These dawn fires, accompanied by Indra, are awake, bringing light as the dawn breaks. May the great Earth and Sky be aware of us. Today, we seek the protection and favor of the gods.
This hymn begins by invoking the dawn fires, personified as 'Indra-possessing' and 'awake,' as they bring light with the first rays of dawn. It then calls upon the great dual deities of Heaven and Earth to be attentive to the sacred rituals. Finally, the speaker asks for the favor and protection of the gods for the present day.
