Stanza 1.7.1

इन्द्र॒मिद्गा॒थिनो॑ बृ॒हदिन्द्र॑म॒र्केभि॑र॒र्किणः॑ | इन्द्रं॒ वाणी॑रनूषत ||

índram íd gāthíno br̥hád índram arkébhir arkíṇaḥ índraṁ vā́ṇīr anūṣata

The singers praise Indra with their great songs, the hymn-reciters with their verses, and the chanting choirs praise Indra!

Stanza 1.7.2

इन्द्र॒ इद्धर्योः॒ सचा॒ सम्मि॑श्ल॒ आ व॑चो॒युजा॑ | इन्द्रो॑ व॒ज्री हि॑र॒ण्ययः॑ ||

índra íd dháryoḥ sácā sámmiśla ā́ vacoyújā índro vajrī́ hiraṇyáyaḥ

Indra is always with his bay horses, his chariot yoked with words. Indra, the golden one, armed with the thunderbolt!

Stanza 1.7.3

इन्द्रो॑ दी॒र्घाय॒ चक्ष॑स॒ आ सूर्यं॑ रोहयद्दि॒वि | वि गोभि॒रद्रि॑मैरयत् ||

índro dīrghā́ya cákṣasa ā́ sū́ryaṁ rohayad diví ví góbhir ádrim airayat

Indra raised the sun into the sky for long sight, and with the cows, he released the mountain!

Stanza 1.7.4

इन्द्र॒ वाजे॑षु नोऽव स॒हस्र॑प्रधनेषु च | उ॒ग्र उ॒ग्राभि॑रू॒तिभिः॑ ||

índra vā́jeṣu no 'va sahásrapradhaneṣu ca ugrá ugrā́bhir ūtíbhiḥ

Indra, help us in the battles, in the great contests where thousands are won! You who are powerful, come with your mighty protections!

Stanza 1.7.5

इन्द्रं॑ व॒यं म॑हाध॒न इन्द्र॒मर्भे॑ हवामहे | युजं॑ वृ॒त्रेषु॑ व॒ज्रिण॑म् ||

índraṁ vayám mahādhaná índram árbhe havāmahe yújaṁ vr̥tréṣu vajríṇam

We call upon Indra in great battles, we call upon Indra in small fights, the ally, the thunderbolt-wielder in conflicts!

Stanza 1.7.6

स नो॑ वृषन्न॒मुं च॒रुं सत्रा॑दाव॒न्नपा॑ वृधि | अ॒स्मभ्य॒मप्र॑तिष्कुतः ||

sá no vr̥ṣann amúṁ carúṁ sátrādāvann ápā vr̥dhi asmábhyam ápratiṣkutaḥ

O powerful Indra, giver of all, open to us that special offering! Be ours alone, our invincible protector!

Stanza 1.7.7

तु॒ञ्जेतु॑ञ्जे॒ य उत्त॑रे॒ स्तोमा॒ इन्द्र॑स्य व॒ज्रिणः॑ | न वि॑न्धे अस्य सुष्टु॒तिम् ||

tuñjé-tuñje yá úttare stómā índrasya vajríṇaḥ ná vindhe asya suṣṭutím

With every song that rises higher, the praises of Indra, the thunderbolt-wielder, increase! I cannot find a praise equal to his greatness.

Stanza 1.7.8

वृषा॑ यू॒थेव॒ वंस॑गः कृ॒ष्टीरि॑य॒र्त्योज॑सा | ईशा॑नो॒ अप्र॑तिष्कुतः ||

vŕ̥ṣā yūthéva váṁsagaḥ kr̥ṣṭī́r iyarty ójasā ī́śāno ápratiṣkutaḥ

Like a bull leading a herd, Indra moves with strength, driving the people with his power. He is the supreme, irresistible ruler!

Stanza 1.7.9

य एक॑श्चर्षणी॒नां वसू॑नामिर॒ज्यति॑ | इन्द्रः॒ पञ्च॑ क्षिती॒नाम् ||

yá ékaś carṣaṇīnā́ṁ vásūnām irajyáti índraḥ páñca kṣitīnā́m

He, the one, rules over men, over riches, and over the five peoples! Indra is the sovereign!

Stanza 1.7.10

इन्द्रं॑ वो वि॒श्वत॒स्परि॒ हवा॑महे॒ जने॑भ्यः | अ॒स्माक॑मस्तु॒ केव॑लः ||

índraṁ vo viśvátas pári hávāmahe jánebhyaḥ asmā́kam astu kévalaḥ

We call Indra from all sides, away from other people, for you! May he be ours alone!
