Stanza 1.26.1
वसि॑ष्वा॒ हि मि॑येध्य॒ वस्त्रा॑ण्यूर्जां पते | सेमं नो॑ अध्व॒रं य॑ज ||
vásiṣvā hí miyedhya vástrāṇy ūrjām pate sémáṁ no adhvaráṁ yaja
O radiant one, Lord of energies, please clothe yourself and accept this sacrifice of ours!
This verse is an invocation to Agni, the god of fire. The devotee asks Agni to put on his radiant 'robes' (perhaps symbolizing his divine form or power) and to accept and preside over the sacrifice they are offering. It's like asking a guest of honor to get ready and be present for a special meal you've prepared.

ní no hótā váreṇyaḥ sádā yaviṣṭha mánmabhiḥ ágne divítmatā vácaḥ
O Agni, most youthful one, as our chosen priest, sit here with us, accepting our hymns and heavenly words.
This verse continues the prayer to Agni, addressing him as the 'youthful' and 'desirable' priest (Hotri). The devotee asks Agni to sit down and accept their worship, which is offered through hymns and heartfelt thoughts, as well as through Agni's own heavenly word or message.

आ हि ष्मा॑ सू॒नवे॑ पि॒तापिर्यज॑त्या॒पये॑ | सखा॒ सख्ये॒ वरे॑ण्यः ||
ā́ hí ṣmā sūnáve pitā́pír yájaty āpáye sákhā sákhye váreṇyaḥ
For, a father brings benefits to his son, a relative to his relative, and a chosen friend to his friend; the god also acts similarly.
This verse uses analogies to explain the principle of divine connection and support. It states that just as a father offers support to his son, a kinsman helps a kinsman, and a chosen friend aids his friend, so too should Agni (or the divine in general) support the worshippers.

Here, the worshippers invite three prominent deities - Varuna, Mitra, and Aryaman - to be present. They ask these gods, who are described as 'foe-destroyers' and 'rich in blessings', to sit on the sacred grass prepared for the ritual, just as they had done in the past, perhaps for Manu (a progenitor figure).

Because whatever we constantly offer to any god, the offering is truly made to you, O Agni.
This verse explains that any sacrifice offered to any god, at any time, is ultimately directed towards Agni. It signifies Agni's central role in mediating all worship, and that the offerings (havis) are truly received and experienced by him.

This is a concluding prayer for favor. The worshippers wish for Agni to be their beloved 'master of the house' (viśpati) and a delightful, chosen priest. In return, they hope that they themselves, with their bright fires, will be dear to him.

Indeed, the gods, when well-served, have granted us valuable blessings. We believe we also have these good fires.
This verse reflects on past blessings. The worshippers state that the gods, when equipped with 'good fires' (meaning properly worshipped), have bestowed precious gifts upon them. They express their belief that they too are now blessed with these 'good fires', signifying their successful ritual.
