Stanza 1.121.1

कदि॒त्था नॄँः पात्रं॑ देवय॒तां श्रव॒द्गिरो॒ अङ्गि॑रसां तुर॒ण्यन् | प्र यदान॒ड्विश॒ आ ह॒र्म्यस्यो॒रु क्रं॑सते अध्व॒रे यज॑त्रः ||

kád itthā́ nr̥ŕ̥m̐ḥ pā́traṁ devayatā́ṁ śrávad gíro áṅgirasāṁ turaṇyán prá yád ā́naḍ víśa ā́ harmyásyorú kraṁsate adhvaré yájatraḥ

When will our protectors, inspired by the Angiras family, hear our calls? When will the divine one, moving with great speed, arrive at our sacred site for the ritual, bringing blessings?

Stanza 1.121.2

स्तम्भी॑द्ध॒ द्यां स ध॒रुणं॑ प्रुषायदृ॒भुर्वाजा॑य॒ द्रवि॑णं॒ नरो॒ गोः | अनु॑ स्व॒जां म॑हि॒षश्च॑क्षत॒ व्रां मेना॒मश्व॑स्य॒ परि॑ मा॒तरं॒ गोः ||

stámbhīd dha dyā́ṁ sá dharúṇam pruṣāyad r̥bhúr vā́jāya dráviṇaṁ náro góḥ ánu svajā́m mahiṣáś cakṣata vrā́m ménām áśvasya pári mātáraṁ góḥ

He firmly held up the sky and poured forth sustenance and riches. Like a skillful nurturer, he provided wealth for the heroes. The great one observed his own powerful, self-born family, the companion of the horse, the mother of the cow.

Stanza 1.121.3

नक्ष॒द्धव॑मरु॒णीः पू॒र्व्यं राट् तु॒रो वि॒शामङ्गि॑रसा॒मनु॒ द्यून् | तक्ष॒द्वज्रं॒ नियु॑तं त॒स्तम्भ॒द्द्यां चतु॑ष्पदे॒ नर्या॑य द्वि॒पादे॑ ||

nákṣad dhávam aruṇī́ḥ pūrvyáṁ rā́ṭ turó viśā́m áṅgirasām ánu dyū́n tákṣad vájraṁ níyutaṁ tastámbhad dyā́ṁ cátuṣpade náryāya dvipā́de

The victorious 'king,' swift and powerful, approached the Angirasas' ancient call. He crafted a thunderbolt, harnessed his team, and stabilized the heavens for four-footed and two-footed beings.

Stanza 1.121.4

अ॒स्य मदे॑ स्व॒र्यं॑ दा ऋ॒तायापी॑वृतमु॒स्रिया॑णा॒मनी॑कम् | यद्ध॑ प्र॒सर्गे॑ त्रिक॒कुम्नि॒वर्त॒दप॒ द्रुहो॒ मानु॑षस्य॒ दुरो॑ वः ||

asyá máde svaryàṁ dā r̥tā́yā́pīvr̥tam usríyāṇām ánīkam yád dha prasárge trikakúṁ nivártad ápa drúho mā́nuṣasya dúro vaḥ

In your joy, you brought back the shining light for worship. You, the three-peaked one, descended with force and removed the obstacles and doors that troubled humanity.

Stanza 1.121.5

तुभ्यं॒ पयो॒ यत्पि॒तरा॒वनी॑तां॒ राधः॑ सु॒रेत॑स्तु॒रणे॑ भुर॒ण्यू | शुचि॒ यत्ते॒ रेक्ण॒ आय॑जन्त सब॒र्दुघा॑याः॒ पय॑ उ॒स्रिया॑याः ||

túbhyam páyo yát pitárāv ánītāṁ rā́dhaḥ surétas turáṇe bhuraṇyū́ śúci yát te rékṇa ā́yajanta sabardúghāyāḥ páya usríyāyāḥ

This milk is yours, which your swift parents brought. It's a life-giving, generous gift for victory. You who are pure, we offer you this pure essence, the milk from the ever-flowing cow.

