káyā śubhā́ sávayasaḥ sánīḷāḥ samānyā́ marútaḥ sám mimikṣuḥ káyā matī́ kúta étāsa eté 'rcanti śúṣmaṁ vŕ̥ṣaṇo vasūyā́
Hey Maruts, with what amazing radiance do you, who are peers and live together, shine so brightly? From where do you come? With what intentions? Do you, mighty heroes, display your strength out of a desire for wealth?

Whose prayers have you, you youths, accepted? Who has turned you, Maruts, towards his sacrifice? By what great desire can we make you pause? You, who speed through the sky like hawks!

Indra, from where do you come alone, you mighty one? O Lord of strength, why do you approach us like this? You meet us, the brilliant ones. So tell us, master of the swift horses, what is your issue with us?

He is so powerful that neither his past birth nor his present existence diminishes him; he is unassailable. He then commands himself to act as he wishes, emphasizing his unmatched power and freedom.

Indra proclaims that supreme power and strength should belong to him alone. He is confident in his ability to accomplish whatever he desires with his daring spirit. He declares to the Maruts that he is known as a terrible force and is the ultimate lord of all that he has overcome or destroyed.
