Stanza 10.15.1

उदी॑रता॒मव॑र॒ उत्परा॑स॒ उन्म॑ध्य॒माः पि॒तरः॑ सो॒म्यासः॑ | असुं॒ य ई॒युर॑वृ॒का ऋ॑त॒ज्ञास्ते नो॑ऽवन्तु पि॒तरो॒ हवे॑षु ||

úd īratām ávara út párāsa ún madhyamā́ḥ pitáraḥ somyā́saḥ ásuṁ yá īyúr avr̥kā́ r̥tajñā́s té no 'vantu pitáro háveṣu

May the lower, upper, and middle ancestors, who are worthy of Soma, ascend. May those who have attained the state of spirits, free from harm and knowledgeable in cosmic order, aid us in our calls.

Stanza 10.15.2

इ॒दं पि॒तृभ्यो॒ नमो॑ अस्त्व॒द्य ये पूर्वा॑सो॒ य उप॑रास ई॒युः | ये पार्थि॑वे॒ रज॒स्या निष॑त्ता॒ ये वा॑ नू॒नं सु॑वृ॒जना॑सु वि॒क्षु ||

idám pitŕ̥bhyo námo astv adyá yé pū́rvāso yá úparāsa īyúḥ yé pā́rthive rájasy ā́ níṣattā yé vā nūnáṁ suvr̥jánāsu vikṣú

Let this homage be for the ancestors today. For those who passed before and those who followed, for those who are settled in the earthly dust, and for those who are now among the great clans.

Stanza 10.15.3

आहं पि॒तॄन्त्सु॑वि॒दत्राँ॑ अवित्सि॒ नपा॑तं च वि॒क्रम॑णं च॒ विष्णोः॑ | ब॒र्हि॒षदो॒ ये स्व॒धया॑ सु॒तस्य॒ भज॑न्त पि॒त्वस्त इ॒हाग॑मिष्ठाः ||

ā́hám pitr̥ŕ̥n suvidátrām̐ avitsi nápātaṁ ca vikrámaṇaṁ ca víṣṇoḥ barhiṣádo yé svadháyā sutásya bhájanta pitvás tá ihā́gamiṣṭhāḥ

I have attained the well-bestowing ancestors, and the descendant and the stride of Vishnu. Those who, seated on sacred grass, enjoy the pressed juice with oblation, may they come here.

Stanza 10.15.4

बर्हि॑षदः पितर ऊ॒त्य१॒॑र्वागि॒मा वो॑ ह॒व्या च॑कृमा जु॒षध्व॑म् | त आ ग॒ताव॑सा॒ शंत॑मे॒नाथा॑ नः॒ शं योर॑र॒पो द॑धात ||

bárhiṣadaḥ pitara ūty àrvā́g imā́ vo havyā́ cakr̥mā juṣádhvam tá ā́ gatā́vasā śáṁtamenā́thā naḥ śáṁ yór arapó dadhāta

Fathers seated on sacred grass, come down with your help. We have made these offerings for you; please accept them. Come to us with auspicious protection, and grant us happiness and freedom from harm.

Stanza 10.15.5

उप॑हूताः पि॒तरः॑ सो॒म्यासो॑ बर्हि॒ष्ये॑षु नि॒धिषु॑ प्रि॒येषु॑ | त आ ग॑मन्तु॒ त इ॒ह श्रु॑व॒न्त्वधि॑ ब्रुवन्तु॒ ते॑ऽवन्त्व॒स्मान् ||

úpahūtāḥ pitáraḥ somyā́so barhiṣyèṣu nidhíṣu priyéṣu tá ā́ gamantu tá ihá śruvantv ádhi bruvantu tè 'vantv asmā́n

O ancestors, worthy of Soma, who have been invited, come to your beloved places on the sacred grass. Come here, listen to us, speak favorably, and help us.

Stanza 10.15.6

आच्या॒ जानु॑ दक्षिण॒तो नि॒षद्ये॒मं य॒ज्ञम॒भि गृ॑णीत॒ विश्वे॑ | मा हिं॑सिष्ट पितरः॒ केन॑ चिन्नो॒ यद्व॒ आगः॑ पुरु॒षता॒ करा॑म ||

ā́cyā jā́nu dakṣiṇató niṣádyemáṁ yajñám abhí gr̥ṇīta víśve mā́ hiṁsiṣṭa pitaraḥ kéna cin no yád va ā́gaḥ puruṣátā kárāma

Seated with your right knees bent, accept this sacrifice of ours with favor. O fathers, do not harm us for any sin that we may have committed through human weakness.

Stanza 10.15.7

आसी॑नासो अरु॒णीना॑मु॒पस्थे॑ र॒यिं ध॑त्त दा॒शुषे॒ मर्त्या॑य | पु॒त्रेभ्यः॑ पितर॒स्तस्य॒ वस्वः॒ प्र य॑च्छत॒ त इ॒होर्जं॑ दधात ||

ā́sīnāso aruṇī́nām upásthe rayíṁ dhatta dāśúṣe mártyāya putrébhyaḥ pitaras tásya vásvaḥ prá yachata tá ihórjaṁ dadhāta

Seated in the lap of the dawn, bestow wealth upon the mortal offerer. O ancestors, grant to your descendants the prosperity of that wealth, and here place vitality.