Stanza 1.121.6

अध॒ प्र ज॑ज्ञे त॒रणि॑र्ममत्तु॒ प्र रो॑च्य॒स्या उ॒षसो॒ न सूरः॑ | इन्दु॒र्येभि॒राष्ट॒ स्वेदु॑हव्यैः स्रु॒वेण॑ सि॒ञ्चञ्ज॒रणा॒भि धाम॑ ||

ádha prá jajñe taráṇir mamattu prá rocy asyā́ uṣáso ná sū́raḥ índur yébhir ā́ṣṭa svéduhavyaiḥ sruvéṇa siñcáñ jaráṇābhí dhā́ma

Then the swift one was born. May he bring us joy and shine like the sun from the dawn. Indu, we who have drunk, whose offerings are prepared, pour forth upon the altar with praise.

Stanza 1.121.7

स्वि॒ध्मा यद्व॒नधि॑तिरप॒स्यात्सूरो॑ अध्व॒रे परि॒ रोध॑ना॒ गोः | यद्ध॑ प्र॒भासि॒ कृत्व्याँ॒ अनु॒ द्यूनन॑र्विशे प॒श्विषे॑ तु॒राय॑ ||

svidhmā́ yád vanádhitir apasyā́t sū́ro adhvaré pári ródhanā góḥ yád dha prabhā́si kŕ̥tvyām̐ ánu dyū́n ánarviśe paśvíṣe turā́ya

When the well-made wood-pile is ready for the ritual, the Sun binds the Bull. Then, when you shine forth through the days of action, you provide for the charioteer, the swift one, and the cattle-seeker.

Stanza 1.121.8

अ॒ष्टा म॒हो दि॒व आदो॒ हरी॑ इ॒ह द्यु॑म्ना॒साह॑म॒भि यो॑धा॒न उत्स॑म् | हरिं॒ यत्ते॑ म॒न्दिनं॑ दु॒क्षन्वृ॒धे गोर॑भस॒मद्रि॑भिर्वा॒ताप्य॑म् ||

aṣṭā́ mahó divá ā́do hárī ihá dyumnāsā́ham abhí yodhāná útsam háriṁ yát te mandínaṁ dukṣán vr̥dhé górabhasam ádribhir vātā́pyam

You brought down eight horses from great heaven. You fought and conquered the source of strength. You pressed the yellow, gladdening Soma, strengthened with milk, using stones.

Stanza 1.121.9

त्वमा॑य॒सं प्रति॑ वर्तयो॒ गोर्दि॒वो अश्मा॑न॒मुप॑नीत॒मृभ्वा॑ | कुत्सा॑य॒ यत्र॑ पुरुहूत व॒न्वञ्छुष्ण॑मन॒न्तैः प॑रि॒यासि॑ व॒धैः ||

tvám āyasám práti vartayo gór divó áśmānam úpanītam ŕ̥bhvā kútsāya yátra puruhūta vanváñ chúṣṇam anantaíḥ pariyā́si vadhaíḥ

You hurled the iron weapon from the sky, skillfully brought forth. O much-invoked one, when helping Kutsa, you defeated the enemy Shushna with endless, deadly weapons.

Stanza 1.121.10

पु॒रा यत्सूर॒स्तम॑सो॒ अपी॑ते॒स्तम॑द्रिवः फलि॒गं हे॒तिम॑स्य | शुष्ण॑स्य चि॒त्परि॑हितं॒ यदोजो॑ दि॒वस्परि॒ सुग्र॑थितं॒ तदादः॑ ||

purā́ yát sū́ras támaso ápītes tám adrivaḥ phaligáṁ hetím asya śúṣṇasya cit párihitaṁ yád ójo divás pári súgrathitaṁ tád ā́daḥ

Before the sun was completely overtaken by darkness, O bolt-wielder, you cast your weapon at the hidden might of Shushna, which was veiled in the sky.

