Stanza 1.69.1

शु॒क्रः शु॑शु॒क्वाँ उ॒षो न जा॒रः प॒प्रा स॑मी॒ची दि॒वो न ज्योतिः॑ ||

śukráḥ śuśukvā́m̐ uṣó ná jāráḥ paprā́ samīcī́ divó ná jyótiḥ

Shining so brightly, like Dawn's passionate admirer, Agni has filled the two connected realms with light, just like the sky's glow.

Stanza 1.69.2

परि॒ प्रजा॑तः॒ क्रत्वा॑ बभूथ॒ भुवो॑ दे॒वानां॑ पि॒ता पु॒त्रः सन् ||

pári prájātaḥ krátvā babhūtha bhúvo devā́nām pitā́ putráḥ sán

As soon as you were born, you powerfully excelled through your wisdom. Being the son of the gods, you became their father.

Stanza 1.69.3

वे॒धा अदृ॑प्तो अ॒ग्निर्वि॑जा॒नन्नूध॒र्न गोनां॒ स्वाद्मा॑ पितू॒नाम् ||

vedhā́ ádr̥pto agnír vijānánn ū́dhar ná gónāṁ svā́dmā pitūnā́m

Agni, the discerning sage, never faltering, is like the udder of cows, providing the sweetest essence of nourishment.

Stanza 1.69.4

जने॒ न शेव॑ आ॒हूर्यः॒ सन्मध्ये॒ निष॑त्तो र॒ण्वो दु॑रो॒णे ||

jáne ná śéva āhū́ryaḥ sán mádhye níṣatto raṇvó duroṇé

Like a comforting friend to people, Agni, the beloved, sits right in the middle of the home.

Stanza 1.69.5

पु॒त्रो न जा॒तो र॒ण्वो दु॑रो॒णे वा॒जी न प्री॒तो विशो॒ वि ता॑रीत् ||

putró ná jātó raṇvó duroṇé vājī́ ná prītó víśo ví tārīt

Like a delightful son born in the home, Agni, energized like a fine horse, has moved through the communities.

Stanza 1.69.6

विशो॒ यदह्वे॒ नृभिः॒ सनी॑ळा अ॒ग्निर्दे॑व॒त्वा विश्वा॑न्यश्याः ||

víśo yád áhve nŕ̥bhiḥ sánīḷā agnír devatvā́ víśvāny aśyāḥ

When I, with heroes, call to the communities dwelling together, may Agni then achieve all divine powers.

Stanza 1.69.7

नकि॑ष्ट ए॒ता व्र॒ता मि॑नन्ति॒ नृभ्यो॒ यदे॒भ्यः श्रु॒ष्टिं च॒कर्थ॑ ||

nákiṣ ṭa etā́ vratā́ minanti nŕ̥bhyo yád ebhyáḥ śruṣṭíṁ cakártha

No one breaks your laws, for when you grant favor to these heroes, they remain unbroken.

Stanza 1.69.8

तत्तु ते॒ दंसो॒ यदह॑न्त्समा॒नैर्नृभि॒र्यद्यु॒क्तो वि॒वे रपां॑सि ||

tát tú te dáṁso yád áhan samānaír nŕ̥bhir yád yuktó vivé rápāṁsi

That is indeed your great deed: you struck down foes with your equals, and united with heroes, you have accomplished your tasks.

Stanza 1.69.9

उ॒षो न जा॒रो वि॒भावो॒स्रः संज्ञा॑तरूप॒श्चिके॑तदस्मै ||

uṣó ná jāró vibhā́vosráḥ sáṁjñātarūpaś cíketad asmai

Like the Dawn's lover, radiant and widely known, may Agni, the wise one, remember us.

Stanza 1.69.10

त्मना॒ वह॑न्तो॒ दुरो॒ व्यृ॑ण्व॒न्नव॑न्त॒ विश्वे॒ स्व१॒॑र्दृशी॑के ||

tmánā váhanto dúro vy r̥̀ṇvan návanta víśve svàr dŕ̥śīke

Carrying (the divine presence) by their own power, they opened the doors. All of them, seeing the brilliant light, shouted joyfully.
