Stanza 1.95.1

द्वे विरू॑पे चरतः॒ स्वर्थे॑ अ॒न्यान्या॑ व॒त्समुप॑ धापयेते | हरि॑र॒न्यस्यां॒ भव॑ति स्व॒धावा॑ञ्छु॒क्रो अ॒न्यस्यां॑ ददृशे सु॒वर्चाः॑ ||

dvé vírūpe carataḥ svárthe anyā́nyā vatsám úpa dhāpayete hárir anyásyām bhávati svadhā́vāñ chukró anyásyāṁ dadr̥śe suvárcāḥ

Two beings of different forms move together, aiming for good. They nurture a young one. One is radiant with a divine, golden appearance; the other is bright and shines with beauty.

Stanza 1.95.2

दशे॒मं त्वष्टु॑र्जनयन्त॒ गर्भ॒मत॑न्द्रासो युव॒तयो॒ विभृ॑त्रम् | ति॒ग्मानी॑कं॒ स्वय॑शसं॒ जने॑षु वि॒रोच॑मानं॒ परि॑ षीं नयन्ति ||

dáśemáṁ tváṣṭur janayanta gárbham átandrāso yuvatáyo víbhr̥tram tigmā́nīkaṁ sváyaśasaṁ jáneṣu virócamānam pári ṣīṁ nayanti

Ten diligent young women have brought forth the offspring of Tvashtr. They carry him, the sharp-faced one, full of his own glory, shining among people.

Stanza 1.95.3

त्रीणि॒ जाना॒ परि॑ भूषन्त्यस्य समु॒द्र एकं॑ दि॒व्येक॑म॒प्सु | पूर्वा॒मनु॒ प्र दिशं॒ पार्थि॑वानामृ॒तून्प्र॒शास॒द्वि द॑धावनु॒ष्ठु ||

trī́ṇi jā́nā pári bhūṣanty asya samudrá ékaṁ divy ékam apsú pū́rvām ánu prá díśam pā́rthivānām r̥tū́n praśā́sad ví dadhāv anuṣṭhú

They celebrate his three births: in the sea, in the sky, and in the waters. In the eastern direction, he governs the seasons for the earth dwellers.

Stanza 1.95.4

क इ॒मं वो॑ नि॒ण्यमा चि॑केत व॒त्सो मा॒तॄर्ज॑नयत स्व॒धाभिः॑ | ब॒ह्वी॒नां गर्भो॑ अ॒पसा॑मु॒पस्था॑न्म॒हान्क॒विर्निश्च॑रति स्व॒धावा॑न् ||

ká imáṁ vo niṇyám ā́ ciketa vatsó mātr̥ŕ̥r janayata svadhā́bhiḥ bahvīnā́ṁ gárbho apásām upásthān mahā́n kavír níś carati svadhā́vān

Who among you truly understands this hidden one? The young one has given birth to its mothers. The great, wise being emerges from the waters, sustained by its own power.

Stanza 1.95.5

आ॒विष्ट्यो॑ वर्धते॒ चारु॑रासु जि॒ह्माना॑मू॒र्ध्वः स्वय॑शा उ॒पस्थे॑ | उ॒भे त्वष्टु॑र्बिभ्यतु॒र्जाय॑मानात्प्रती॒ची सिं॒हं प्रति॑ जोषयेते ||

āvíṣṭyo vardhate cā́rur āsu jihmā́nām ūrdhváḥ sváyaśā upásthe ubhé tváṣṭur bibhyatur jā́yamānāt pratīcī́ siṁhám práti joṣayete

Visibly growing in beauty and glory within the waters, he stands tall. When he was born, both parents feared him, but they turn to and adore this lion-like being.

Stanza 1.95.6

उ॒भे भ॒द्रे जो॑षयेते॒ न मेने॒ गावो॒ न वा॒श्रा उप॑ तस्थु॒रेवैः॑ | स दक्षा॑णां॒ दक्ष॑पतिर्बभूवा॒ञ्जन्ति॒ यं द॑क्षिण॒तो ह॒विर्भिः॑ ||

ubhé bhadré joṣayete ná méne gā́vo ná vāśrā́ úpa tasthur évaiḥ sá dákṣāṇāṁ dákṣapatir babhūvāñjánti yáṁ dakṣiṇató havírbhiḥ

Both auspicious ones cherish him like women; like lowing cows, they approach him. He has become the lord of the mighty, whom they honor with offerings from the right.

