Stanza 1.171.1

प्रति॑ व ए॒ना नम॑सा॒हमे॑मि सू॒क्तेन॑ भिक्षे सुम॒तिं तु॒राणा॑म् | र॒रा॒णता॑ मरुतो वे॒द्याभि॒र्नि हेळो॑ ध॒त्त वि मु॑चध्व॒मश्वा॑न् ||

práti va enā́ námasāhám emi sūkténa bhikṣe sumatíṁ turā́ṇām rarāṇátā maruto vedyā́bhir ní héḷo dhattá ví mucadhvam áśvān

I come to you with this deep respect and with a special song, seeking the favor of you mighty ones. O Maruts, you who truly delight in praise, please accept this! Set aside any anger and release your horses.

Stanza 1.171.2

ए॒ष वः॒ स्तोमो॑ मरुतो॒ नम॑स्वान्हृ॒दा त॒ष्टो मन॑सा धायि देवाः | उपे॒मा या॑त॒ मन॑सा जुषा॒णा यू॒यं हि ष्ठा नम॑स॒ इद्वृ॒धासः॑ ||

eṣá va stómo maruto námasvān hr̥dā́ taṣṭó mánasā dhāyi devāḥ úpem ā́ yāta mánasā juṣāṇā́ yūyáṁ hí ṣṭhā́ námasa íd vr̥dhā́saḥ

O Maruts, this praise is for you, full of reverence! It has been carefully shaped by my heart and mind. Come to us, joyful and pleased, because you are the ones who truly bring us strength and growth.

Stanza 1.171.3

स्तु॒तासो॑ नो म॒रुतो॑ मृळयन्तू॒त स्तु॒तो म॒घवा॒ शम्भ॑विष्ठः | ऊ॒र्ध्वा नः॑ सन्तु को॒म्या वना॒न्यहा॑नि॒ विश्वा॑ मरुतो जिगी॒षा ||

stutā́so no marúto mr̥ḷayantūtá stutó maghávā śámbhaviṣṭhaḥ ūrdhvā́ naḥ santu komyā́ vánāny áhāni víśvā maruto jigīṣā́

May the Maruts, once praised, show us kindness! May Maghavan (Indra), the best source of happiness, also be pleased when praised. O Maruts, may all our coming days be bright, pleasant, and victorious!

Stanza 1.171.4

अ॒स्माद॒हं त॑वि॒षादीष॑माण॒ इन्द्रा॑द्भि॒या म॑रुतो॒ रेज॑मानः | यु॒ष्मभ्यं॑ ह॒व्या निशि॑तान्यास॒न्तान्या॒रे च॑कृमा मृ॒ळता॑ नः ||

asmā́d aháṁ taviṣā́d ī́ṣamāṇa índrād bhiyā́ maruto réjamānaḥ yuṣmábhyaṁ havyā́ níśitāny āsan tā́ny āré cakr̥mā mr̥ḷátā naḥ

I am trembling, afraid of this powerful being and of Indra. We had prepared offerings for you, but we've put them away. O Maruts, please forgive us for this!

Stanza 1.171.5

येन॒ माना॑सश्चि॒तय॑न्त उ॒स्रा व्यु॑ष्टिषु॒ शव॑सा॒ शश्व॑तीनाम् | स नो॑ म॒रुद्भि॑र्वृषभ॒ श्रवो॑ धा उ॒ग्र उ॒ग्रेभिः॒ स्थवि॑रः सहो॒दाः ||

yéna mā́nāsaś citáyanta usrā́ vyùṣṭiṣu śávasā śáśvatīnām sá no marúdbhir vr̥ṣabha śrávo dhā ugrá ugrébhi stháviraḥ sahodā́ḥ

By whom the Manas recognize the coming of dawn, and the power of the ever-returning mornings – through that power, O Bull (Indra), grant us glory with the Maruts! You are fierce among the fierce, strong and giving strength.

Stanza 1.171.6

त्वं पा॑हीन्द्र॒ सही॑यसो॒ नॄन्भवा॑ म॒रुद्भि॒रव॑यातहेळाः | सु॒प्र॒के॒तेभिः॑ सास॒हिर्दधा॑नो वि॒द्यामे॒षं वृ॒जनं॑ जी॒रदा॑नुम् ||

tvám pāhīndra sáhīyaso nr̥ŕ̥n bhávā marúdbhir ávayātaheḷāḥ supraketébhiḥ sāsahír dádhāno vidyā́meṣáṁ vr̥jánaṁ jīrádānum

O Indra, protect these mightiest of heroes! And, together with the Maruts, let go of your anger towards them. You, who are victorious with the brilliant Maruts, grant us an abundance of sustaining food and strength.
