Stanza 1.141.1

बळि॒त्था तद्वपु॑षे धायि दर्श॒तं दे॒वस्य॒ भर्गः॒ सह॑सो॒ यतो॒ जनि॑ | यदी॒मुप॒ ह्वर॑ते॒ साध॑ते म॒तिर्ऋ॒तस्य॒ धेना॑ अनयन्त स॒स्रुतः॑ ||

báḷ itthā́ tád vápuṣe dhāyi darśatáṁ devásya bhárgaḥ sáhaso yáto jáni yád īm úpa hvárate sā́dhate matír r̥tásya dhénā anayanta sasrútaḥ

This divine brilliance, a truly wonderful sight, was established when it was born from great strength. When one directs their thoughts towards it, success follows. The very flows of cosmic order are guided by this radiant power.

Stanza 1.141.2

पृ॒क्षो वपुः॑ पितु॒मान्नित्य॒ आ श॑ये द्वि॒तीय॒मा स॒प्तशि॑वासु मा॒तृषु॑ | तृ॒तीय॑मस्य वृष॒भस्य॑ दो॒हसे॒ दश॑प्रमतिं जनयन्त॒ योष॑णः ||

pr̥kṣó vápuḥ pitumā́n nítya ā́ śaye dvitī́yam ā́ saptáśivāsu mātŕ̥ṣu tr̥tī́yam asya vr̥ṣabhásya doháse dáśapramatiṁ janayanta yóṣaṇaḥ

The powerful, nourishing presence rests within a beautiful form. Its second aspect is with seven 'mothers,' and its third, like a bull, is brought forth by ten young maidens to be drawn upon.

Stanza 1.141.3

निर्यदीं॑ बु॒ध्नान्म॑हि॒षस्य॒ वर्प॑स ईशा॒नासः॒ शव॑सा॒ क्रन्त॑ सू॒रयः॑ | यदी॒मनु॑ प्र॒दिवो॒ मध्व॑ आध॒वे गुहा॒ सन्तं॑ मात॒रिश्वा॑ मथा॒यति॑ ||

nír yád īm budhnā́n mahiṣásya várpasa īśānā́saḥ śávasā kránta sūráyaḥ yád īm ánu pradívo mádhva ādhavé gúhā sántam mātaríśvā mathāyáti

When the powerful leaders brought it forth from the depths and a mighty form, it was then that Matarishvan revealed the hidden one for the purification of the sweet drink.

Stanza 1.141.4

प्र यत्पि॒तुः प॑र॒मान्नी॒यते॒ पर्या पृ॒क्षुधो॑ वी॒रुधो॒ दंसु॑ रोहति | उ॒भा यद॑स्य ज॒नुषं॒ यदिन्व॑त॒ आदिद्यवि॑ष्ठो अभवद्घृ॒णा शुचिः॑ ||

prá yát pitúḥ paramā́n nīyáte páry ā́ pr̥kṣúdho vīrúdho dáṁsu rohati ubhā́ yád asya janúṣaṁ yád ínvata ā́d íd yáviṣṭho abhavad ghr̥ṇā́ śúciḥ

When this being is brought forth from the highest source, it grows among plants and vital forces. When two powers help its birth, it emerges as the youngest and most radiant, pure and bright.

Stanza 1.141.5

आदिन्मा॒तॄरावि॑श॒द्यास्वा शुचि॒रहिं॑स्यमान उर्वि॒या वि वा॑वृधे | अनु॒ यत्पूर्वा॒ अरु॑हत्सना॒जुवो॒ नि नव्य॑सी॒ष्वव॑रासु धावते ||

ā́d ín mātr̥ŕ̥r ā́viśad yā́sv ā́ śúcir áhiṁsyamāna urviyā́ ví vāvr̥dhe ánu yát pū́rvā áruhat sanājúvo ní návyasīṣv ávarāsu dhāvate

Entering the 'mothers', the pure being grew without harm. After reaching the older principles, it then moves among the newer ones.

Stanza 1.141.6

आदिद्धोता॑रं वृणते॒ दिवि॑ष्टिषु॒ भग॑मिव पपृचा॒नास॑ ऋञ्जते | दे॒वान्यत्क्रत्वा॑ म॒ज्मना॑ पुरुष्टु॒तो मर्तं॒ शंसं॑ वि॒श्वधा॒ वेति॒ धाय॑से ||

ā́d íd dhótāraṁ vr̥ṇate díviṣṭiṣu bhágam iva papr̥cānā́sa r̥ñjate devā́n yát krátvā majmánā puruṣṭutó mártaṁ śáṁsaṁ viśvádhā véti dhā́yase

For the morning rites, they choose the divine messenger. People strive towards him, seeking his favor. This widely praised being, with power and wisdom, moves to bestow blessings and sustenance.

