Stanza 10.138.1

तव॒ त्य इ॑न्द्र स॒ख्येषु॒ वह्न॑य ऋ॒तं म॑न्वा॒ना व्य॑दर्दिरुर्व॒लम् | यत्रा॑ दश॒स्यन्नु॒षसो॑ रि॒णन्न॒पः कुत्सा॑य॒ मन्म॑न्न॒ह्य॑श्च दं॒सयः॑ ||

táva tyá indra sakhyéṣu váhnaya r̥tám manvānā́ vy àdardirur valám yátrā daśasyánn uṣáso riṇánn apáḥ kútsāya mánmann ahyàś ca daṁsáyaḥ

O Indra, remembering the divine order, your priests, in alliance with you, broke apart Vritra. They brought forth the dawns, released the waters, and in their worship, you struck down the dark beings at Kutsa's request.

Stanza 10.138.2

अवा॑सृजः प्र॒स्वः॑ श्व॒ञ्चयो॑ गि॒रीनुदा॑ज उ॒स्रा अपि॑बो॒ मधु॑ प्रि॒यम् | अव॑र्धयो व॒निनो॑ अस्य॒ दंस॑सा शु॒शोच॒ सूर्य॑ ऋ॒तजा॑तया गि॒रा ||

ávāsr̥jaḥ prasvàḥ śvañcáyo girī́n úd āja usrā́ ápibo mádhu priyám ávardhayo vaníno asya dáṁsasā śuśóca sū́rya r̥tájātayā girā́

You unleashed productive energies, carved the mountains, drove the herds, and drank the pleasant nectar. You caused the woods to grow through your might. The Sun shone with its radiant light, born from the hymn of cosmic order.

Stanza 10.138.3

वि सूर्यो॒ मध्ये॑ अमुच॒द्रथं॑ दि॒वो वि॒दद्दा॒साय॑ प्रति॒मान॒मार्यः॑ | दृ॒ळ्हानि॒ पिप्रो॒रसु॑रस्य मा॒यिन॒ इन्द्रो॒ व्या॑स्यच्चकृ॒वाँ ऋ॒जिश्व॑ना ||

ví sū́ryo mádhye amucad ráthaṁ divó vidád dāsā́ya pratimā́nam ā́ryaḥ dr̥ḷhā́ni pípror ásurasya māyína índro vy āā̀syac cakr̥vā́m̐ r̥jíśvanā

The Sun unyoked its chariot in the middle of the sky. The Arya (Indra) found a match for the Dasa (Pipru). With Rijishvan, Indra, who is powerful and skilled in illusion, broke the strong fortresses of the Asura Pipru.

Stanza 10.138.4

अना॑धृष्टानि धृषि॒तो व्या॑स्यन्नि॒धीँरदे॑वाँ अमृणद॒यास्यः॑ | मा॒सेव॒ सूर्यो॒ वसु॒ पुर्य॒मा द॑दे गृणा॒नः शत्रूँ॑रशृणाद्वि॒रुक्म॑ता ||

ánādhr̥ṣṭāni dhr̥ṣitó vy āā̀syan nidhī́m̐r ádevām̐ amr̥ṇad ayā́syaḥ māséva sū́ryo vásu púryam ā́ dade gr̥ṇānáḥ śátrūm̐r aśr̥ṇād virúkmatā

Fearlessly, you attacked the impregnable fortresses. You destroyed the hidden treasures of the godless ones. Like the Sun and Moon, you seized the wealth of the city. Praised in song, you shattered the enemies with your shining weapon.

Stanza 10.138.5

अयु॑द्धसेनो वि॒भ्वा॑ विभिन्द॒ता दाश॑द्वृत्र॒हा तुज्या॑नि तेजते | इन्द्र॑स्य॒ वज्रा॑दबिभेदभि॒श्नथः॒ प्राक्रा॑मच्छु॒न्ध्यूरज॑हादु॒षा अनः॑ ||

áyuddhaseno vibhvāā̀ vibhindatā́ dā́śad vr̥trahā́ tújyāni tejate índrasya vájrād abibhed abhiśnáthaḥ prā́krāmac chundhyū́r ájahād uṣā́ ánaḥ

Equipped with an irresistible army, possessing great strength to strike, the slayer of Vritra sharpened his darts and inflicted deadly wounds. Ushas (the dawn) feared Indra's thunderbolt and fled, leaving her chariot behind.

Stanza 10.138.6

ए॒ता त्या ते॒ श्रुत्या॑नि॒ केव॑ला॒ यदेक॒ एक॒मकृ॑णोरय॒ज्ञम् | मा॒सां वि॒धान॑मदधा॒ अधि॒ द्यवि॒ त्वया॒ विभि॑न्नं भरति प्र॒धिं पि॒ता ||

etā́ tyā́ te śrútyāni kévalā yád éka ékam ákr̥ṇor ayajñám māsā́ṁ vidhā́nam adadhā ádhi dyávi tváyā víbhinnam bharati pradhím pitā́

These are your famous deeds, O Indra, uniquely yours, when you alone made the sacrifice ineffective. You established the division of the months in the heavens. The Father carries out the ordered arrangement with your help.
