŕ̥bhyo mā́ti dhag bhágo no br̥hád vadema vidáthe suvī́rāḥ

Now, Indra, may that generous gift of yours return to your worshipper! Grant us good fortune! Don't let our success fail! May we speak powerfully with heroes in the assembly.