Stanza 1.121.11

अनु॑ त्वा म॒ही पाज॑सी अच॒क्रे द्यावा॒क्षामा॑ मदतामिन्द्र॒ कर्म॑न् | त्वं वृ॒त्रमा॒शया॑नं सि॒रासु॑ म॒हो वज्रे॑ण सिष्वपो व॒राहु॑म् ||

ánu tvā mahī́ pā́jasī acakré dyā́vākṣā́mā madatām indra kárman tváṁ vr̥trám āśáyānaṁ sirā́su mahó vájreṇa siṣvapo varā́hum

Mighty Heaven and Earth, without wheels, rejoiced at your deed, Indra, in your actions. You struck down Vritra, the boar lying in the waters, with your great thunderbolt.

Stanza 1.121.12

त्वमि॑न्द्र॒ नर्यो॒ याँ अवो॒ नॄन्तिष्ठा॒ वात॑स्य सु॒युजो॒ वहि॑ष्ठान् | यं ते॑ का॒व्य उ॒शना॑ म॒न्दिनं॒ दाद्वृ॑त्र॒हणं॒ पार्यं॑ ततक्ष॒ वज्र॑म् ||

tvám indra náryo yā́m̐ ávo nr̥ŕ̥n tíṣṭhā vā́tasya suyújo váhiṣṭhān yáṁ te kāvyá uśánā mandínaṁ dā́d vr̥traháṇam pā́ryaṁ tatakṣa vájram

O Indra, protect the men you guard, and the well-yoked horses of the wind, the best carriers. The gladdening, enemy-slaying thunderbolt, which the wise Ushanas made for you, he fashioned.

Stanza 1.121.13

त्वं सूरो॑ ह॒रितो॑ रामयो॒ नॄन्भर॑च्च॒क्रमेत॑शो॒ नायमि॑न्द्र | प्रास्य॑ पा॒रं न॑व॒तिं ना॒व्या॑ना॒मपि॑ क॒र्तम॑वर्त॒योऽय॑ज्यून् ||

tváṁ sū́ro haríto rāmayo nr̥ŕ̥n bhárac cakrám étaśo nā́yám indra prā́sya pāráṁ navatíṁ nāvyāā̀nām ápi kartám avartayó 'yajyūn

You halted the sun's horses. This chariot wheel, Indra, was not drawn by Etaśa. You cast them beyond ninety rivers and drove the godless into the pit.

Stanza 1.121.14

त्वं नो॑ अ॒स्या इ॑न्द्र दु॒र्हणा॑याः पा॒हि व॑ज्रिवो दुरि॒ताद॒भीके॑ | प्र नो॒ वाजा॑न्र॒थ्यो॒३॒॑ अश्व॑बुध्यानि॒षे य॑न्धि॒ श्रव॑से सू॒नृता॑यै ||

tváṁ no asyā́ indra durháṇāyāḥ pāhí vajrivo duritā́d abhī́ke prá no vā́jān rathyò áśvabudhyān iṣé yandhi śrávase sūnŕ̥tāyai

Indra, with your thunderbolt, protect us from this affliction and from nearby dangers. Grant us wealth, like chariots and horses, for our sustenance and renown.

Stanza 1.121.15

मा सा ते॑ अ॒स्मत्सु॑म॒तिर्वि द॑स॒द्वाज॑प्रमहः॒ समिषो॑ वरन्त | आ नो॑ भज मघव॒न्गोष्व॒र्यो मंहि॑ष्ठास्ते सध॒मादः॑ स्याम ||

mā́ sā́ te asmát sumatír ví dasad vā́japramahaḥ sám íṣo varanta ā́ no bhaja maghavan góṣv aryó máṁhiṣṭhās te sadhamā́daḥ syāma

May your good-will never leave us. May abundance surround us. O generous Indra, share with us the wealth of enemies. May we be your closest companions at feasts.
