Stanza 1.88.1

आ वि॒द्युन्म॑द्भिर्मरुतः स्व॒र्कै रथे॑भिर्यात ऋष्टि॒मद्भि॒रश्व॑पर्णैः | आ वर्षि॑ष्ठया न इ॒षा वयो॒ न प॑प्तता सुमायाः ||

ā́ vidyúnmadbhir marutaḥ svarkaí ráthebhir yāta r̥ṣṭimádbhir áśvaparṇaiḥ ā́ várṣiṣṭhayā na iṣā́ váyo ná paptatā sumāyāḥ

Come, Maruts, with your lightning-powered chariots, sounding beautifully, armed with spears, and winged like horses! Approach us with the best nourishment, flying swiftly like birds, O you who possess great power!

Stanza 1.88.2

ते॑ऽरु॒णेभि॒र्वर॒मा पि॒शङ्गैः॑ शु॒भे कं या॑न्ति रथ॒तूर्भि॒रश्वैः॑ | रु॒क्मो न चि॒त्रः स्वधि॑तीवान्प॒व्या रथ॑स्य जङ्घनन्त॒ भूम॑ ||

tè 'ruṇébhir váram ā́ piśáṅgaiḥ śubhé káṁ yānti rathatū́rbhir áśvaiḥ rukmó ná citráḥ svádhitīvān pavyā́ ráthasya jaṅghananta bhū́ma

They come with their brilliant, reddish or tawny horses, in chariots that move swiftly. They arrive for glory. Like shining gold, a powerful one, equipped with a tool, strikes the earth with the chariot's rim.

Stanza 1.88.3

श्रि॒ये कं वो॒ अधि॑ त॒नूषु॒ वाशी॑र्मे॒धा वना॒ न कृ॑णवन्त ऊ॒र्ध्वा | यु॒ष्मभ्यं॒ कं म॑रुतः सुजातास्तुविद्यु॒म्नासो॑ धनयन्ते॒ अद्रि॑म् ||

śriyé káṁ vo ádhi tanū́ṣu vā́śīr medhā́ vánā ná kr̥ṇavanta ūrdhvā́ yuṣmábhyaṁ kám marutaḥ sujātās tuvidyumnā́so dhanayante ádrim

For beauty, you have sharp weapons upon your bodies. May your power stir our minds, just as you stir the forests! O Maruts, so well-born and full of thunderous might, you have set the stone rolling!

Stanza 1.88.4

अहा॑नि॒ गृध्राः॒ पर्या व॒ आगु॑रि॒मां धियं॑ वार्का॒र्यां च॑ दे॒वीम् | ब्रह्म॑ कृ॒ण्वन्तो॒ गोत॑मासो अ॒र्कैरू॒र्ध्वं नु॑नुद्र उत्स॒धिं पिब॑ध्यै ||

áhāni gŕ̥dhrāḥ páry ā́ va ā́gur imā́ṁ dhíyaṁ vārkāryā́ṁ ca devī́m bráhma kr̥ṇvánto gótamāso arkaír ūrdhváṁ nunudra utsadhím píbadhyai

O yearners, the days went around you and returned, to this prayer and this divine worship. The Gotamas, making their sacred chants with hymns, have pushed up the well's lid to drink.

Stanza 1.88.5

ए॒तत्त्यन्न योज॑नमचेति स॒स्वर्ह॒ यन्म॑रुतो॒ गोत॑मो वः | पश्य॒न्हिर॑ण्यचक्रा॒नयो॑दंष्ट्रान्वि॒धाव॑तो व॒राहू॑न् ||

etát tyán ná yójanam aceti sasvár ha yán maruto gótamo vaḥ páśyan híraṇyacakrān áyodaṁṣṭrān vidhā́vato varā́hūn

This unique way of joining (in song) is new! Gotama sang this for you, O Maruts, when he saw you with your golden wheels, rushing like wild boars with iron tusks.

Stanza 1.88.6

ए॒षा स्या वो॑ मरुतोऽनुभ॒र्त्री प्रति॑ ष्टोभति वा॒घतो॒ न वाणी॑ | अस्तो॑भय॒द्वृथा॑सा॒मनु॑ स्व॒धां गभ॑स्त्योः ||

eṣā́ syā́ vo maruto 'nubhartrī́ práti ṣṭobhati vāgháto ná vā́ṇī ástobhayad vŕ̥thāsām ánu svadhā́ṁ gábhastyoḥ

This offering rushes to support you, O Maruts, like the voice of a worshipper. It flows freely from our hands, following the natural order.
