Stanza 1.1.1

अ॒ग्निमी॑ळे पु॒रोहि॑तं य॒ज्ञस्य॑ दे॒वमृ॒त्विज॑म् | होता॑रं रत्न॒धात॑मम् ||

agním īḷe puróhitaṁ yajñásya devám r̥tvíjam hótāraṁ ratnadhā́tamam

I praise Agni, the household priest, God, the sacrificial priest, the invoker, the best bestower of treasures.

Stanza 1.1.2

अ॒ग्निः पूर्वे॑भि॒र्ऋषि॑भि॒रीड्यो॒ नूत॑नैरु॒त | स दे॒वाँ एह व॑क्षति ||

agníḥ pū́rvebhir ŕ̥ṣibhir ī́ḍyo nū́tanair utá sá devā́m̐ éhá vakṣati

Agni is worthy of praise by ancient and modern seers; he brings the gods here.

Stanza 1.1.3

अ॒ग्निना॑ र॒यिम॑श्नव॒त्पोष॑मे॒व दि॒वेदि॑वे | य॒शसं॑ वी॒रव॑त्तमम् ||

agnínā rayím aśnavat póṣam evá divé-dive yaśásaṁ vīrávattamam

Through Agni, one may obtain wealth and daily prosperity, accompanied by glory and the most heroic offspring.

Stanza 1.1.4

अग्ने॒ यं य॒ज्ञम॑ध्व॒रं वि॒श्वतः॑ परि॒भूरसि॑ | स इद्दे॒वेषु॑ गच्छति ||

ágne yáṁ yajñám adhvaráṁ viśvátaḥ paribhū́r ási sá íd devéṣu gachati

Agni, the sacrifice which you encompass on all sides, truly reaches the gods.

Stanza 1.1.5

अ॒ग्निर्होता॑ क॒विक्र॑तुः स॒त्यश्चि॒त्रश्र॑वस्तमः | दे॒वो दे॒वेभि॒रा ग॑मत् ||

agnír hótā kavíkratuḥ satyáś citráśravastamaḥ devó devébhir ā́ gamat

May Agni, the wise, truthful invoker-priest, most gloriously renowned, the god, come hither with the gods.

Stanza 1.1.6

यद॒ङ्ग दा॒शुषे॒ त्वमग्ने॑ भ॒द्रं क॑रि॒ष्यसि॑ | तवेत्तत्स॒त्यम॑ङ्गिरः ||

yád aṅgá dāśúṣe tvám ágne bhadráṁ kariṣyási távét tát satyám aṅgiraḥ

Agni, whatever good you bestow upon your worshipper, that, O Angiras, is truly yours.

Stanza 1.1.7

उप॑ त्वाग्ने दि॒वेदि॑वे॒ दोषा॑वस्तर्धि॒या व॒यम् | नमो॒ भर॑न्त॒ एम॑सि ||

úpa tvāgne divé-dive dóṣāvastar dhiyā́ vayám námo bháranta émasi

To you, O Agni, day by day, with thought and prayer, bringing reverence, we come.

Stanza 1.1.8

राज॑न्तमध्व॒राणां॑ गो॒पामृ॒तस्य॒ दीदि॑विम् | वर्ध॑मानं॒ स्वे दमे॑ ||

rā́jantam adhvarā́ṇāṁ gopā́m r̥tásya dī́divim várdhamānaṁ své dáme

The ruler of sacrifices, the guardian of truth, the shining one, increasing in your own abode.

Stanza 1.1.9

स नः॑ पि॒तेव॑ सू॒नवेऽग्ने॑ सूपाय॒नो भ॑व | सच॑स्वा नः स्व॒स्तये॑ ||

sá naḥ pitéva sūnávé 'gne sūpāyanó bhava sácasvā naḥ svastáye

Thus, O Agni, be easy to approach for us, like a father to his son; remain with us for our well-being.