Stanza 1.141.7

वि यदस्था॑द्यज॒तो वात॑चोदितो ह्वा॒रो न वक्वा॑ ज॒रणा॒ अना॑कृतः | तस्य॒ पत्म॑न्द॒क्षुषः॑ कृ॒ष्णजं॑हसः॒ शुचि॑जन्मनो॒ रज॒ आ व्य॑ध्वनः ||

ví yád ásthād yajató vā́tacodito hvāró ná vákvā jaráṇā ánākr̥taḥ tásya pátman dakṣúṣaḥ kr̥ṣṇájaṁhasaḥ śúcijanmano rája ā́ vyàdhvanaḥ

The worshipful one, driven by the wind, moves rapidly like a winding serpent. Though pure and bright, its path can appear dark, and it spreads everywhere through the atmosphere.

Stanza 1.141.8

रथो॒ न या॒तः शिक्व॑भिः कृ॒तो द्यामङ्गे॑भिररु॒षेभि॑रीयते | आद॑स्य॒ ते कृ॒ष्णासो॑ दक्षि सू॒रयः॒ शूर॑स्येव त्वे॒षथा॑दीषते॒ वयः॑ ||

rátho ná yātáḥ śíkvabhiḥ kr̥tó dyā́m áṅgebhir aruṣébhir īyate ā́d asya té kr̥ṣṇā́so dakṣi sūráyaḥ śū́rasyeva tveṣáthād īṣate váyaḥ

Like a well-made chariot, it ascends to the sky with its bright, red parts. Then, its worshippers appear darkened, their strength fleeing as if from a hero's might.

Stanza 1.141.9

त्वया॒ ह्य॑ग्ने॒ वरु॑णो धृ॒तव्र॑तो मि॒त्रः शा॑श॒द्रे अ॑र्य॒मा सु॒दान॑वः | यत्सी॒मनु॒ क्रतु॑ना वि॒श्वथा॑ वि॒भुर॒रान्न ने॒मिः प॑रि॒भूरजा॑यथाः ||

tváyā hy àgne váruṇo dhr̥távrato mitráḥ śāśadré aryamā́ sudā́navaḥ yát sīm ánu krátunā viśváthā vibhúr arā́n ná nemíḥ paribhū́r ájāyathāḥ

O Agni, through you, Varuna, Mitra, and Aryaman become mighty. You, with your encompassing power and wisdom, are born like the rim of a wheel holding everything together.

Stanza 1.141.10

त्वम॑ग्ने शशमा॒नाय॑ सुन्व॒ते रत्नं॑ यविष्ठ दे॒वता॑तिमिन्वसि | तं त्वा॒ नु नव्यं॑ सहसो युवन्व॒यं भगं॒ न का॒रे म॑हिरत्न धीमहि ||

tvám agne śaśamānā́ya sunvaté rátnaṁ yaviṣṭha devátātim invasi táṁ tvā nú návyaṁ sahaso yuvan vayám bhágaṁ ná kāré mahiratna dhīmahi

O Agni, the youngest, you bring treasures and divine favor to those who worship. We want to establish you anew, O young one, great giver of wealth, like a winner in a race.

Stanza 1.141.11

अ॒स्मे र॒यिं न स्वर्थं॒ दमू॑नसं॒ भगं॒ दक्षं॒ न प॑पृचासि धर्ण॒सिम् | र॒श्मीँरि॑व॒ यो यम॑ति॒ जन्म॑नी उ॒भे दे॒वानां॒ शंस॑मृ॒त आ च॑ सु॒क्रतुः॑ ||

asmé rayíṁ ná svárthaṁ dámūnasam bhágaṁ dákṣaṁ ná papr̥cāsi dharṇasím raśmī́m̐r iva yó yámati jánmanī ubhé devā́nāṁ śáṁsam r̥tá ā́ ca sukrátuḥ

Grant us beneficial wealth, good fortune at home, strong abilities, and prosperity. Guide both worlds like reins, and ensure the gods' favor in our worship.

Stanza 1.141.12

उ॒त नः॑ सु॒द्योत्मा॑ जी॒राश्वो॒ होता॑ म॒न्द्रः शृ॑णवच्च॒न्द्रर॑थः | स नो॑ नेष॒न्नेष॑तमै॒रमू॑रो॒ऽग्निर्वा॒मं सु॑वि॒तं वस्यो॒ अच्छ॑ ||

utá naḥ sudyótmā jīrā́śvo hótā mandráḥ śr̥ṇavac candrárathaḥ sá no neṣan néṣatamair ámūro 'gnír vāmáṁ suvitáṁ vásyo ácha

May the brilliant, joyful messenger with swift horses hear us. May the wise Agni lead us to the best happiness and welfare.

Stanza 1.141.13

अस्ता॑व्य॒ग्निः शिमी॑वद्भिर॒र्कैः साम्रा॑ज्याय प्रत॒रं दधा॑नः | अ॒मी च॒ ये म॒घवा॑नो व॒यं च॒ मिहं॒ न सूरो॒ अति॒ निष्ट॑तन्युः ||

ástāvy agníḥ śímīvadbhir arkaíḥ sā́mrājyāya prataráṁ dádhānaḥ amī́ ca yé maghávāno vayáṁ ca míhaṁ ná sū́ro áti níṣ ṭatanyuḥ

Agni has been praised and established in sovereignty. May the divine lords and we together spread forth, like the sun clearing away the mist.
