Stanza 1.60.1

वह्निं॑ य॒शसं॑ वि॒दथ॑स्य के॒तुं सु॑प्रा॒व्यं॑ दू॒तं स॒द्योअ॑र्थम् | द्वि॒जन्मा॑नं र॒यिमि॑व प्रश॒स्तं रा॒तिं भ॑र॒द्भृग॑वे मात॒रिश्वा॑ ||

váhniṁ yaśásaṁ vidáthasya ketúṁ suprāvyàṁ dūtáṁ sadyóartham dvijánmānaṁ rayím iva praśastáṁ rātím bharad bhŕ̥gave mātaríśvā

Matarishvan brought Agni, the glorious messenger, like a precious treasure! He's the radiant beacon of the sacrifice, a protector, born twice, and arrives instantly. This gift is presented to Bhrigu.

Stanza 1.60.2

अ॒स्य शासु॑रु॒भया॑सः सचन्ते ह॒विष्म॑न्त उ॒शिजो॒ ये च॒ मर्ताः॑ | दि॒वश्चि॒त्पूर्वो॒ न्य॑सादि॒ होता॒पृच्छ्यो॑ वि॒श्पति॑र्वि॒क्षु वे॒धाः ||

asyá śā́sur ubháyāsaḥ sacante havíṣmanta uśíjo yé ca mártāḥ diváś cit pū́rvo ny àsādi hótāpŕ̥chyo viśpátir vikṣú vedhā́ḥ

Everyone, gods and humans alike, follow Agni's command! He's the chosen priest, the lord of the home, who sits in his place before dawn among the people. He's the one who organizes everything and is respected by all.

Stanza 1.60.3

तं नव्य॑सी हृ॒द आ जाय॑मानम॒स्मत्सु॑की॒र्तिर्मधु॑जिह्वमश्याः | यमृ॒त्विजो॑ वृ॒जने॒ मानु॑षासः॒ प्रय॑स्वन्त आ॒यवो॒ जीज॑नन्त ||

táṁ návyasī hr̥dá ā́ jā́yamānam asmát sukīrtír mádhujihvam aśyāḥ yám r̥tvíjo vr̥jáne mā́nuṣāsaḥ práyasvanta āyávo jī́jananta

May our fresh, heartfelt praise reach you, Agni, with your sweet tongue! You are born within us, and we, the priests and families, nourish you with offerings, helping you come forth.

Stanza 1.60.4

उ॒शिक्पा॑व॒को वसु॒र्मानु॑षेषु॒ वरे॑ण्यो॒ होता॑धायि वि॒क्षु | दमू॑ना गृ॒हप॑ति॒र्दम॒ आँ अ॒ग्निर्भु॑वद्रयि॒पती॑ रयी॒णाम् ||

uśík pāvakó vásur mā́nuṣeṣu váreṇyo hótādhāyi vikṣú dámūnā gr̥hápatir dáma ā́m̐ agnír bhuvad rayipátī rayīṇā́m

Agni, the pure, desired by all, is established among humans as the priest and house-lord. He is the master of our homes and the lord of riches. May Agni dwell in our houses and be the bestower of wealth!

Stanza 1.60.5

तं त्वा॑ व॒यं पति॑मग्ने रयी॒णां प्र शं॑सामो म॒तिभि॒र्गोत॑मासः | आ॒शुं न वा॑जम्भ॒रं म॒र्जय॑न्तः प्रा॒तर्म॒क्षू धि॒याव॑सुर्जगम्यात् ||

táṁ tvā vayám pátim agne rayīṇā́m prá śaṁsāmo matíbhir gótamāsaḥ āśúṁ ná vājambharám marjáyantaḥ prātár makṣū́ dhiyā́vasur jagamyāt

We Gotamas praise you, Agni, lord of treasures, with our thoughts! We groom you like a fast, prize-winning horse. May you, who gives us wealth through our devotion, come quickly to us, especially in the morning!