Stanza 1.95.7

उद्यं॑यमीति सवि॒तेव॑ बा॒हू उ॒भे सिचौ॑ यतते भी॒म ऋ॒ञ्जन् | उच्छु॒क्रमत्क॑मजते सि॒मस्मा॒न्नवा॑ मा॒तृभ्यो॒ वस॑ना जहाति ||

úd yaṁyamīti savitéva bāhū́ ubhé sícau yatate bhīmá r̥ñján úc chukrám átkam ajate simásmān návā māṭŕ̥bhyo vásanā jahāti

He stretches his arms like Savitr. The formidable one strives, embracing the world's limits. He brings forth his own bright brilliance and sheds old forms for new ones for his mothers.

Stanza 1.95.8

त्वे॒षं रू॒पं कृ॑णुत॒ उत्त॑रं॒ यत्स॑म्पृञ्चा॒नः सद॑ने॒ गोभि॑र॒द्भिः | क॒विर्बु॒ध्नं परि॑ मर्मृज्यते॒ धीः सा दे॒वता॑ता॒ समि॑तिर्बभूव ||

tveṣáṁ rūpáṁ kr̥ṇuta úttaraṁ yát sampr̥ñcānáḥ sádane góbhir adbhíḥ kavír budhnám pári marmr̥jyate dhī́ḥ sā́ devátātā sámitir babhūva

He makes a brilliant, superior form, mingling with cows and waters. His wisdom purifies his foundation. This became the divine gathering.

Stanza 1.95.9

उ॒रु ते॒ ज्रयः॒ पर्ये॑ति बु॒ध्नं वि॒रोच॑मानं महि॒षस्य॒ धाम॑ | विश्वे॑भिरग्ने॒ स्वय॑शोभिरि॒द्धोऽद॑ब्धेभिः पा॒युभिः॑ पाह्य॒स्मान् ||

urú te jráyaḥ páry eti budhnáṁ virócamānam mahiṣásya dhā́ma víśvebhir agne sváyaśobhir iddhó 'dabdhebhiḥ pāyúbhiḥ pāhy asmā́n

Your great brilliance spreads widely. You are the foundation of the mighty. Agni, protected by your unassailable, self-radiant powers, protect us.

Stanza 1.95.10

धन्व॒न्त्स्रोतः॑ कृणुते गा॒तुमू॒र्मिं शु॒क्रैरू॒र्मिभि॑र॒भि न॑क्षति॒ क्षाम् | विश्वा॒ सना॑नि ज॒ठरे॑षु धत्ते॒ऽन्तर्नवा॑सु चरति प्र॒सूषु॑ ||

dhánvan srótaḥ kr̥ṇute gātúm ūrmíṁ śukraír ūrmíbhir abhí nakṣati kṣā́m víśvā sánāni jaṭháreṣu dhatte 'ntár návāsu carati prasū́ṣu

In dry lands, it creates streams and floods. With radiant waves, it reaches the earth. It holds all old things within and moves among the new sprouts.

Stanza 1.95.11

ए॒वा नो॑ अग्ने स॒मिधा॑ वृधा॒नो रे॒वत्पा॑वक॒ श्रव॑से॒ वि भा॑हि | तन्नो॑ मि॒त्रो वरु॑णो मामहन्ता॒मदि॑तिः॒ सिन्धुः॑ पृथि॒वी उ॒त द्यौः ||

evā́ no agne samídhā vr̥dhānó revát pāvaka śrávase ví bhāhi tán no mitró váruṇo māmahantām áditiḥ síndhuḥ pr̥thivī́ utá dyaúḥ

Agni, fueled by our offerings, shine upon us with wealth and glory. May Mitra, Varuna, Aditi, the River, Earth, and Sky grant us this favor.