Stanza 10.15.8

ये नः॒ पूर्वे॑ पि॒तरः॑ सो॒म्यासो॑ऽनूहि॒रे सो॑मपी॒थं वसि॑ष्ठाः | तेभि॑र्य॒मः सं॑ररा॒णो ह॒वींष्यु॒शन्नु॒शद्भिः॑ प्रतिका॒मम॑त्तु ||

yé naḥ pū́rve pitáraḥ somyā́so 'nūhiré somapītháṁ vásiṣṭhāḥ tébhir yamáḥ saṁrarāṇó havī́ṁṣy uśánn uśádbhiḥ pratikāmám attu

Those of our former ancestors, who are Soma-worthy and who approached the Soma-drink, O Vasisthas. With them, let Yama, well-pleased and desiring, eat the offerings, delighting with the delighted.

Stanza 10.15.9

ये ता॑तृ॒षुर्दे॑व॒त्रा जेह॑माना होत्रा॒विदः॒ स्तोम॑तष्टासो अ॒र्कैः | आग्ने॑ याहि सुवि॒दत्रे॑भिर॒र्वाङ्स॒त्यैः क॒व्यैः पि॒तृभि॑र्घर्म॒सद्भिः॑ ||

yé tātr̥ṣúr devatrā́ jéhamānā hotrāvída stómataṣṭāso arkaíḥ ā́gne yāhi suvidátrebhir arvā́ṅ satyaíḥ kavyaíḥ pitŕ̥bhir gharmasádbhiḥ

Those who thirsted among the gods, hastening, knowing the rituals, praised by hymns. Come, Agni, with the gracious ones, the Kavyas, who dwell in light.

Stanza 10.15.10

ये स॒त्यासो॑ हवि॒रदो॑ हवि॒ष्पा इन्द्रे॑ण दे॒वैः स॒रथं॒ दधा॑नाः | आग्ने॑ याहि स॒हस्रं॑ देवव॒न्दैः परैः॒ पूर्वैः॑ पि॒तृभि॑र्घर्म॒सद्भिः॑ ||

yé satyā́so havirádo haviṣpā́ índreṇa devaíḥ saráthaṁ dádhānāḥ ā́gne yāhi sahásraṁ devavandaíḥ páraiḥ pū́rvaiḥ pitŕ̥bhir gharmasádbhiḥ

O Agni, come with the truthful, food-eating, offering-sharing ancestors, who travel together with Indra and the Gods. Come, Agni, with thousands of divine adorers, with the ancient fathers who dwell in light.

Stanza 10.15.11

अग्नि॑ष्वात्ताः पितर॒ एह ग॑च्छत॒ सदः॑सदः सदत सुप्रणीतयः | अ॒त्ता ह॒वींषि॒ प्रय॑तानि ब॒र्हिष्यथा॑ र॒यिं सर्व॑वीरं दधातन ||

ágniṣvāttāḥ pitara éhá gachata sádaḥ-sadaḥ sadata supraṇītayaḥ attā́ havī́ṁṣi práyatāni barhíṣy áthā rayíṁ sárvavīraṁ dadhātana

O Fathers, touched by Agni, come here. Take your seats one by one, O good leaders. Eat the offerings prepared on the sacred grass, and then grant abundant wealth with all children.

Stanza 10.15.12

त्वम॑ग्न ईळि॒तो जा॑तवे॒दोऽवा॑ड्ढ॒व्यानि॑ सुर॒भीणि॑ कृ॒त्वी | प्रादाः॑ पि॒तृभ्यः॑ स्व॒धया॒ ते अ॑क्षन्न॒द्धि त्वं दे॑व॒ प्रय॑ता ह॒वींषि॑ ||

tvám agna īḷitó jātavedó 'vāḍ ḍhavyā́ni surabhī́ṇi kr̥tvī́ prā́dāḥ pitŕ̥bhyaḥ svadháyā té akṣann addhí tváṁ deva práyatā havī́ṁṣi

O Agni, Jātavedas, when praised, you carried the pleasing offerings, made them fragrant, and gave them to the fathers; they ate them with svadha. Now you, O god, eat these prepared offerings.

Stanza 10.15.13

ये चे॒ह पि॒तरो॒ ये च॒ नेह याँश्च॑ वि॒द्म याँ उ॑ च॒ न प्र॑वि॒द्म | त्वं वे॑त्थ॒ यति॒ ते जा॑तवेदः स्व॒धाभि॑र्य॒ज्ञं सुकृ॑तं जुषस्व ||

yé cehá pitáro yé ca néhá yā́ṁś ca vidmá yā́m̐ u ca ná pravidmá tváṁ vettha yáti té jātavedaḥ svadhā́bhir yajñáṁ súkr̥taṁ juṣasva

You know, O Jātavedas, the number of those who are here, who are not here, whom we know, and whom we do not know. O Jātavedas, with offerings, accept this well-made sacrifice.

Stanza 10.15.14

ये अ॑ग्निद॒ग्धा ये अन॑ग्निदग्धा॒ मध्ये॑ दि॒वः स्व॒धया॑ मा॒दय॑न्ते | तेभिः॑ स्व॒राळसु॑नीतिमे॒तां य॑थाव॒शं त॒न्वं॑ कल्पयस्व ||

yé agnidagdhā́ yé ánagnidagdhā mádhye diváḥ svadháyā mādáyante tébhiḥ svarā́ḷ ásunītim etā́ṁ yathāvaśáṁ tanvàṁ kalpayasva

Those who are burnt by Agni, and those who are not burnt by Agni, rejoicing with offerings in the middle of the sky. O Sovereign Lord, with them, shape their bodies and their spirit-world according to your pleasure.
